Comfortable summer shoes - guide me away from total frumpiness

I am very much the wrong side of 40 and have rubbish feet (arthritic big toe joints from running and partially dropped arches) but I like to wear dresses and skirts. Can anyone point me to some comfortable neutral coloured flat/flattish shoes that I can wear for the few weeks it is warm enough to cast my opaque tights asunder? Oh and definitely not open toes/sandals as I need them for work mainly.

I can't help I'm afraid because I am on the very same mission to no avail so far. Just crashing your thread in case I can benefit from it under the guise of reassuring you that you are not alone!

Toms

I am currently living in a pair of Blowfish flats I got in TKMaxx which are incredibly comfy but (imho) smart enough for work. I Googled them and the style is called Garnett. I have the sandy colour but it seems they also have blue ones available on Amazon (sorry I can't link as am on phone.)

I have an arthritic ankle and I have been wearing these very successfully for work:

Hotter have an amazing returns policy too - on non-sale you can return shoes up to 90 days later, even if you have worn them. Sale stuff it's 14 days. They make comfortable shoes so if they don't turn out to be comfy you can send them back.

Dodgy feet here too ...

Love these in white:

Gabor Montana Ballet Pumps

I wear with skinny navy khakis but would look fab with a little dress unless you have abnormally large calves like me

ZeroFunDame · 26/05/2015 22:25

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 26/05/2015 22:33

I love the Toast pair in zero 's third link. Go for those Grin

No help, sorry!

MissMillament · 26/05/2015 22:38

Love the Clark's ones that Shadow linked to.

LadyB49 · 26/05/2015 22:52

I have the ones that shadow linked. Brilliantly comfy.

I also have a pair of Clark's flat brogues in pale blueish greyish suede. Look great and go with everything. Sorry no link. £10 in Outlet Store.

Bunbaker · 26/05/2015 22:52

Those shoes look hideously uncomfortable and unsupportive tethersend. I have always struggled to find stylish yet comfortable shoes. I tend to stride quickly rather than walk and can't bear to wear shoes that I struggle to keep on my feet without clawing my toes.

tethersend · 26/05/2015 23:05

Which ones, bunbaker?

FoamyOne · 26/05/2015 23:38

I second Toms. So comfy. I have a few colours - the sparkly silver ones are my favourite Smile.

cantbelieveimonhere · 26/05/2015 23:50

Have you looked at Reikers? Some trendy styles and some more Grannyish

rockybalboa · 26/05/2015 23:56

I am now on my 3rd pair of these abs used to wear them for work (solicitor). Most comfortable pumps ever. Also come in black and a floral pattern,

Hush Puppies Janessa

Bunbaker · 27/05/2015 07:02

Sorry tethersend the last ones. Although I wouldn't find the other two very comfortable or supportive if I was doing a lot of walking. I just have funny feet.

I like Reikers footwear as well cantbelieveimonhere. I like Earth Spirit and bought these a couple of years ago in Shoezone. They were only £20.

I am also a big fan of Sketchers Go Walk, but they aren't really office wear.

Zebda · 27/05/2015 07:58

Gabor shoes are super comfy and can be quite pretty. Wore a pair to death last summer and they still look like new. Good range in Jones and john lewis. I just bought a pair of hush puppy moccasins from Shuh which are like wearing slippers, but they are prob a bit too casual for you, more for capris and short leg jeans. Wish I knew how to link though! Blush

ZeroFunDame · 27/05/2015 09:45

What are you MNing on Zebda?

(At the top of the page you want to copy there will be an address - click or tap that and you'll see the option to copy. Click or tap that, leave the page, go back to (say) the MN page and click paste where you want it to appear. You may need to add the double fore and aft. (This is the worst explanation ever ...

Gabor

Ok Zero you inspire me to be a better mumsnetter - let's see if this works... Smile

Zebda · 27/05/2015 22:27

Wowsers, it worked! Every day is a school day...
