I think it varies from between 40-70!

I sometimes find the odd fitted top, no floral patterns well cut that's really nice and sometimes you're greeted by a floral mass of 'sensibly' cut skirts and tops etC, they do tend to have some very nice fitted dresses as well. I shop very carefully there.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/04/2015 13:32

I'm 45 and consider most of Phase Eight's stuff as 'too old' for me tbh. But I have friends who wear it and look lovely in it.

Not sure about the dress - would need to see irl. I think you'd probably think it was too long.

I'm 44 and I like P8 but I thought the general consensus on here is that they are for the 'older woman'.

I think I like that dress but would need to see it. Would say it would come just below your knee. They're sized for the average UK woman I think unlike Planet who are aimed at Amazonian Germans.

TheBoov · 26/04/2015 13:49

I'm fifty and short and find Phase Eight useful for work. This time of years it's mainly weddingy stuff though.
I find their dresses are often the right length for me as I don't like too short. But the lengths vary a lot. I have a couple of winter work dresses which fall beneath the knee. That's nice when it's chilly and you're wearing boots but they don't work well with shoes.

Trills · 26/04/2015 13:55

I like that dress (I'm 30).

cece · 26/04/2015 14:00

It's a bit too floral for me but I think for someone slim and not too busty the cut could be lovely.

notnowbono · 26/04/2015 14:00

I'm 41 and like Phase Eight specifically for their faux wrap jersey work dresses which come to just under the knee, the most flattering length for me (at 5 feet 7). I tried to find similar in Hobbs but it's all too short of me, and anything that finishes at the knee or above only accentuates my rugby-player's kneecaps; M&S sizing/styling/quality control is way too erratic these days. Phase Eight sale reductions are generous, and the material is good quality - I like the vaguely 50s influenced look.

It can be a bit Bolero Central at the wedding end of the range - and the tapework detailing is very, very 'oh, look, Phase Eight'.

cece · 26/04/2015 14:01

I prefer this one

cece · 26/04/2015 14:02

Oooooooh this one is lovely!

Umbrelladilemma · 26/04/2015 14:09

I think they are for 40+ on the whole it'd you choose carefully they can be good, I do really like the fit of those jersey dresses they do, they are good quality.

I have had the hem of jersey dresses taken up by my local dry cleaners with some success in the past.

CatSwag · 26/04/2015 14:22

how much does it cost to have hems taken up?
could be an option for me
as I find things either too long or too short

Oh dear. I am under 30 and I have a lot of this stuff for work. Also love their stretch jeans as very comfortable.

Is this going to be a day dress or a special occasion dress?

DuchessDisaster · 26/04/2015 14:51

this one

I would wear this to a wedding or smart summer occasion with a navy linen jacket. I am also 5ft 4in.

alwayshavepeckham · 26/04/2015 14:54

I'm 50 & have tried it on. It didn't look great on me TBH, made my wide hips even wider, but the the length was on the knee at 5'9". Pretty fabric but quite busy.

PurpleDaisies · 26/04/2015 15:06

I'm 33 and have lots of dresses for work from there. I don't think I'm a frumpy dresser! There are pieces clearly aimed at older people (lots of mother of the bride wear) but there are some real gems to be found. Really good quality but also really good sales.

I think this dress could look lovely on anyone aged 25+. Like most things it depends how you wear it. I am 35 and I would wear it if the background was black instead of white (white washes my pale skin out too much) l.

Floisme · 26/04/2015 15:34

I'm 58 and have tried their stuff on but never bought. It's just not quite my style although I've seen other women - of all ages - look good in it.

They also seem to have an aversion to sleeves which is a bit odd as I assume they're aiming mostly at my age group. That dress in the link - which I like - is a good example.

displacementofwater · 26/04/2015 16:13

I really like Phase Eight and find it lasts a long time so worth the investment. I'm probably in their demographic now but wasn't when I started wearing it.

It would help if they put the back length in the description rather than just saying 'knee length'.

If you're thinking of having it taken up OP, be careful that the shape doesn't get lost because it comes in again at the bottom.

burnishedsilver · 26/04/2015 16:14

I think phase eight aren't sure who they're aimed at! Theres a bit of a random mix between lovely things and hyacinth bucket

Your dress is lovely.

holmessweetholmes · 26/04/2015 16:23

I'm 43 and really like some of Phase 8's stuff. Not keen on the dress though tbh.

LizardBreath · 26/04/2015 16:37

I'm 32 and bought 3 dresses from there today! I think it has got younger over the past year to compete with the 'coast' market... Or I'm old before my time!!

DrankSangriaInThePark · 26/04/2015 16:57

I have some of the most gorgeous fine wool long tops from Phase 8, although their patterns are v hit and miss, mine are plain navy or black but some look like Maria Von Trapp has been,at the soft furnishings.
The sizing btw is very very generous, I am a 12 top usually and in p8 I need a teeny-weeny!
