Comfiest Birkenstock Style?

What's the most comfortable Birkenstock style? I've seen them recommended loads on here and need a pair for holiday. Madrid or Arizona? Or one with a back strap like Rio or Bali?

Mayari by a mile

busyboysmum · 23/06/2015 20:51

Oops sorry cross posted.

dixiechick1975 · 24/06/2015 20:43

Given all I wear in the summer

TheCraicDealer · 24/06/2015 21:26

Ordered a pair of Kairos the other day because I needed new adventuring sandals. The thread is making me rub my thighs in anticipation. Oooooh yisssss.

SakuraSakura · 24/06/2015 21:31

I have mayari, gizeh & boston. It's pretty close, they're all lovely, but I find gizeh the best. Agree that it probably depends on the width/shape of your feet

gerbiltamer · 24/06/2015 22:05

Hurrah! Another satisfied Birkie wearer Grin

LovelyFriend · 24/06/2015 22:20

Florida or Arizona. Slide on, stay on, slide off. No nonsense, no toe posts, walk all day.

I can't be dealing with all the flipping and flopping of a Madrid, and I'm not keen on my toes being involved.

The clog styles are also excellent but too warm for summer.

dragonflygirl1 · 24/06/2015 22:33

Birkenstocks make trumpy sounds on my feet as soon as they have got damp on a rainy day! From then on it's a nightmare! So embarrassing! Is it just that I should be wearing a different kind?!

AnnPerkins · 25/06/2015 09:37

My Mayaris were the only shoes I could get on my poor, swollen feet for the last four months of my pregnancy. I wore them nonstop every summer for four years until they expired last year Sad

I'm going to say hang the cost and buy a new pair next payday. It's not like I won't get my money's worth is it?

zizza · 28/06/2015 17:52

My life was changed by Birkenstocks - they have me plantar fascietis that I've now suffered with for years (helped by changing to Fit Flops)!!

yazzy85 · 02/07/2015 00:07

zizza are the fit flops better than the birkenstocks??

I prefer the styles that have ankle straps, as my feet feel more secure. My go-to style used to be Kairo, but my last pair gave me awful blisters on the soles of my feet. No idea why Hmm.

My favourites are Rio, Bali, and Odessa. I also have felt clogs for slippers! Now I just wish I could find the perfect solution to hot and wet weather, that isn't suitable for sandals!

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/07/2015 12:04

I just had some Mayaris delivered & the straps are too short Sad - I have high insteps & they won't fasten even on the last hole. & the toe strap is very tight.

Really disappointed - they looked much chunkier in the photo.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/07/2015 12:12

I have this white pair I got from
TKMaxx ages ago, which fit fine (they also fart, dragonflygirl - all the time Grin)

I don't like the white though & I can't find this style anywhere either to buy a different colour. Can I dye them, anybody?

i love the madrids
they stay on really well even though they're single strap
no bothersome toe post
i walk miles in mine.

gingeroots · 02/07/2015 12:19

Ah I have fond pregnancy and labour memories of wearing Milanos
www.birkenstock.co.uk/Product/58/Milano-Birko-Flor-Dark-Brown-034701/
heroic indeed .

zizza · 02/07/2015 23:21

Yazzy - I loved my Birkenstocks but they're too flat for me. The FitFlops are a much better style if you have trouble with foot/heel pain.

RaisingSteam · 02/07/2015 23:48

I've got some like Tabora ( I think mine were Papillio ones), they have good straps but a nice design

RaisingSteam · 02/07/2015 23:49

Ah Tabora and Mayari are the same shape

VodIsGod · 02/07/2015 23:59

I bought these yesterday [Alyssa [http://www.birkenstock.com/collection-en-category-seasonpapillioSS.htm#close]]

VodIsGod · 03/07/2015 00:01

Can't make thread work... They're so comfy and because they have a wedge heel they more dainty... IMO

imjustahead · 03/07/2015 00:27

Relax

nicer shape than the Madrid

yazzy85 · 12/07/2015 14:32

VodIsGod I bought the same style Alyssa after your recommendation and they are great! Nice to have two styles I really like, the gizeh toe post and alyssa with a strap. I just wish more colours were easily available, I had to settle on the brown suede from amazon.
