Yes - lots of nice colours (I've got it in one of the greens, but bought in a shop rather than online, so no idea which one), but as MrsBadger says, cream or brown would go nicely with the teal coloured trousers, hence the putty colour suggestion.

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 12:05

pmsl @ teal trousers. Calm down, im not getting that adventurous!

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 12:08

spot on!
might suggest undoing more than on the model and wearing with a vest underneath - more flattering to larger norks than all buttoned up

can't quite visualise this on but the colour is right and the scoop neckline could be a goer. Might be worth trying it on IRL, and if you're in Topshop already they might have other good shapes in the same colour.

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 12:08

OK, slate trousers, neutral top .... now shoes, and coat... and accessories? & make up? & hair style?

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 12:12

Mrs B... if I have your reassurance i wont look like a clown

My guess for jewelry is silver & diamond? I have small diamond earings, slightly dangly, and a plain silver chain with diamond on it. (or CZ, but you get my drift)... or do I go kinda ethnic? you know... all that big stuff?

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 12:20

big stuff need not be ethnic and is better for every day than bling - it makes more of a statement for less money.
Think of it as an accessory like a, a, hat, or a handbag than as jewellery in the Small Gold Earrings.

Try some strings of long beads or a chunky pendant - maybe a shell one along these lines.

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 12:30

lol @ bling!

Its more like this type of thing

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 12:32

with the polo shirt though... what would you wear with that?

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 12:37

ok not bling then
but you see my point.

Personally I wouldn't wear a necklace with the polo shirt - there's enough interest at the neckline with the collar and the buttons (and perhaps the white vest), but all the girls I see in the street seem to be wearing long beads over everything.

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 12:43

DS would have long beads ripped off me, or strangle me! I have these ballet style black shoes, but suede-y... are they OK with this outfit? I cant imagine boots with them velvet trousers, they seem abit casual... or am I way off the mark?

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 15:01

ballet flats very good!

boots don't need to be formal - try Clarks for casual flat boots, though I think suede or a waxy nubuck-type finish may go better with the velvet than shiny leather

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 15:39

Just a coat now for that outfit

Yay/nay?

The coat I really like is for ...err... not my size

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 15:46

Here
I like that sort of thing...

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 15:47

Not the 1st one, against the second, its very scruffy studenty.

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 15:59

Mac is on the right lines but wat you really want is something single-breasted with a v neck - this kind of shape but probably not quite so fluffy...

more like this perhaps?

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 16:02

aaaah, id look like a hooker!

and, not sure I like a wool one... reminds me of my days as a child with the school duffel coat.

I liked here , but, over a big bum... you can imagine!

Blondilocks · 01/11/2006 21:17

OOOh that coat is lovely.

I got some black cords from Dorothy Perkins - they look more velvet from a distance. The main problem is that they collect millions of bits & fluff & furs :S They were only £20.

QuootiePieBANGERSandMash · 03/11/2006 11:49

am I mad?

MrsBadger · 03/11/2006 12:46

well if you want to look like your grandma's bedjacket...

Their other teal stuff (just do a search for TEAL) is pretty nice tough - love the flower print top.

QuootiePieBANGERSandMash · 03/11/2006 12:49

[grin ] thought it was abit....frilly, and not in a good way. DH might be getting shot of our TV soon... so, ill have a big spend -up on clothes Better write down everything from this thread....
