These Teva sandals? How smart?

I've just seen another link and they look amazingly comfortable and just my thing. But - and I know this will horrify all the stylish people on here - could they be worn to work? My workplace bans flip flops and trainers and anything too sporty, but they look like safe sandals to me and the wedge ones look like they could come from anywhere. Obviously I don't mean the ones that look like open top trainers.

drElizabeh
I used to wear sandals like that in the 90's with long skirts and crop tops.
I loved that look!

OP I love the Teva wedge and I am about to get my debit card out.

I have a few pairs of Teva that have been great for camping fields and the like but are so comfortable.

I could wear all those styles in my office and no one would care or indeed notice!

AmberNectarine · 07/06/2015 19:02

Got them, love them, absolutely would not wear them to work.

noddyholder · 07/06/2015 19:04

Computer gone mad Its the office vagabond ones in black

mewkins · 07/06/2015 19:23

They would be fine in my office which is sort of smart casual.

cashewnutty · 07/06/2015 19:30

I have ridiculous feet and find nothing comfortable. I have just bought these sandals in both the taupe and navy as they are so super comfortable. They also look smart.

namechangefortoday543 · 07/06/2015 20:41

Apologies but I dont think they are smart at all Blush- quite casual, I like them .

Office - nope.

cashewnutty · 07/06/2015 20:44

Ah well. They are smart for me and my job!

cashewnutty · 07/06/2015 20:45

namechange I assumed you were referring to the ones linked to not the OP's ones. I think i was maybe mistaken?

namechangefortoday543 · 07/06/2015 20:46

Eeeep not trying to be unkind - I do like them!
I dont think they are office wear though- I suppose it depends on your job Smile

namechangefortoday543 · 07/06/2015 20:48

I was referring to yours cashew but I also dont think the Ops are office wear either.

cashewnutty · 07/06/2015 20:53

I am a social worker and to be honest i could wear whatever wanted on my feet, no-one would bat an eyelid! These sandals seem smart to me! They have heels and everything! Not offended in the slightest.

namechangefortoday543 · 07/06/2015 21:03

That's great then cashew
I do like them!

mewkins · 07/06/2015 21:51

I want to know what everyone does! Like Cashew, I work around social services and pretty much anything goes (although jeans and flip flops are not supposed to be worn, sometimes people do).

travailtotravel · 07/06/2015 22:12

I'd think you might be able to get away with the wedges, but certainly not the middle pair.

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 08/06/2015 06:40

I said upthread a lot of the sandals mentioned on this thread would be perfectly satisfactory in my office, but obviously not in the labs where closed shoes are required.

I work in the public sector, but we provide commercial services to all sorts of businesses. You are expected to look reasonably smart when meeting clients or very senior people within our organisation, but even then, it doesn't have to be particularly formal, just not jeans or very casual tops really.

Day to day, almost anything goes, except obvious things like very short skirts/shorts or flip flops for safety reasons (this has been commented on in a general 'some people need to tidy themselves up' manner on occasion).

But almost no-one wears 'business dress' of the sort that would be expected in law or banking on a day to day basis. In fact if they did, they would generally get teased in a 'got an interview somewhere else?' way.

BeaufortBelle · 08/06/2015 08:29

I think cashew's sandals are fabulous. I haven't seen them in the shops at all and if I had I'd have bought them. Just checked and they are out of stock in my size and I'm very pissed off. I would certainly wear them to work and think they would be appropriate in more formal offices too. Perhaps not a merchant bank in front of clients but most other circumstances.

Walnutpie · 08/06/2015 08:42

Ah, thanks noddy you saved me time schlepping around..think I'll just order those! Grin

noddyholder · 08/06/2015 09:04

They are so nice and really more comfortable than others I tried! Hope you like them

Sleepybeanbump · 08/06/2015 13:37

I love the implication that one has to have a stated foot 'issue' before being allowed by MN to wear comfy shoes. Grin

Op I have a very low tolerance of any kind of foot discomfort and understand your teva urges.

I think the first pair probably, the wedges definitely and the red things not. Trousers can mask a multitude of footwear fuax pas.

I also recommend merrell.

Sleepybeanbump · 08/06/2015 13:42

I also suspect some people confuse fashionable and smart.

FrugalFashionista · 08/06/2015 14:39

I saw a 80+ lady enjoying her morning cappucino in the bar next door this morning. Her white hair was carefully coiffed, she was wearing black Wayfarers, a blue denim shirt, discreet gold and pearl jewellery, slim black trousers and black Tevas. She looked devastatingly stylish. Only in Italy...

Many office workers here in Rome are wearing T-strap sandals this summer - they seem to be a thing right now. They may look dressier but as your feet are basically bare in them of course it depends on what your local policy is. Our downstairs is full of lawyers' studios so I see a lot of work outfits although I work from home.
