It feels very insubstantial on the skin Lucysmam. I'm not great at describing physical feelings but it's a lot of air trapped in bubbles and when I was massaging it on it felt like my fingertips went straight down on the skin on my face and the bubbles just sort of moved around my fingers. It rinsed off easily enough but the next day my skin was a bit flakey and I had dry patches above my eyebrows and over my cheekbones. I will read back for Frugal and Wizard's recommendations, thanks.

lucysmam · 08/06/2015 21:38

hmmm, thanks. I'm not sure I fancy that after all Confused I was looking at reviews of a bubbling holika holika mask but might leave it.

lucysmam · 08/06/2015 21:40

I forgot to add - I took off the mask after about ten mins because it felt dry on my face. There was still a layer of moisture on my face though so I can't have squeeeeezed all it's usefulness out.

NinkyNonkers · 08/06/2015 21:46

My first box arrived today! Went a bit nuts, and now have no idea where to start!

How to establish a routine?!

lucysmam · 08/06/2015 22:15

What did you get Ninky?

I'm back to looking at niacinamide in more detail & making notes. Dp has gone to sleep on the sofa, I kept making the odd comment & wondered why he was ignoring me

GertrudeTrudy · 08/06/2015 22:25

lucysmam - I prob wouldn't recommend LRP for that then, the cicaplast is more for dry skin patches. I use the effeclar at the mo and would think it's too harsh for young skin. It's a tough one really as her skin is still young and sensitive. Dr Haushka is supposed to be good for young skin - I used neutrogena and clearasil at that age and regret it to this day so steer clear of that tat!

GertrudeTrudy · 08/06/2015 23:47

Righto folks - went a bit mental!!

I got:
COSRX NATURAL BHA SKIN RETURNING A-SOL
Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream
OST Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum
Holika Holika - Aqua Petit Jelly BB - omg the packaging, cute but impractical!
ETUDE HOUSE - Moistfull collagen mask sheet

All from different shops for under £15 to avoid the tax man and all for the princely sum of £30!!

I know some may not suit me but I couldn't resist for the price and if they don't suit me I'm happy to pass them on to others to try out

FrugalFashionista · 09/06/2015 06:41

Yep Gertrude that's the beauty of it - star products are actually quite affordable plus you'll have the joy of lots of small parcels arriving. Hope you'll enjoy your purchases!

BitterChoc I tried a sample of one of the bubble cleansers and found it potentially quite drying. I might cope with it as a weekly thing but not as a daily thing. It is a space age gadget though so I quite enjoyed the experience! I haven't tried any cleansing oils but have heard that the Japanese ones are very good.

Wombat will be interested in your experiences wit OST C20 when you are ready to try it!

Wicked your routine would probably work for me too! I use the Missha FTE as a 'toner' in am and Hada Labo Gokuyuan in the evening, your Mizon sounds similar. There are lots of liquid or semi liquid options in the Missha kit so probably you'll get an idea whether they suit or do not suit your needs after playing with them a little.

Ninky click the 'here are the basics' link in the header post to get started. No need to do every suggested step, just whatever works for you.

Lucysmam your DIY mask sounded really nice. DD1 wanted to do a face mask last night after seeing mine so I cut one from kitchen paper and dunked it in the leftover essence in my sachet. She loved it although I have to say she does not need anything for her skin, it is perfect as is...

lucysmam · 09/06/2015 07:57

Frugal, do you think just leave her for now? My two would enjoy the sheet masks I think - I saw some animal ones on ebay, the novelty would appeal Grin

I have the same Missha foundation on today (No.21) to get the opinion of the mum I asked yesterday, then will try No.23 tomorrow and see what she says.

hattymattie · 09/06/2015 09:30

I'm also interested in feedback on the OST vit C. Have stopped for a bit but may give it another go?

GertrudeTrudy · 09/06/2015 09:45

I bought the OST Vit C last night, so I'll give it a whirl and post a review after a couple of weeks. What were you looking for it to do hattymattie?

I'm hoping for a reduction in some acne/acne scars and to help with the wrinkles that have appeared on my forehead Sad

I did also get some BHA tonic aswell. I think it might be a bad idea to use them at the same time though!

ilovetosleep · 09/06/2015 09:57

Thanks so much frugal for your reply and for caring about my skin! I do seem to be almost clear today thank god. I don't think it is perioral dermatitis. its higher up along my nasolabial fold (just googles the name of facial lines!!) However, you have just amde me realise that perioral dermatitis is probably what I had this time last year just around the time DS2 was born. I went into labour with this awful spotty rash all around my mouth and it was just awful, I can't look at any photos of me when he was a baby - I've always longed to be one of those people who has a lovely post-birth photo with sunuggly new born but not this time around (or the first for that matter). Anyway I was lucky, the doctor who did DSs newborn test on the ward prescribed me fucidin HC there and then which cleared it up within a week or so (even then it was pretty stubborn)

My gel cleanser is REN so definitely SLS free, ph 4.5 so I'm told, and I have not used acids for three days now (except for my REN Clarimatte toner which is marketed as acidic but its all fruit extracts and apparently useless as an acid toner!) I hot cloth cleansed with Even Lom for years so I don't think that is a problem here, although I do need to be gentler with the muslin and that combined with the acids was probably overkill.

Did a sheet mask last night and that was lovely. Its so hard to be restrained with products when I have so many new things I want to try and also being on these threads and seeing people with such great results makes me want to throw myself back into it all, but I know its a bad idea.

Ooh not sure if its been mentioned before but the sheet mask I did last night was a Boots one (made in Korea), masque Bar anti wrinkle, it says on the front that it contains collagen but actually the third ingredient is snail secretion filtrate! Not once on the packaging does it mention snails! They're a bit pricey (9.99 for 3) but I needed an extra on their 3 for 2 promotion last week and they're actually really nice.

lucysmam · 09/06/2015 10:01

Gertrude, vit c and bha links here

here

and an interesting Snow White and the Pear blog post here.

They might be useful to you Smile

lucysmam · 09/06/2015 10:02

I forgot to say, I think the idea is vit c on a morning to reap the benefits and then bha on an evening. Will be doing some more reading on this myself before diving into the vit c serum...when my little bottle arrives...eventually Hmm

lucysmam · 09/06/2015 10:06

ilove my gp told me that the fucidin we had leftover from (quite literally!) a house full of impetigo would be good for my acne. I'm currently working through a new tube - chucked the ones we had open. I've still found the big cystic spots are stubborn to clear off using that though!

Glad to see your skin is improving Smile

GertrudeTrudy · 09/06/2015 10:10

Haha, it's awful waiting isn't it?

Cheers for those lucysmam. Yeah I was just reading the same thing there.. I might give it a whirl in the am instead. I just use a moisturising sunscreen on my face in the morning. Do you think that it would be alright over the Vit C?
I need to go on the hunt for a moisturizer now to use under the BB creams as they already have SPF.. shamefully I've only been using the suncream and slapping on some Black Rose Cream mask when my skin gets dry!

ScrambledSmegs · 09/06/2015 11:02

I got a delivery

Mizon Snail Recovery Gel and weirdly, because I don't remember ordering it at all, Returning Starfish Cream. But it seems to have been quite cheap so I'm ok with that!

I've already tried the snail gel and the starfish eye cream in tester format and they've been lovely, hopefully I won't have breakout problems with the full-size versions. I've been reading the Makeup Alley review of the snail gel in particular, and a lot of people with my problem skin have reacted to it. Eek!

Will introduce the snail gel tonight and see how I get on.

lucysmam · 09/06/2015 11:28

Yep, the waiting is exciting but frustrating! The letterbox went earlier - it was a charity collection bag . Bet I'm walking out the door for the girls when my re-delivery from Saturday gets here & I'll have to wait to open it.

Scrambled, I hope you have no reaction to the snail gel - I'm really liking it Smile

mowglik · 09/06/2015 11:44

lucysmam I am forever missing the postie and the embarrassment of having to go round my neighbours for the 3rd time in a week almost curbs my online buying Confused

Just got back from hols and have a good stash of new stuff to use but I think I was overzealous with a Vichy retinol cream sample I had and my face has been sting-y since we got back..really want to get back into a long routine

Skincare porn

Post got cutoff! Skincare porn pics Grin not all for me btw, got 3 hado labo hyaluronic lotions for myself and sis and sis in law and planning to share out the stash of masks

Have a couple of mizon stuff coming via eBay but I am officially on a no spend June now after all that shopping. Love reading the reviews on here so Ill do reviews of these items as I go along..

TheWombat · 09/06/2015 12:03
FrugalFashionista · 09/06/2015 12:10

Oooh enjoying the skincare porn Mowglik!!! Shopping vicariously via you Wink

Everyone who gets a reaction to snail gel can ship the tube to Lucysmam's husband!

Ilovetosleep I am so relieved to hear that your skin is better! Felt so guilty thinking that this thread might have triggered a painful reaction. I agree 100% that it is quite difficult to restrain sampling and product use - I'd love to slap on everything all at once impatient type A personality but my skin has a mind of its own What a fab thing that you found Korean sheet masks at Boots! Enjoy!!

No parcels here, but quite happy with my stash

OP posts:
lucysmam · 09/06/2015 12:23

Grin Frugal, he doesn't need encouragement to raid my shiny new stash!

I have another question - in the SW&TP post I linked upthread, she says along the lines of "if you look like an oompa loompa after the vit c, wipe off the residue" ... what would you wipe off with? Some sort of product? Or, just a tissue so as not to disrupt the layering you've started? Confused

I'm off to load mobile to have a mooch at your haul mowglik.

TheWombat · 09/06/2015 12:25

...and just as I pressed 'post', the postie arrived with my last parcel from Korea. The CosRX arrived in one piece - phew. For now, I need to concentrate on integrating the products I have into my routine rather than buying new stuff, so it looks like I'll be having a no spend June after all! I suspect our postie will be delighted.

I have now had 4 separate parcels containing a sample of 'Etude House Face Conditioning Cream'. Anyone tried this or had a similar sample? Not quite sure what it does!
