I'm surprised they call those culottes. They just look like longish shorts to me.

I saw these for the first time in the Hush catalogue the other day. In principle, I like the idea of them (I'm a very practical person!) but even the stunningly beautiful hush model looked dreadful in them. Truly frumpster! God only knows how they'd look on me - a flabby, middle-aged woman

TBH if you have 'cellulite-ridden thighs' shorts are probably not an item you want to wear! How about a dress or skirt instead, which would be cooler in hot weather and much more flattering? Shorts look great if you have slim legs and rubbish otherwise. Why would you want to look rubbish?

As for the Boden culottes - aren't they pedal-pushers? I always thought culottes were long - and like an A-line skirt with a division in the middle? But yes, very frumpy. Boden is awful at the moment. Loads of hideous flowery prints, frumpy pastel colours, etc.

I dont get culottes. Not even a young, thin model can make them look good, so what chance do the rest of us have?

Inammwearing mine today out for lunch with a mate who will def tell me if they are frumpy I don't feel frumpy so that's something!

I have culottes from Urban Outfitters and really like them - mine look like a midi skirt, quite fluid fabric, and I wore them last summer with tucked in t-shirts, bare legs and brogues/sandals/gym shoes. The shops seem to be calling long shorts/cropped trousers culottes just now.

Mine are from H and M I love broderie looks lovely but there is so much in the shops and there was last summer too Most of the cuts don't suit me though thats probably why I'm not keen
