Please give me your honest opinions on my hair. I simply cannot decide if it is a bit "meh" or OK. Or am I just not seeing it in it's true wondrous beauty - it is actually stunning and I cannot see it ? Is it aging? Naff? A bit dry looking? Please please give me you first thoughts.

I have an appointment booked for Friday and I am going to give the (new to be but v experienced and highly recommended) stylist free reign. I kind of suit short hair (OK face shape/cheekbones/skin) Happy to go cropped. I just want something a bit...edgier? Less mumsy? Funky? Wild? Exciting?

My main motivator at the moment is to stop the constant dying - the colour you see it fake - am about 70% grey/white at the front/parting and about 30% the rest. Roots not showing that much in the pic as I have painted them with a grey-cover-sticky-things - but there is about 3/4 of an inch there. I would love to say greyed prematurely..Grin) - but am 42. So there is a strong temptation to just buzz cut it and then grow it out.

I was, at the end of last year, planning on growing longer - but I think I would be better off doing that once the dye has gone. Also the reason I was going to grow it longer was to be able to put it up...as it suits me better....er...so....maybe I should just cut it off.

Arggghhh.... I have spent hours on pinterest. I am bored of trying to decide.

What do I dooooooooo Help me. me? midlife crisis...not me

Love that you keep coming back to show us your hair, so interesting. Your curls are gorgeous and you look fantastic.

Someone reminded me of this thread the other day. So 5/6 years on I have still had zero regrets growing out the grey. Unlikely to ever go back to the pixie cut (was quite high maintainence) but glad I did it to ditch the dye.

I am nearly 49 now. Grey. Probably look my age. But being older is better than the alternative!

Actually got some make up on so I thought I'd pop a current photo. I have my curls back in spades. Tis a bit frizzy today - and this is about as bad as a "bad" hair day gets. But I personally think my bad hair days these days are better than even my good hair days back in 2015.

Your hair looks fab, I thought this was a zombie thread initially and was glad to see a proper update! I love that your curls came back.

ChoporNot · 26/08/2021 23:00

@TheOneWithTwoParties absolutely a zombie thread Grin. Bit like me....

And actually older than I said ^^ I am nearly 50 not nearly 49....Amusingly I think I messed around with my age in the original post...in the vague hope people wouldn't work out who I was who was I kidding...full on photos of me

But even earlier this evening I managed to chop a year of my age.......obviously the HRT not working as well as I thought! These days I really don't give a fuck about much about my age...so was truly just a typo.

megletthesecond · 26/08/2021 23:16

My curls need soft water and the planets to be aligned just right to go like that.

ChoporNot · 27/08/2021 08:26

Thank you. Don't feel it today (too much Wine last night. Look and feel about 87 years old!!!

I really like your hair, the length and width from the curls really suits you. I personally wouldn't go shorter though & I would definitely get a few blonde highlights which would break the colour up abit and help blend greys.

Hummingbird1950 · 27/08/2021 15:44

@Tanaqui

I'm with whoever said darker- especially after seeing the old pic (stunning!). Try tons of coconut oil to try and recondition and get that curl back (though I used to have ringlets and now just have waves, maybe it's just age? Yours is a ton better than mine though!)
Its hormones changes the curl

Thank you for the update. I too have grown my grey in and mostly there now! Looks fab! Well done. I have no regrets and I'm so glad I did it too.

Napoleon66 · 27/09/2021 16:27

Great thread and thanks for the updates.
You look wonderful.

I'm in early days of ditching the dye. You're a great inspiration!

Disabrie22 · 27/09/2021 21:11

I remembered you the first time round as loved the curls - you look really beautiful in these snaps

TheVanguardSix · 27/09/2021 21:22

Oh I love this!!! It's a proper time-lapse, OP. Brilliant. The unzombie thread! Well... you look absolutely stunning then and now, with all hair styles and shades throughout the years.
I have to say, this is one of the best threads I've come across in ages.
