You know that Face Atelier foundation?

On the strength of THIS thread I ordered 2 samples, porcelain and ivory. It goes on beautifully and feels really nice although I'm not sure if I need more coverage or if either of these colours a right for me but I didn't want to hijack that thread.

All of my long life I've been a minimalist with make up, any old foundation, some mascara and a dab of lippie, however that approach doesn't cut it any longer. I now have quite pronounced cheek wrinkles which I swear appeared overnight and more crow's feet than I thought was possible. Since my mother has the same pattern of wrinkles I guess I've been unlucky with the genes I've inherited. As well as all that I've a broken vein on my cheekbone, just under my eye so it's really visible.

So my questions, if any of you more experienced though probably decades younger, S&B peeps care to help a clueless wumman, are:

  1. What colour foundation do you think? - I'm fair skinned but quite a pink with very blue eyes, hair colour originally dark now a horrendous dyed blonde (but my hair appt tomorrow should sort that out to a more sophisticated ash).
  1. How do I cover the vein? I didn't know that was what it was till the beautician lady on the Dior counter told me as she sold me a foundation which I later realised made me look as though I'd been embalmed.
  1. Other than polyfilla, is there anything I can do about the wrinkles?

Thanks for getting this far. :)

How long did it take for people's samples to arrive? Coco beau gave taken the money but nothing has arrived!

MellieFitz · 06/06/2015 10:00

Cross post Smile

Greengardenpixie · 06/06/2015 10:09

Sounds very good. Have bought so much just now! Will have a look next time i am in the supermarket which is today!!!

Greengardenpixie · 06/06/2015 10:09

I got my samples a couple of days later. Not that long.

DurhamDurham · 06/06/2015 10:12

You sound like me Smile I have cupboards full of stuff, I keep meaning to have a clear out but I can't bear to throw any of it away, even if I didn't really like it much Grin

ApologiseForAnotherDay · 06/06/2015 11:01

I emailed Coco Beau and apparently there was a problem with a shipment of samples but they are being sent out first class this weekend.

QueefOfTheDamned · 06/06/2015 11:18

I used a tiny amount and applied with my usual foundation brush. Nice, light, even coverage. And it really was a tiny amount. I used just the bit that was in the lid of the sample pot.

cashmerecardigans · 06/06/2015 11:21

Just to update that my spare sample pot has now been taken

Greengardenpixie · 06/06/2015 11:51

I used the slightly darker version today. Think it was number 5 Sepia and its much better than the number 4 sand. It looks fine. Used it with moisturiser and its much better :) So what type of So is it just the plain ultra that you order or the ultra pro? Cant justify spending this atm especially as its summer time and i dont wear foundation unless i am going out. Will keep it on my wish list/to buy list though.

Greengardenpixie · 06/06/2015 11:57

Are the pro and the ultra just the same but packaged differently? One is nearly £10 cheaper.

Greengardenpixie · 06/06/2015 12:01

It also doesnt say how much you get in it???

Greengardenpixie · 06/06/2015 12:14

I have ordered the one at £24.00. Going to mix it with my moisturiser when it comes for holidays!

HowlyBabblyBansheeeeeee · 06/06/2015 16:47

Thanks greengarden I'll investigate that but having just spent ££££ at the hairdresser there will be no more purchases for a day or two while.

Greengardenpixie it's the same. Looking at the Face Atelier website ( at their other products) I noticed that. The pro is meant to be a handy size for make up artists but no other difference at all.

Shonajay · 06/06/2015 18:23

That's a shame, maybe it's just the technique. It contains 50% pigment whereas most high street ones hover around ten per cent, so maybe if it wasn't shaken you got all the pigment and none of the nice glow?

Also don't use primer under it as its silicone based, so that won't help. I'm still loving it.

poorbuthappy · 06/06/2015 18:45

Had an email saying shipped. Now waiting...

LittleMysMoominMamma · 06/06/2015 19:08

I ordered last Saturday and received my samples today with a note apologising for the delay, they ran out of samples - can't think why Grin

Haven't had chance to try yet...

EachandEveryone · 07/06/2015 09:48

Postage is a lot though.

Follyfoot · 07/06/2015 09:52

Howly, have you tried Lancome Teint Visionnaire Foundation? It comes with a matching pot of really good concealer. Might be worth a go.

Talisin · 07/06/2015 19:08

Received my sample yesterday (with an apology for the delay) and tried it today. Of the good: it didn't settle in my pores, coverage was good without looking the slightest bit cakey and the shade (porcelain) was dead-on for me. The bad: much, much too shiny. I know a lot of people like the dewy look but on my skin that tends to translate to oily/shiny and sadly that's the case with this. I may give it another shot tomorrow and see what pressed powder can achieve but I suspect it's going to be a pass from me.

HowlyBabblyBansheeeeeee · 07/06/2015 19:42

Haven't come across that one Folly, I'll check it out, thanks.

I used mine last night for the first time. I'm not overl impressed and if anything my pores looked bigger! I much prefer my mac Mineralize. I love it.

Shonajay · 12/06/2015 10:38

Talisin, I normally hate powder as it emphasises things but I got a light reflecting white blot powder really cheap from lily lolo on feel unique, and brush it on if I feel too shiny. The other thing is don't moisturise too soon before putting it on, and don't use primer cos of the silicone apparently.

I hate coloured face powders, they always seem to cake or oxidise on me but this white stuff is great, doesn't look greasy, or Matt just normal.

Shonajay · 12/06/2015 10:39

I should get a bloody lifetimes free supply- most people seem to be liking it! Lol

Greengardenpixie · 12/06/2015 11:26

I tried it on again yesterday and have to say that i still am not taken with it. My actual product came through today. Will use and am going out tonight so will give it a whirl again. I may not be shaking it or applying it right. Maybe applying too much.
