Need a *SPECTACULAR* wedding outfit!

I have 2 weddings to go to - one in Dec and another in Feb which is my sisters wedding.

I had baby No 2 last Dec and since then I've lost (or will have by the time the 1st wedding arrives) about 3 stone.

I'm feeling pretty good and really want to treat myself - I was something spectacular that fits me like a glove and makes me look like a million dollars - I'm not asking too much am I.

I'm 25 and in a size 10/12 so I'd like something elegant but also fashionable - but not too fashionable. Would like to show a bit of skin but not too much (esp as it's winter!!!!)

Anyone know of such a dress????? PLEASE

Hi there sweetheart, Ive got a wedding looming in early December, and am looking for an outfit, we live in Spain and the wedding is back n the uk, I have no idea of what to wear? dp and I went shopping today, hes sorted and looking absoultely gorg and fit in a brown pin striped fitted suit! I didnt see very much, all the shops are full of the female pinstripe trouser suit, which I like, but think we could end up looking a bit Harold and Hilda!! The only dresses I saw were all empire line, not sure its for me?
Will be watching this thread with interest!!

First stop Coast and we'll work up from there..

hatwoman · 24/10/2006 20:26

i went to a wedding recently and found several gorgeous outfits in coast - bustier tops with little tie belts with matching or contrasting skirts - mostly very sexy pencil skirts. various colours and fabrics. effect is strapless dress. combine with a warm wrap for winter

hatwoman · 24/10/2006 20:27

cross posted with mrs b - great minds etc

sweetheart · 25/10/2006 09:27

I love Coast - it's usually my 1st (and only) stop - but all there stuff gets the same after a while - I want something a bit different - unusual! Perhaps a one off from a little boutique or something!

any colour preference?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 25/10/2006 09:37

how about this?

sweetheart · 25/10/2006 09:49

Anything but black, white or cream!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 25/10/2006 09:50

okay. that narrows it down!

sweetheart · 25/10/2006 09:50

thanks pmd - not really what i had in mind but thanks for looking. I don't really suit dresses that have floaty skirts as I have a big bottom and they always cling and look horrible!

What sort of budget are you looking at? And do you need 2 separate outfits, or are you hoping to wear the same both times?

sweetheart · 25/10/2006 10:07

I'm hoping to wear the same for both as there will be no guests the same. Uuummmm budget is a hard one - if I found the perfect dress I think I'd ignore the price tag just this once!

Do you fancy a Diane von Furstenburg wrap dress then? Or another one in red (though not a wrap one)? (sorry if these are way off - still trying to get an idea of what you're after). MrsBadger's often around and is the best person for this sort of thing.

sweetheart · 25/10/2006 10:51

thanks for the idea - I think they are a bit plain for a wedding, I would wear those as casual or to work

[ooh, no pressure eh Jackie?]

perhaps try Phase Eight ? Their dresses are generally on the classic side of fashionable but benefit from being tried on as they're sometimes a bit too staid for 25. They have a gold lace Galaxy-type dresses that could be fabulous for a wedding

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 25/10/2006 10:52

That's fine - hopefully MrsBadger will be back soon.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 25/10/2006 11:09

what about this?
actually, I might get it...

purplemonkeydishwasher · 25/10/2006 11:09

sorry, bottom left. teal dress.

badkarma · 25/10/2006 11:09

Oooh wow lovely

Or here

I know you said no black but this is so unusual here

Ah actually i have just realised that those links might just take you to the front page.. well, the top dress was: red Beth dress at £120, the second one was: Tafeta prom dress at £120 and the third one although black is amazing, Mariana dress which is also £120

TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 25/10/2006 11:14

would you be prepared to pay net-a-porter prices?

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 25/10/2006 11:16

That's a spectacular dress, LiliLaTigresse!

TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 25/10/2006 11:19

lovely, isn't it? there are a surprising number of not too expensive (well, kind of...)but original dresses on there I found

TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 25/10/2006 11:22

gorgeous and easier to wear again
