Babyliss Big Hair - a complete waste of money and not as good as....

I have fine, limp, pathetic blonde hair and borrowed a BBH which left a tangled frizzy result. Is there anything that Is going to work?? Why doesn't it look like the beautiful results on YT?!

I can't make mine work either. I have hair with loads of volume so "big" isn't my problem, but I was hoping for bouncy lovely waves and all I get is slightly frizzy straight hair

I have a short bob and my hair is fine but thickish. My BBH makes it look fab like i have been to a salon for a blow dry. You need to make sure your hair is almost dry before you use it. I blast mine with the hair dryer first.

Its the only thing that works on my long thick and straight hair. Closest I ever get to a salon blow-dry at home. Maybe different hair types get different results?

I used to love mine, but actually, recently, I'm pretty disenchanted.

I do it, and then half an hour later, sometimes even less - minutes later if there is even a hint of moisture in the air - it defaults to frizz, and all my hard work is wasted. And yes, I did use serum before drying it.

When it goes well it's great. But it can be temperamental, you have to develop the knack of using, and if it gets tangled, which is easily done, it frazzles on the ends of your hair.

It's also time consuming. And it often drops out, that bounce...very quickly.

Agree that hair needs to be almost dry for best results. Plus you'd be there all day

Use it on the slower/cooler setting, otherwise it's easy to get in a tangle. The top setting is too frantic.

You have my sympathies. My hair is fine, limp and slippery. My BBH does give a decent shape but you probably need a hair product as well for it to last. I found mousse and salt spray the best.

I tried using heater curlers a la Sali Hughes, again the effect was only temporary and quite a lot of time and effort.

My new thing is a Babyliss microcrimper. It seems to be giving me just a bit more volume that lasts which is what I want. I'm getting the best (most lasting) results with salt spray.

I've also tried dry shampoos and root powders but they make my hair static.

I'm very late to the BBH party. I just got mine two weeks ago and it's the only thing that works on my awful hair. My hair is naturally wavy and frizzy, bleached and ruined by a number of scalp psoriasis shampoos and desalinated water. My hair is thin and limp. BUT the BBH has been the best investment I've made!

I watched a number of YT tutorials and recommend this one as it gives clear instructions and corrections.

It does take practice if you're not used to styling your hair every day. I just gave up and wore it up for a long time until I got the BBH. Make sure each section is completely dry before moving on to the next and also keep going over the same section until it looks the exact way you want it to.

I admit it does tend to frizz somewhat about an hour after styling. I just haven't found the correct product to use to keep it looking polished. (The 40+ degrees outside doesn't help either!) Can anyone recommend a specific product?

I was really disappointed the first time I used it - I ended up with a weird frizzy nest on my head, my hair is usually well behaved. I perservered with the help of a youtube tutorial or two and I think I've got it down. keep practising OP, you will get better at it.

Ooh, such helpful comments thank you everyone. I love Tanya Burr and the YT link is really helpful, although my hair will Never look like hers. Will persevere and use salt spray too. Patience I guess, and 90% dry hair.

I quite like mine - mid length bob that just needs extra help at the back to turn under, never got tangled.

I also have a Micro crimper which I use at the roots on underneath layers, this gives more volume.

To be fair though, I only bother when I'm going out. I just blow dry for work.

I've just got one and I think it's ok, not wonderful. However I have been getting more compliments on my hair so it must be doing something.

The BBH is the best thing is the world bar nothing. Transforms my thick, frizzy, wavy hair into a swishy delight.
I put serum and mousse on my hair, blast it with the hairdryer until it's almost dry and then use the BBH on sections. Voila! And I use the hottest setting!
For some reason it doesn't work if I leave my hair to dry naturally.

So what's your process, SirCh - which serum and mouse do you use, and do you out that in before you use the hairdryer?

I have thick, frizzy hair, and it works, it just doesn't last beyond 15 minutes. I always leave it to dry naturally - maybe that's where I'm going wrong.

I use Frizz Ease serum and mousse. Drying naturally is maybe where you're going wrong - mine never works if I do that, hair stays frizzy. I finish off with a bit of smoothung creme if I cba/remember.

Although no doubt I won't be able to get them here. Frizz Ease serum, but which mousse, and which smoothing creme? I'm happy to throw money at the problem.

Yes, Frizz Ease do mousse, serum and smoothing cream Just a suggestion though - other brands are available! - but it works on my hair type.

Works on my frizzy barnet too. I leave hair in a plait or bun until it's nearly dry then I use my BBH, especially at the front and top layers to smooth it out and give it that swishy, salon blow dry look. I don't use any serum or other products but I'm thinking maybe I should....

I couldn't live without mine. I have a chin length inverted bob. In fact we have 3 between me and the DD's. There are 2 sizes. We all have the smaller barrel. The larger one is more suited for longer thicker hair. It does take a bit of practice. I think I must have lost a load of hair when I started but suddenly it will click and it will be fine. It will give you a salon finish but of course if I get caught in the rain or it's damp, mine will frizz over.
