Give them a try - you're only a 16, so not exactly big. Have seen lots of recomendations on here for Gap trousers - saying that you need to collar a helpful assistant, and be prepared to try on loads of pairs - might be worth a try too.

QuootieSpookypie · 30/10/2006 22:19

velvet slouchy trousers

those are them! what do you reckon? if you click on the show colours thingymagig you can see shape properly. they also have cord ones i see... boden comes up big ime btw

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 30/10/2006 22:23

Yes - they're lovely.

QuootieSpookypie · 30/10/2006 22:25

Better be nice for £69 . I like the slate, but, might it look like washed too many times black? And what would you wear on top?

The babycords in boden are drawstring... not good for post pregnancy () tummy!

slate is nice grey (v this season). definitely no drawstrings!. suggested these as idea for trouser shape really... sure you can find similar / cheaper elsewhere. got some nice slouchy / boyfriend jeans in next... they prob have trousers in same shape. jeans were 34 quid.

QuootieSpookypie · 30/10/2006 22:53

Righty- o , so velvet and/or cords, slate is a good colour... ill have a look around when im out and about.

What about tops for these? And whats this t-shirt layering thing?

controlfreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaky2 · 30/10/2006 23:04

what colours do you like / normally wear?? brown might be nice with your hair colour (looks awful on me... hence my liking for grey).
what size "chest" are you?? if on generous side would suggest v necks every time.
you can layer a tank over a t shirt, a camisoley thing under a v neck etc. breaks up the lines if you are largish (which i am).

QuootieSpookypie · 30/10/2006 23:11

I usually wear browns, creams... burgundy, that sort of pallett. Chest is 36G (BFing!!) but doesnt look overly voluptuous due to a lovely BFing bra.

I like the idea of tank tops, but imagine them with shirts (too smart though) and not sure if it look right with a t-shirt? never seen it though...

oh, and if you normally suit burgundies and browns, just try a couple of things in (eg) oranges and scarlets - Per Una has a v good Brownish Stuff rack at the moment.
A bit of flattering colour goes a long way way to brightening up muted basics (says the woman whose winter wardrobe mainly consists of brown and olive cords and combats paired with red, orange or teal tops)

QuootieSpookypie · 31/10/2006 14:35

couldnt have orange or scarlet with them slate trousers... ahhhh! its so complicated!! Ill look at M & S though when im next in Camberley.

controlfreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaky2 · 31/10/2006 18:42

no no no. the orange etc with the browns (not the grey). surely you're a bit young for m and s??

QuootieSpookypie · 31/10/2006 18:44

M & S has some nice thing.... Right next to tesco, so im always going in

QuootieSpookypie · 31/10/2006 18:44

What can I wear with the slate? i think i might get them boden trousers.... they looked really nice

OP posts:
SecondhandRose · 31/10/2006 21:30

Heather and lilac will look nice with slate.

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 09:00

Will I not look fat in heather or lilac? I dont think ive ever worn a purple...

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 09:43

have looked at the slate trousers now and they look more blue than grey to me - brown or beige very good with blue.

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 09:44

oh, and the woman in the Boden pic is wearing teal with them - now that's a fab colour.

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 09:48

Ill have to have a look at the pic again... teal? All these new colours

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 09:51

seen the top... love that colour What style of top though? Theres a henley (??) below it, but, I have a red top like that, and it looks scruffy

MrsBadger · 01/11/2006 11:10

just a plain cotton v- or scoop-neck will be fine if the right colour - don't get a £28 Boden one though, go to Dorothy Perkins or Topshop or somewhere and try lots on.

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 11:45

These trousers (the boden slate ones)

this top?

JackieNo · 01/11/2006 11:50

How about with this top in the putty or white, or even possibly black?

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 11:59

putty and slate? This slate thing's very hard...

SaintQuootiepie · 01/11/2006 12:00

the magenta is nice And the sea green... but, in RL they might be very bright.
