Fed up of not being able to find what I want

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2015 18:47

Okay. I realise that I am bloody awkward. And I realise that what I want isn't necessarily what the shops want to sell me. But surely it shouldn't be so difficult to find:

  • a lovely soft, slouchy, white cotton button down shirt, that's about mid thigh length
  • a pair of black and white trainers which are comfortable and don't have a giant tick or N or something one, and which don't cost the equivalent of a night in a hotel. I found these but they were not very comfortable.
  • a grey cotton casual jacket, maybe a biker style or bomber jacket
  • some grey, skinny jeans with zips on the ankles

Have you looked at Merrells? Their branding can be quite discreet.

Pantsalive · 27/05/2015 13:29

Or Skechers?

Pantsalive · 27/05/2015 13:32

Excellent price and you could always colour the logo in with a permanent marker. I once coloured in whole pair of shoes that were the wrong colour.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/05/2015 16:59

Don't like either, sorry, but I like your story of colouring in a whole pair of shoes. Grin

My daughters (18 and 20 and therefore know everything!) tell me that these are what I should get. Opinions? I like the price, if nothing else! :)

I don't like the look of them, but it's really all about comfort with trainers. No point in buying them unless they are the comfiest thing you own.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/05/2015 17:51

Nope, I don't like the look of them either - but I don't like the look of ANY of them!

OP posts:
tethersend · 27/05/2015 19:16

I'd press the fuck it button and pick the comfiest pair. Just don't look down Grin

I like those Clarks trainers..

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/05/2015 21:19

I'll try them on and report back, Bun. If I'm going to buy something bloody ugly, it might as well be cheap and bloody ugly.

OP posts:
Bunbaker · 27/05/2015 22:04

I wouldn't class £40 as cheap for a pair of shoes.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/05/2015 22:10

Cheap compared to Nike and New Balance etc.

OP posts:
Bunbaker · 27/05/2015 22:47

I don't buy expensive brands. I am a marketing person's nightmare and only buy a brand because it is good quality (like Sketchers) rather than because it is "cool"

Bunbaker · 28/05/2015 21:24

I saw this in M and S today. I think it will fit the bill for you Remus

MeDented · 28/05/2015 21:37

Have you tried the Skechers go walk? I don't like bulky trainers either, these really are the comfiest things ever & no where near as ugly as those Clarkes things!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/05/2015 22:17

Bun - Have had my eye on that M&S one for a while, and even posted it on here iirc - they have only ever got it in blue and in a size 20 in the Birmingham store though!

Dented - I did look at Skechers after seeing them mentioned on here so often, but (whispers) I though they were hideous, and they seemed really badly made. (Imvho) the Clarks things look less offensive, and definitely look better made. Sorry. Blush

I meant to say, I bought some of those gel insole things and put them in my converse- squidgy bliss.

Just find some trainers you like and get some gel liners if they're not 'bouncy' enough?

DanGleebals · 29/05/2015 08:16

Warehouse have a grey wrap midi skirt that's draped at the front. I can't link as I'm on my phone, sorry.

Bunbaker · 29/05/2015 09:18

tethersend I was thinking of doing the same. I have some Converse lookalikes and wore them all day on Monday and my feet were aching by the end of the day. They wouldn't have been if I had been wearing my Sketchers Go Walks. Which insoles did you get?

Remus I know Sketchers won't win any beauty contests, but honestly, once you have worn a pair of Go Walks all day you won't go back. They are the most amazingly comfortable piece of footwear I have ever worn on my feet - even more comfortable than my slippers.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/05/2015 15:38

Which insoles did you get, Tethers? I haven't found any lovely squidgy ones yet. No sign of the midi dress in H&M, sorry. It might have been there, but it's virtually impossible to find anything because the store is so badly laid out, and the staff appear to know nothing. No sign of 'my' skirt, either.

Tried some Go Walks on this morning. They were really wide on my little, narrow feet and felt really heavy! I can see that they might be comfortable, but I just didn't like the feel of them.

Thanks, Dan - will have a look at Warehouse.

Bunbaker · 29/05/2015 16:49

"and felt really heavy!"

Which ones did you try? I have these ones and they are as light as a feather. I find I have to size down in them as they do come up large. I normally take a 6, but buy Go Walks in a 5.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/05/2015 16:56

I think it was these.

Not fond of skater shoes - on me, at least.

OP posts:
tethersend · 29/05/2015 23:39

I got the scholl ones, Remus- they seem quite thin in the packet, but feel very squishy underfoot.

Thanks for looking out for the dress for me Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/05/2015 16:13

Thanks, Tethers. I'll get a pair and give them a try. Was it these?

OP posts:
tethersend · 30/05/2015 16:23

No, I think these were the ones I got...
