Opinions on this ring combination? Picture to judge!

Just wondered if this combination of rings work ok for a wedding and eternity style?

Would I be better going for a more traditional diamond look?

I do really like purple and the significance of an amethyst but, I can't decide!

It's hard to take pictures with my phone so I've included a few for you to look at.

I love the amethyst!

Personally, I'd go for either a narrower wedding band, or same width but without the diamonds as I think it's a bit busy and detracts from the (gorgeous) amethyst ring, but it's entirely up to you

Ikeameatballs · 07/05/2015 21:13

I love them, really unusual but very elegant. I particularly like the engagement ring but both are fab.

Koalafications · 07/05/2015 21:16

Personally, I think it's a bit much.

LettuceLaughton · 07/05/2015 21:17

I love amathysts too. Very pretty stones.

To my mind it's a bit too busy as a combo - mixed stones and mixed metals is a lot going on. The amathyst ring would be nicer with a plain band, I'd say.

ShimmeringSunset · 07/05/2015 21:18

All opinions welcomed.

I do have very big fingers and knuckles so a slim ring is lost on me don't I sound nice!

Aw very pretty love them

musicmusicmusic · 07/05/2015 21:22

If you like it, does it matter what anyone else thinks?

nutellawithbananas · 07/05/2015 21:24

I love both - but I don't think they go together.
If you really want to wear on same finger I would get something plainer for the band.
But actually I'd probably keep the 2 rings and wear one on each hand...

evelynj · 07/05/2015 21:24

I think you should get an eternity band with baguette diamonds to tie in with the amethyst.

ShimmeringSunset · 07/05/2015 21:27

See, I did wonder if it was ok to mix different cuts of stones?

The wedding ring has to stay! I've had it for 15 years!!!

I love the amethyst ring, I have one similar! I'd go for a band of the same width as the amethyst one and if you want diamonds in it, have matching shape ones rather than round ones.

LettuceLaughton · 07/05/2015 21:28

No need for slim or understated! The band seems just fractionally too broad for next to the amethyst ring. it might be that that's because of the distracting effect of the round stones next to the more angular lines in the other ring.

Could you maybe do a photo with the diamonds on the band turned inward, or do they go all the way round?

LettuceLaughton · 07/05/2015 21:29

X posts. I also assumed the anarchist was the existing ring

evelynj · 07/05/2015 21:31

IS the amethyst supposed to be the eternity ring? Sorry, confused as the line of diamonds is traditional eternity. You could always just change the diamonds & use the metal! It looks good & unusual which I like. I think it's fine to mix cuts (to a point). Is it yellow gold either side of the amethyst? If so, that's good :)

carabos · 07/05/2015 21:34

That's an amethyst.

V nice carabos

My budget doesn't stretch that far, I'm afraid!

I'm jealous!

I'm adding two more pictures for the poster who asked.

One is with my wedding band turned round, and the other is with a slimmer band ring.

I really want to wear it with my existing ring though!

I quite like mixing white and yellow gold, is that a real faux pas?

Yours is lovely shimmering. The colour is very good - indicates quality.

midnightmoomoo · 07/05/2015 22:05

I like mixing metals too. Bottom line is, what do you like best? I like rings to look nice by themselves but also look nice if worn with my wedding ring as I like to mix them up a bit. If you're not sure then I'd say it's not a good choice as you won't wear it if you're not entirely happy. But if you like the combo you first showed us then go for it!

bridgetsmummy · 07/05/2015 22:09

I love them Smile

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/05/2015 22:11

I love the amethyst one (and that's coming from someone who dislikes yellow gold), I do like the mixed metals effect though. Could you wear it on your other hand? I knew a few people who wear their eternity ring in their right hand due to short fingers / wanting chunky rings.

youmakemydreams · 07/05/2015 22:44

I have big fingers and knuckles as well and would actually go for that quite happily because when you see it on my whole hand it looks better a smaller ring does just get lost on me.
The second ring you put on with it possibly does sit slightly better with the amethyst ring but personally I love both looks.

BeaLola · 07/05/2015 22:53

I love both rings but not together if. I'm being completely honest. Is it white gold next to gold as they will wear against each other quicker. I think they would look more stunning separate. Ps I have much bigger and uglier fingers

Thisishowyoudisappear · 08/05/2015 05:12

They are both nice, the amethyst is beautiful, but IMO they don't go together.
