Cleansers - Cheaper alternative to Eve lom, Emma hardie hot cloth type cleansers?

That's it really. Cleanser about to run out and needing to watch pennies. Currently using neals yard rose balm as a cleanser which I love but can't justify the expense currently. Is there a less toppy alternative I could try?

I like the la Roche posay one. I use it with an eve lom cloth and think it's the cloth that does the hard work! It costs about £10 from boots and is in a pump dispenser.

The Superdrug Vitamin E one gets good reviews on here, and is £2.99 inc cloth I think. I've tried it and it's nice, tho have nothing to compare it to as never used one before.

Super drug vitamin E is great. I prefer to use a flannel or a muslin cloth, as the one you get with it is a bit thin and soft for my liking!

Quick question (hope you don't mind a hijack op) - are you meant to do it every night? As I was, but then came out in loads of spots, but that may have just been my hormones...

I've just switched to Emma Hardie (bought it when M&S were doing 20% off) but used to use the Superdrug Naturally Radiant one. They are very different. Emma Hardie is more oil-based, whereas the Superdrug one is a cream and closer to the Liz Earle one. Both good, just in different ways.

SlinkyB - I double cleanse every night. Maybe you were just reacting to a different skincare routine?

I'm a big fan of the Superdrug Naturally Radiant one as well. The vitamin E range is too rich for my combination skin, but I found the Naturally Radiant cleanser every bit as good at the Liz Earle one, but a fraction of the price.

I used Emma Hardie in the past but I'm a Korres convert now. Lookfantastic.com are doing buy one Korres product get one free just now so I've bought the wild rose moisturisers & an exfoliating cleanser for £20 with free delivery. I'm trying Aldis Q10 moisturiser just now & it's waaaay better that the philosophy one I used over Christmas. V impressed for under £2.

Frankie does scrubbing away at your make-up with a Simple wipe before using that Vit E hot cloth thing count as double cleansing?! Perhaps my skin wasn't used to being so clean at night.

I'm also a fan of the Aldi Lacura Q10 night cream. Only need a tiny bit, and leaves my skin so soft.

I've just switched from Liz Earle cleanse and polish to the superdrug radiance cleanser, miles cheaper and just as good.

Funny you should say that Slinky! I used to think that a Simple face wipe followed by the Superdrug hot cloth cleanser counted as a double cleansing, but no! I really rate Sali Hughes and Caroline Hirons, both of whom say that face wipes should only be used in situations where access to water is a problem e.g. at a festival. Double cleansing is about deep cleaning by massaging the product into your skin and removing make up properly. I use a proper flannel, not one of those thin muslin cloths. I found that Simple wipes were making my skin red, especially around the eyes. Not good! I've noticed such a difference in my skin since doing double cleansing properly.

I don't know if they still do it, but Tesco had a lovely organic hot cloth cleanser that was pretty cheap.

I posted a very similar thread not that long ago. I had been using the Liz Earle hot cloth polish, have since bought the superdrug vit e range (cleanser, toner, night and day cream for less than just the Liz Earle polish) and I really like it. Yy to using a face cloth as the muslin is very thin and I feel it cleans better. Some of it is 3 for 2 so even better.

I got a huge elemis pro radiance tube 200ml for £11 on eBay (beauty products seller), it's very spready so little goes a long way - recommend as its lighter than emma hardie as well so good for summer months though it should last way longer being such a huge tube

Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Butter is very good, about £12. Its a solid oily balm. My MIL had a pot of the Neals Yard Wild Rose Balm and I used it all this weekend. OMG its good but £37 ..... no way!

@IfYouWereARiverIdLearnToFloat - ideally, it's using two different products. I use Emma Hardie first and then a REN cleansing milk.

I also rate Chamomile cleansing balm as a budget cleanser. I also use Lush Ultrabland with a flannel (you need a flannel to get it off the skin as it's quite thick and luxurious) It's around the £10 mark.

Not a ball but I like the Una Brennan superfacialist vitamin c cleansing oil. Rinsed off well.

People on here like the boots Botanics balm but I thought it left a waxy film on my face.

Raw oils are my favourite! And the most cost effective!
I blend castor oil with olive or jojoba, add a drop of lavender - and there it is the perfect combo for the oil cleansing method, all natural too, no nasties added.
