I've found the holy grail- of foundatio

Bloggers were raving about Kevyn Aucoins sensual skin enhancer, so I bit the bullet and got it from cult beauty- I. Not near anywhere that stocks it so had to go by colour swatches. The colour was fine, but it just wasn't as fabulous as I expected for £36. I tried primer, no primer, brushes, fingers, moisturising with embryolisse, exfoliating, and it still clung to the couple of drier areas of my skin. The other one I'd been strongly considering was Face Atelier, apparently madonna and her dancers all wear it, it's also silicone based so you don't need a primer.

It arrived today, I cleansed, moisturised and put it on with my fingers. When I looked in the mirror I was blown away!- it's got the dewy look I wanted, didnt settle into pores, covered brilliantly with a tiny bit, and makes me look ten years younger. It's supposed to also be sweat and waterproof- this is why I wanted a good foundation, going on hols I'm two weeks ive been wearing it since 2pm, no settling into creases, looks as fresh as a daisy.

It's definitely well worth getting a sample of this one, ladies, it's the BEST I've ever tried. Au recourse Kevyn aucoin! I'm a bit gutted at spending all that, I used it as a blogger suggested, with a fresh cotton bud each time, so there's literally nothing out of it- can you sell used make up on ebay?

I got mine yesterday tried it this morning. It's good I like the colour , it covers the pores on my nose but emphasises the ones on my cheeks which is a bit odd. I like the finish quite dewy on me. I want to try with a bit of primer on my cheeks tommorow.

glenthebattleostrich · 08/06/2015 08:12

I am so impressed with this. My samples arrived Friday, tried it Saturday. Perfect skin, got lots of compliments despite running around all day! Stayed looking great from 7am until bed and it feels lovely. I'm hoping the discount still works for a full size one

Sallystyle · 08/06/2015 21:07

My tester should be here soon with a bit of luck.

FuckingLiability · 08/06/2015 21:26

I've ordered a couple of the samples too. Will post an update when they arrive. I changed from Laura Mercier to Chanel foundation a couple of months ago but have recently got a tan from hols so the Chanel is now too pale and I don't want to rush out and buy more just yet as the coverage was lighter than I'd expected.

poorbuthappy · 09/06/2015 17:42

Mine arrived today. Apparently they ran out of pots!!! Will report back.

aintgonnabenorematch · 09/06/2015 17:54

Was just going to say exactly the same as previous poster!

Will report back tomorrow

poorbuthappy · 11/06/2015 08:31

Mmmm can anyone tell me how much they use out of the pot?

Shonajay · 11/06/2015 08:42

I initially got interested cos madonnas dancers are all made to wear it as its budge proof sweat proof and I'm off to Spain on Saturday, hope it works .....

I had to use more than I normally would poor but I was really impressed with the coverage. In fact it seemed to melt into my skin and so I might have used more than necessary Smile
It looked lovely though, will definitely be buying full size.

Apatite1 · 11/06/2015 10:00

I matched wheat perfectly. I used a tiny amount. Shake well before use.

poorbuthappy · 11/06/2015 10:10

Tiny as in shaking the pot and only using what was in the lid?
I'm trying to work out if Im so paranoid about using too much that I'm not using enough!!

Apatite1 · 11/06/2015 10:27

I used the bit in the lid, but dipped my finger in the pot once as well. I also blended as I went, rather than dot it everywhere and blend at the end. That pot will do me four goes I think!

aintgonnabenorematch · 11/06/2015 17:09

I'm impressed! Ivory is perfect for me, it blends well with good coverage and lasts all day.

ggirl · 11/06/2015 17:11

have ordered some samples ...baa baa

ggirl · 11/06/2015 17:11

Im really happy with the clarins skin illusion foundation I have bought recently..so need another one like a hole in my head

Sallystyle · 11/06/2015 19:10

It stuck to every fine line I have and it made me look much older. I usually look much younger than my age and don't have many lines, but this made me look awful.

I also found it pretty drying with little coverage.

I will try again tomorrow using a primer and I will moisturise more as my skin is dry right now so it might be more of a skin thing then that the foundation is bad. So not impressed so far but will give it another couple of goes.

Shonajay · 12/06/2015 02:47

U2, I read that a primer isn't great to use as it already has one in. I'd exfoliate well with a warm facecloth even, and use a good moisturiser, not too heavy, then give it half an hour and try again. It's silicone based, so the fact you found it drying could mean you've not mixed it enough- I've got really dry skin and bought the full size bottle, forgot to,shake, no coverage, looked awful. Next time was much better.

I used embryolisse moisturiser, but don't make it a heavy one, as the silicone gives enough of a dewy look. Shake Shake Shake!lol

I've tried the ivory and porcelain samples. Porcelain would be great for winter but is too pale with a tan. I reckon a mix of wheat and ivory would be perfect for my skin colour at the moment (fair, blonde, holiday tan).

Really impressed with it. It goes on well over primer, good coverage, doesn't settle into fine lines or pores and lasts really well. I only needed a small amount of touch-up after a gym visit though it wasn't a massively sweaty one.

I am now having a debate with myself over whether to buy some as I still have a load of Laura Mercier left and I hate wasting it.

FuckingLiability · 17/06/2015 08:11

FYI, the samples are very small. I got two applications out of mine and might get one more with a drop of my usual foundation to eke it out.

daftyburd · 17/06/2015 09:13

You can buy stuff to alter the foundation darker or lighter. I must check though that it's cheaper then buying two foundations.

Pastaeater · 18/06/2015 18:43

Just bought 2 samples of this - Ivory and Wheat - so hoping for the best!

ggirl · 18/06/2015 19:42

Ive tried my samples and hated it , same problems as loads of foundations for me. Sitting in my pores and glaringly obvious I'm wearing foundation...will stick to clarins

Anjelika · 18/06/2015 21:38

I am finding this very exciting (sad I know). I have ordered 3 samples as I usually wear one of two EL DW shades or a mixture of both of them depending on the time of year. Looking forward to them arriving!

aintgonnabenorematch · 18/06/2015 22:19

I have previously refused to pay a lot of money for skincare or make -up. I'll use pound shop moisturiser (and still do) so I'd have to be VERY impressed to pay more than £10 for a foundation - let alone three times that and I was very impressed and ordered a full size foundation after trying samples.

I found it to have great coverage with a small amount of product. I don't have many wrinkles anyway which is apparently unusual at my age but it didn't look dewy for me but I thought it looked lovely and even and youthful.

Wagglebee · 18/06/2015 22:42

I really like it so far. I ordered porcelain and ivory and the porcelain is the perfect match for me. I'm cool toned pale combination skin. I have that Irish pale skin iykwim.

I have a basket full of £££ foundations that are the wrong colour or just plain rubbish so it takes a lot for me to be impressed.

Used a very tiny amount with real techniques stippling brush. Bit of powder on t zone. Can't see I've any on but the coverage is still good.

Waiting to see if it causes me any breakout problems and if not then I'll be getting a full size.
