Fed up of not being able to find what I want

Okay. I realise that I am bloody awkward. And I realise that what I want isn't necessarily what the shops want to sell me. But surely it shouldn't be so difficult to find:

  • a lovely soft, slouchy, white cotton button down shirt, that's about mid thigh length
  • a pair of black and white trainers which are comfortable and don't have a giant tick or N or something one, and which don't cost the equivalent of a night in a hotel. I found these but they were not very comfortable.
  • a grey cotton casual jacket, maybe a biker style or bomber jacket
  • some grey, skinny jeans with zips on the ankles

I forgot something:
A jersey skirt like this but grey. Could be midi rather than maxi but must be draped.

Zara have some charcoal grey skinny jeans with zips on ankles £30.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2015 20:01

Thanks, Toriana.

I went into the new Brum branch of Zara today. Sadly, it was just as bad as the old branch and I didn't see a single thing I liked. I didn't look at the jeans though.

Do get this !!
What I want is a navy dress, shift, knee length with 3/4 sleeve.
They would sell loads!
But none out there...

Glitteryfrog · 25/05/2015 20:20

Sleeved shift dresses? Try h&m I've got a couple of variations on shifts - more like tunics but a size down might be more shift shape.

Bunbaker · 25/05/2015 20:26

I'm after a thigh length white shirt as well and have seen this one. I'm not sure it is long enough.

Or this one

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2015 20:30

I like the second one, Bun, thanks - but we don't have a Tesco with clothes near to us.

The Whistles Uma dress is shift-y with elbow length sleeves. It's lovely and I got lots of compliments when I wore it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2015 20:34

Just found this at Dotty P's - anybody seen it irl?

River island has loads of long shirts

bloomingheather · 25/05/2015 20:37

This shirt from Topshop is knee length and slouchy - I think it looks great and is really easy to wear but might not be quite what you're looking for this
Also, MrsUltra COS tend to do navy shift-type dresses. Worth having a look.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2015 20:42

I really like the Topshop one, and in fact had a long thread on here a while back about it, but it is too long (nearly knee length on short arse little me!).

OP posts:
bloomingheather · 25/05/2015 20:55

Aw, is it? Yeah, it's pretty long on me too now that I think about it, although not quite knee length. I sometimes worry that I look a bit drowned by it!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2015 20:56

It feels so lovely that I was tempted to get it anyway, but it really does drown me. Basically, I want that, but about 8 inches shorter!

OP posts:
bloomingheather · 25/05/2015 21:10

I'm sure you probably checked, but do they have a version in the Petite section? Maybe we should lobby them to make one Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2015 21:11

They don't. :(

bloomingheather · 25/05/2015 21:19

Ach, balls!! How annoying Sad

MrsUltracrepidarian · 26/05/2015 08:10

Thanks - that Uma dress is perfect! ( But sadly out of stock except in 16...)

CycleChic · 26/05/2015 08:24

Basically, I want that, but about 8 inches shorter! buy it and take/pay someone to take 8" off the hem, then Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/05/2015 09:02

Thanks, Tween. I don't want linen though.

Cycle - the Topshop one is already about the limit of how much I would be willing to spend on one. Can't afford to then get it altered on top, and cba with the faff. Am lazy and just want to be able to buy what I want! Grin

I have just bought this from Next. It seems to tick all the boxes.

tethersend · 26/05/2015 14:34

Right, I'll have a go... But I do think that you HAVE to start ordering online Grin
