What type of jeans are fashionable at the moment?

Just bought two new pairs of jeans - one skinny (ie tight right to the ankle) and one straight leg (ie tight but then a bit looser at the ankle, not wide like a bootcut though).

Have I got this right?! Have not worn them yet so still time for a refund! They were quite expensive so hoping I will get a few years' wear out of them.

Watching this thread! Smile

dexter73 · 09/05/2015 21:42

I think pretty much any style of jeans is fashionable at the moment.

trendytoes · 09/05/2015 21:44

Well I've just bought a pair of flares as recommended by Tethers on this board and I love them!

confusedcareergirl · 09/05/2015 21:45

I do think bootcuts look dated though - I know a woman who wears them with mum boots and always think she looks a bit out of fashion

If you really care about what jeans are fashionable and will continue to be so, then I 'd say skinny jeans are on the way out. I still intend to wear them though.

debricassartcleary · 09/05/2015 21:48

What are mum boots?Hmm

sharingeverythingtwice · 09/05/2015 21:49

Bootcuts and mum boots will never be fashionable but flares/wide Bootcuts definitely coming back with the right shoes

Dansak · 09/05/2015 21:49

Skinnies turned up a bit, especially with a few rips/distressing and also flares...according to my 20 year old niece anyway Smile.

But really I'm a big advocate of whatever you feel nice in.

southeastastra · 09/05/2015 21:51

\link{http://www.johnlewis.com/the-70's-silhouette/p89016820\these are nice} but i wouldn't spend that on jeans as i wear jeans to get right mucky in Grin

sharingeverythingtwice · 09/05/2015 21:52

What I imagine when I think of mum boots

Sansarya · 09/05/2015 21:53

Judging from various young and trendy types I've seen around London, the high-waisted stonewashed nineties "mom" jean seems to be in fashion. However they were hideous then and are hideous now, even on lissome 20 year olds, so I will not be donning a pair!

Brandysnapper · 09/05/2015 21:53

The only jeans that I can ever look at myself in the mirror in and think "that's ok" are bootcut ones. I look repulsive in skinny jeans, and frumpy in boyfriend ones. Straight legs look okish - until I try bootcut ones on again and heave a sigh of relief.
So, I can never be fashionable clearly but I'll look a lot more attractive in the ones that flatter me. Which is worse I wonder?

Greengardenpixie · 09/05/2015 21:54

Flares or kickflares. Totally fashionable just now. If you dont like the flare look then bootcuts are good. Just dont wear them with mum boots and you will be fine. I had my diesel bootcut jeans on that are slightly distressed with chunky flat sandals and a black longsleeved mint velvet top over it, my hair up and hippy earrings. No frump there!!!

RingtheBells · 09/05/2015 21:55

I would wear what suits you and fits well.

sharingeverythingtwice · 09/05/2015 21:58

Exactly I have a vague idea of what is fashionable but in no way does that mean I'm going to stop wearing my skinnies, I do change the way I wear them though, like not tucking them into knee length boots for a good few years now & small roll ups at the moment.

confusedcareergirl · 09/05/2015 22:08

Oh dear
I still tuck into knee high boots Blush

Boyfriend jeans now but flares are going to get big.

lavenderhoney · 09/05/2015 22:45

I have two pairs of dark flares and pair of whistles straight jeans. I've dug out my wedges:) and wear the straight jeans atm with wedge heeled brown ankle boots.

The skinnies have been put away, along with the winter boot cut jeans, and my long leather boots have been cleaned and put away too, along with my trusty uggs:)

I have just bought some biker boots as it endlessly raining and I will wear them with floaty dresses and a short fitted leather jacket in teal, or a denim jacket.

siscaza · 09/05/2015 22:48

My university students are wearing high waisted jeans with rips on the kneesConfused skinny/straight legged and often in black. Invariably accompanied by a checked shirt!

polyhymnia · 09/05/2015 22:50

My basics will remain skinnies at the moment. Wondering whether I'm brave enough to wear flares as well - worth a try I think. Also trying to find some flattering girlfriends which I think are 'in' and might be flattering.

Not comfortable going back to boot cuts though - probably because I'm so old I'd be a bit concerned everyone would think I was still wearing them from last time round!

debricassartcleary · 09/05/2015 23:39

Thanks sharing phew not a mum boot wearer!

WD41 · 09/05/2015 23:43

Skinnies are supposed to be out - tell that to the shops and 99% of the population though!

I'm wearing boyfriend jeans lately (no rips) and have just bought a pair of slim fit from Mango. I am fed up with skinnies and think I look a bit meh in bootcuts.

VixxFace · 09/05/2015 23:45

skinny jeans with ripped knees.
I wouldn't be seen dead in boot cut or flares.

Felicitysfriend · 10/05/2015 08:49

interesting....

Filthyandgorgeous · 10/05/2015 09:06

I keep reading that flares are back but I haven't seen a single person in real life wearing them.
