Please help me find a wedding dress for under £100!

Wedding is in June. Church service, hotel sit-down meal then evening disco. It's my second wedding but DP's first.

I'm 5'6", size 10/12 at moment (but on a diet!), have long red hair, and am mostly in proportion except for my FUGLY upper arms which cannot be shown! I look good in ivory and cream but would consider a colour.

I have a couple of options already in my wardrobe, but the wedding is now bigger than I'd expected so I'm not sure they're dressy enough for a hotel reception.

Ideally I'd wear this Issa dress but it's sold out and I could never have afforded it anyway.

I love drapey stuff, ruching, long things look nice on me.

One of my possible dresses is This, in cream WHICH I ONLY BOUGHT FOR FUN BUT LOOKS NICER ON THAN YOU'D EVER HAVE EXPECTED, HONESTLY.

The other is this, in cream.

Maybe something in Jersey material? All possibilities considered! Thank you in advance.

And one at 168

that eBay listing - they may state no returns, but if you open a case then you will get a refund. I have to say £40 postage is extortionate - a decent courier would hardly charge a tenner fully insured.

blue hoss

ghost again

LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2015 15:10

That Ghost dress is fab - what a bargain!

Hire this

Or one of the others

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/02/2015 15:13

I love both those ghost dresses! Has anyone seen that "nude" colour IRL? Is it like hold (fab) or beige (not so fab)?

*gold, not hold

Hiring it is GENIUS. I'd disregarded doing that as I thought it'd still be £££££. But no! Perfect. And you can try on 3. I think this is the solution.

Is this really dull? hire.girlmeetsdress.com/collections/wedding-guest-dresses/products/the-daphne-maxi-blush#

I LOVE this. Again, need thin arms though: hire.girlmeetsdress.com/collections/wedding-dresses/products/the-bailey-maxi-blush

What about Phase Eight dress, cream lacy, called Amory at £110. Sorry, can't do the link. It is nice though for a not over-the-top second wedding frock.

DonttouchthatLarry · 15/02/2015 16:01

I got my wedding dress off ebay - it was an above the knee Monsoon one, woman had got it half price in the sale but then not worn it. I paid £29.99 for it, and don't care how cheap it was as I loved it! It was only £125 new anyway Wink Wear your Amazon one if you like it and will feel good in it, price doesn't matter Smile

irregularegular · 15/02/2015 21:51

No, I think the first one could be lovely if it is a really good quality. I think the second one probably does need very lean arms to look good. My upper arms are my weak area - even when I was a teeny tiny 6-8 they still looked flabby in comparison to the rest of me. It's just their shape! So I'm always looking for sleeves too.

Can I just say a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped me on this thread? I feel SO MUCH BETTER now. I was really panicky before. I have a plan:

  1. Continue with diet/exercise;
  2. Review the situation in April; try on current dresses, see if I could get away with sleeveless (prob not unless I pray to God and sprinkle Lourdes water on them);
  3. Look again at HIRING a fantastic dress. That's been a revelation - I had NO IDEA hiring was so cheap!
  4. Find something amazing;
  5. Look incredible in June. :)

Thanks so, so much again. you lot are AMAZING.
