Wedding is in June. Church service, hotel sit-down meal then evening disco. It's my second wedding but DP's first.

I'm 5'6", size 10/12 at moment (but on a diet!), have long red hair, and am mostly in proportion except for my FUGLY upper arms which cannot be shown! I look good in ivory and cream but would consider a colour.

I have a couple of options already in my wardrobe, but the wedding is now bigger than I'd expected so I'm not sure they're dressy enough for a hotel reception.

Ideally I'd wear this Issa dress but it's sold out and I could never have afforded it anyway.

I love drapey stuff, ruching, long things look nice on me.

One of my possible dresses is This, in cream WHICH I ONLY BOUGHT FOR FUN BUT LOOKS NICER ON THAN YOU'D EVER HAVE EXPECTED, HONESTLY.

The other is this, in cream.

Maybe something in Jersey material? All possibilities considered! Thank you in advance.

I like the cream one with the lace - why don't you fancy wearing it? The original teal colour is nice too

The others aren't really dressy enough if you're going for a bit more dressy

Sorry I can't resist but is one of your arms good enough for showing cos this one shoulder dress is lovely Grin

And I know you only wanted to spend a hundred but this £200 dress is utterly AMAZEBALLS and would have cost £2300

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/02/2015 13:43

That ebay dress is pretty! Maybe I could spend 4 months just exercising one arm? ;)

I like the lace dress but I bought it for £25 on Amazon and I can't get that out of my head. It must look cheap??

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/02/2015 13:45

Wow, that second ebay dress is STUNNING. That's absolutely perfect, except I'd get the train removed so I could walk around. That's BEAUTIFUL though, BEAUTIFUL.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/02/2015 13:46

It'd be £240 with postage, and if it didn't fit, I couldn't return it.

Is it a bit posh for a second wedding? I wore chiffon and satin to my first one. Ben though that was just register office then marquee at parents' house.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/02/2015 13:47

*Even though, not Ben

I wore a bigger dress for my second wedding than my firstGrin

That's such a fab dress isn't it. It's unaltered so there might be some give in the chest for fitting. I love the buttons all the way down the back but it would look equally nice cut straight across

LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2015 13:50

I cannot possibly see how the seller arrives at £40 postage, that's mental. You could drive there and back for less

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/02/2015 13:51

I was a size 14/16 for my first wedding!

That's such a gorgeous dress. I'm really tempted, but it's a fortune and it's No Returns unless damaged or misrepresented. How are you meant to buy a wedding dress without trying it on?! And the shop's in Crewe, so quite a try from Berkshire.. Gorgeous though, really gorgeous.

I'm getting married for the second time this year and am wearing a bigger dress than my first. Nothing is too big for a second wedding. It's not less important.
Have you tried bhs, debenhams and Coast latter two may have sales. Also monsoon. I was spoiled for choice looking at those. I wanted bridal but not meringue.

LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2015 13:58

Sorry, I meant bigger as in flouncier, more weddingy, more money than my first Grin

I knew my second marriage would last - no reason to just have a 25 dress from Amazon - unless of course you really love it!

You could post a pic in style and beauty of you wearing it - I promise if it looks cheap someone very forthright will tell you.

I too love that dress, it would look so amazing on someone tall and slim (like you) - the way it cuts under the bust with that silk crossover bit is so elegant

LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2015 14:01

Hmm Berkshire is a much posher area than where that dress is from - is there any second hand posh dress or bridal shops near you where you could get your money back if it didn't fit.

I don't think the returns policy would hold up on that dress, there's bound to be minor marks on it from being on the shop floor - which the seller hasn't detailed in the listing - if there are any it gives you good cause to send it back

Lardylassnomore · 15/02/2015 14:01

Try TK Maxx online

You're going to hate me - another 200 quid new dress with sleeves - this is lovely

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/02/2015 14:43

I could NEVER hate you. You're so good at this, it's like having an amazingly talented stylist!

I looked at the CupidCouture website and now I want to wear this:

I'm meeting my friend for a day's shopping/bridal makeover in April. I'll be thinner by then (or at least know that I'm NOT going to be a size 8 by June!) and might have more money so I could wait till then... I'm just getting panicky.

I just asked DP what he imagined I'd wear and he said, "a simple, elegant dress. Not a meringue. Maybe knee-length?"

Monsoon and Coast are great ideas, I love both those shops.

LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2015 14:53

Is that silvery grey?

It's fantastic!!!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/02/2015 14:54

This Monsoon dress is gorgeous, but £300. This kind of thing I think (?) would be perfect.

I need someone to be flogging one of these on eBay.

Yes, silvery grey. Isn't it amazing?! £300.

I clearly need to find another £200 from somewhere.

OP posts:
LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2015 14:56

Ha! I saw that one and nearly posted it but didn't because you never know what you get with a copy - it could be fab, it could be dreadful

LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2015 14:57

Sorry, duh - that's the real thing - they have copies of it cheap on EBay

LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2015 14:57

pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=141537005494

Cheaper anyway, 200
