These Teva sandals? How smart?

I've just seen another link and they look amazingly comfortable and just my thing. But - and I know this will horrify all the stylish people on here - could they be worn to work? My workplace bans flip flops and trainers and anything too sporty, but they look like safe sandals to me and the wedge ones look like they could come from anywhere. Obviously I don't mean the ones that look like open top trainers.

I think they were 19,thin and model like though so it was an "ironic look"

No irony here, they would make me look frumpy Grin

I do have 2 pairs of Eco strappy sandals that are heaven to wear and I tend to haul them out for long ,hot days when I will be on my feet.

Op still hasn't told us what her foot issue is ?

noddyholder · 07/06/2015 13:03

I like those

DrElizabethPlimpton · 07/06/2015 13:09

I'm thinking of getting these

In silver.

Would these be any good?

Stitchintime1 · 07/06/2015 15:00

Sorry. Went out for a bit. I like those ecco shoes. Are they more acceptable at work?

Foot issue? I have very narrow feet and bony heels and ankles. So court shoes and pumps fall off. Sometimes, I can make them work with those stick on things and insoles etc. But the shoes that work best are either all covering with laces or they have an ankle strap.

Just looked at the ecco website. I like these shopeu.ecco.com/uk/en/ecco/bouillon-sandal-ii_8369752/8369754?navId=190

But I suspect they are a bit too casual. Maybe if I made the rest of me more formal. A very sharp jacket or something.

Maybe I am overthinking things.

Have to go out again. Shall ponder shoe formality some more.

DrEP, I think those shoes are amazing, but I don't think I could wear them. Not sure why.

I have the same issue with narrow feet and shoes falling off and I tend to go for more of a pump rather than ballet flat .
If the ballet flats are too flat/lack depth they just fall off or I step out of them.

I think all of the above are too casual.

These are out of stock but this style. could work

FrugalFashionista · 07/06/2015 16:10

Here is a story from an American magazine on Tevas, if you are a graphics designer type or young, pretty and ironic those looks would work but I just look like my MIL on a hike in Tenerife Wink The Frugality wears Teva type stuff a lot!

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 07/06/2015 16:13

Do you know, I was going to come on and be all grumpy about them but I like these

FrugalFashionista · 07/06/2015 16:20

The Frugality on Tevas. Though I have to say that I saw a group of American tourists visiting the synagogue here and everyone was wearing Tevas. So I think it's like normcore - you are either a hipster or a Texan tourist, and there is no middle ground Wink

My feet are really narrow and bony too. Vagabond is also Scandinavian like Ecco but their shoes fit my feet perfectly and they sometimes have fashion-forward options.

namechangefortoday543 · 07/06/2015 16:24

Bwahahahahhahha! Frugal

I know exactly what you mean !
There is always a place for comfy sandals especially if you walk a lot but the office with a suit isn't it unless you want to look like you are from Minnesota

Stitchintime1 · 07/06/2015 16:39

The John Lewis shoe would work well. So, I know shoes that work are out there.

As a side issue, do people think sandals are not professional enough?

OP posts:
Shinyandnew1 · 07/06/2015 16:41

I think most of them are rather old lady. These are ok

link

but maybe not suitable for work!

I have these, similar to the silver John Lewis ones above. They're comfortable and suitable for my professional dress code office. They also come in a nude colour.

DosDuchas · 07/06/2015 17:14

love those

Stitchintime1 · 07/06/2015 17:36

I've checked tons of fashion websites that promise to show you how to make sports sandals stylish and it's clear that it can't really be done.

I might buy some anyway and wear them at weekends.

noddyholder · 07/06/2015 18:12

I have black sports sandals with thickish white sole and I find them good with most things! Wore recently with black tube skirt and t shirt but also good with skinny jeans and harem type joggers So comfy

Stitchintime1 · 07/06/2015 18:17

Do you wear them to work? And, if so, what sort of work?

OP posts:
noddyholder · 07/06/2015 18:19

No I don't tbh I am an interior designer and work from home. I see lots of people wearing them though but if your workplace doesn't like sporty may be risky! I like the teva ones though they look fine

polyhymnia · 07/06/2015 18:20

Great for weekends and holidays I think, not for work.

Stitchintime1 · 07/06/2015 18:26

I don't mean what job exactly but how formal etc.

OP posts:
Walnutpie · 07/06/2015 18:29

noddy which ones do you wear, do you have a link? I really need some sandals.

BeaufortBelle · 07/06/2015 18:37

I work in a very relaxed environment as a professional. I would wear them to work and think I will buy some. The first pair look as though they have good arch support.

I probably would wear something a bit more formal if I had a meeting with externals. I find Gabor comfortable and suitable for work.
