You know that Face Atelier foundation?

On the strength of THIS thread I ordered 2 samples, porcelain and ivory. It goes on beautifully and feels really nice although I'm not sure if I need more coverage or if either of these colours a right for me but I didn't want to hijack that thread.

All of my long life I've been a minimalist with make up, any old foundation, some mascara and a dab of lippie, however that approach doesn't cut it any longer. I now have quite pronounced cheek wrinkles which I swear appeared overnight and more crow's feet than I thought was possible. Since my mother has the same pattern of wrinkles I guess I've been unlucky with the genes I've inherited. As well as all that I've a broken vein on my cheekbone, just under my eye so it's really visible.

So my questions, if any of you more experienced though probably decades younger, S&B peeps care to help a clueless wumman, are:

  1. What colour foundation do you think? - I'm fair skinned but quite a pink with very blue eyes, hair colour originally dark now a horrendous dyed blonde (but my hair appt tomorrow should sort that out to a more sophisticated ash).
  1. How do I cover the vein? I didn't know that was what it was till the beautician lady on the Dior counter told me as she sold me a foundation which I later realised made me look as though I'd been embalmed.
  1. Other than polyfilla, is there anything I can do about the wrinkles?

Thanks for getting this far. :)

Ive used my same for the first time today and the no.2 Ivory is the perfect winter shade for me - Id have to go up a shade for summer.

Coverage is perfect for me and I think it's an excellent foundation - I do use a very light powder over the top on the T zone as I never wear foundation without powder.

I'm definitely going to buy the full size.

Greengardenpixie · 13/06/2015 15:02

Well i went on you tube and found a link to someone applying it and its so much better. The shade i have chosen is also spot on for my skin which is sepia 4. Infact, it was so perfect i couldn't see it on my skin to blend it at one point! What i have found is to apply moisturiser then let that sink in and apply it very very sparingly. I then take a foundation brush and working from the middle sweeping outwards blend it into my skin. Then take my buffing brush to remove any excess and ensure its seemless. Works a treat :)

Couldn't agree more. You need such a tiny amount. BTW I just bought some other Face atelier things from coco beau (used the foundation for ages, and am now in love with the ultra sheer (loving the Peach and Champagne)), and the 10 % off code FACESUMMER10 is till active! I actually emailed them as I'd thought it had expired (turns out I was mistyping it.. note to self 'don't be too vane/lazy to wear your beeldin' glasses'), and they said it was good for another few days.

EachandEveryone · 13/06/2015 17:02

I just find it really expensive for what it is. Too risky ordering online I'd rather go to MAC and play around.

Greengardenpixie · 13/06/2015 17:49

Each i bought the small one for £25 to see how i got on with it. I dont wear it daily but you need such a little drop of it, it will probably last me for over a year!!

EachandEveryone · 13/06/2015 17:58

Thanks for the tip. Even the lip glosses though, how are they justifying their prices?

Greengardenpixie · 13/06/2015 18:00

mayflower the ultra sheer looks amazing but its too expensive sadly!

mayflowermay1 · 13/06/2015 18:26

Each and pixie. Totally appreciate that we all spend differently. I tend to buy something if I genuinely think I will get use from it and with makeup products, if they make me feel and look fab. Sometimes I buy highstreet beauty, often in fact, but if a beauty product seems to be a cut above then I will buy it it I can. I agree with you pixie, the foundation lasts so so long. I think my last bottle lasted me well over a year. The Ultra sheers I use even less of, as I think a bottle will actually last for.. well ..ever! I don;t have a lipgloss yet, but my mate has and the tubes are mass-hoos-sive. I would guess around three or four times the average tube. Just guessing but they look it. I'm not a great gloss wearer so don't know what they're like,

poorbuthappy · 13/06/2015 21:50

I applied it today using a sponge instead of a brush and it went in so much better!!
Going to be buying the full size next week. Hope the code still works!

Sallystyle · 13/06/2015 21:58

I hate it.

I used it again today and mixed it around better. The stuff dries while I am spreading it. It made every fine line look worse and dried my skin out, so it looked all cakey.

It's a shame but it is the worst I have ever tried.

shins · 16/06/2015 11:47

I like it. Good coverage, dewy, light. Might get a fb. I'm 43 with pale, fairly good skin prone to dryness..

Greengardenpixie · 16/06/2015 16:58

Well i put mine on by pumping a little on my hand. Then i dot my cheekbones with it, chin, nose and forhead. I take a good foundation brush [bought a real techniques pointed one] and work outwards with it sweeping under my eyes and focusing on particular areas of red/darkness. Once i have done it i use my buffing brush and go over it with circular motions. It looks good. It can settle a little around my chin. I just use the buffing brush to smooth it off.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/06/2015 18:02

I got my samples the other day, tried the one I thought was the best match today and my office colleague looked at me and said @oh your skin looks lovely, are you using something new?' first time that has happened to me. have to say I did like how it made my skin look but also I have been religious about using the loreal Revitalift Laser Renew Night Peel the night cream, and day serum and think it has made a massive difference to my skin. pores are smaller and less obvious, it glows and is smoother so all in all whatever it is that has worked its magic I am a happy bunny!

swooosh · 17/06/2015 20:32

I tried mine today, my face definitely feels more oilier but coverage is good. I did put moisturiser on before which I don't usually do (I usually use a primer then MAC studio fix fluid)

I will try again tomorrow sans moisturiser.

EachandEveryone · 17/06/2015 21:12

My mate said I looked poorly today.

Wagglebee · 18/06/2015 00:57

My samples came today. I got the two lightest shades. (#1 porcelain and #2 Ivory). Tried the porcelain and I'm quite impressed so far. I'll have a proper try tomorrow and see how it wears over a whole day.

I have very pale, cool toned, combination skin. It was dewier than I'm used to but I liked that. My face looked healthy rather than masked. I used a very tiny bit with a real techniques stippling brush. It's really pigmented so good coverage but also feels light iykwim. Finished with a little bit of powder on my t zone.

I'm really impressed with the colour. I struggle to get a foundation pale enough that isn't yellowy

Wagglebee · 18/06/2015 00:58

Epic post. Blush Basically I love the colour, impressed so far but will test properly before deciding.
