Cleansers - Cheaper alternative to Eve lom, Emma hardie hot cloth type cleansers?

That's it really. Cleanser about to run out and needing to watch pennies. Currently using neals yard rose balm as a cleanser which I love but can't justify the expense currently. Is there a less toppy alternative I could try?

Coconut oil and a hot wet cloth!

I absolutely love the Rose balm too, OP but switched to the Clinque Take the day off balm after the neal's yard started to cause me problems (I think the essential oils were the issue). It's great for me in the wilds of winter but a bit rich in summer. The Clinique is much 'plainer' in composition and less rich so is perfect for warmer weather or normal/oily skins.

The other thing I didn't like about the neal's yard was the short shelf life due to lack of preservatives. £37 fora product that is only 'safe'to use for 3 months but the pot is so generous and the product so rich that it lasted me way beyond that (more like 6-9mo). The problem with the organic, lack of preservatives thing is that I couldn't use it up in time and I was buggered if I was going to chuck half a pot away after 3 months,so you end up with this pot that is potentially a breeding ground for fungal and bacterial ick (because the preservatives which inhibit and control that growth are not present) but you've spent nearly £40 on it and you'll more than likely have loads left. NY need to either do smaller pots or sort out their use by dates. The clinique has a much longer shelf life once opened (18mo I think).

I've just started using the botanics oil balm from Boots. 1/3 off at mo so it's £6. I really like it. Used to use the Elemis one but couldn't justify another tub at £40 or what ever it is.

No!! It can't be discontinued
I've only just found it!

Coconut oil and hot cloth you say? Is it not slimy?

MrsMyrtleMarple · 08/04/2015 14:33

I take off my make up with coconut oil and a hot flannel. I then cleanse with superdrug radiance hot cloth cleanser. It's a good combination and very cheap.

I also have the Elemis at the mo, but will probably try the BS Chamomile after as it gets rave reviews.
I bought some of the Superdrug radiance and vit E range stuff after reading about them on here but didn't get on with either, though to be fair it was more the long list of synthetic ingredients and mineral oils that put me off.

Merumaya melting cleansing balm is lovely. It's about £15 in job lewis. Or the Clinique take the day off balm is about £20 but lasts forever
