ive recently had my eyes opened to the fact that my loose fitting, baggy and elastic waist trouser & joggers, are although comfortable, not doing me any favours.

i have been waiting until i could get back into my pre pregnancy jeans. But i really need to embrace my new size and shape now.

i am 5ft 2inch tall and about a size 14/16 lower half, but i have a tummy and bum. Jeans/trousers that fit in the legs/hips, have a massive gap at the back of the waist band.
All seem to be designed for flatter/smaller bums.

i am over weight, but i am curvy... on hips, tummy and bottom.. suggestions please?

Try river island amelie jeans. I have an hourglass figure with plenty of curves in the bum, hips and (since giving birth 9 months ago) tummy.
They are made of a nice firm denim which is strong enough to suck you in but also has a little stretch to keep them comfy.

I never thought I'd find Flattering comfy jeans for my size 18 bum in river island, but I now have four pairs!

bantamgirl · 07/02/2015 19:25

These jeggings are amazing, so comfy but look good on.

www.yoursclothing.co.uk/P/Black_Denim_Jegging-(23752).aspx

They are elasticated so you should order a 14. It's a shop designed for the curvier lady.

They also do jeans.

Thanks for taking the time to reply - I'll give both suggestions a try.

TO at Sainsburys do lovely dark denim or black straight jeans and skinnies. I have about half a dozen pairs of each colour. really comfy with a wee bit of stretch, not too teenage or too frumpy, and with a nice mid rise waist so you don't get tummy overhang OR feel like you're being sliced in half across the middle Grin

I'm 5'5 and a 14/16 with a curvy bum, hips and waist - I have the 'where's my arse supposed to go in these' problem too! I usually loathe buying jeans but these ones are great, only £16 a pop and don't make my thighs look like over stuffed sausages...

They also do nice work trousers in the same range that (gasp!) accommodate the fact that you might have hips that go out and a waist that goes in...it's a revelation!

KnitFastDieWarm · 07/02/2015 22:19

TU at Sainsburys not TO! Grin

SirChenjin · 07/02/2015 22:22

I've just recently bought a pair of M&S jeggings - absolutely brilliant things that look like skinnies (so great for boots), but a high waist to hold in my stomach and plenty of room for my bum without that awful back gap on the waistband.

Out of interest - what do you all wear on top when you're wearing skinnies to flatter the curvy bum?

KnitFastDieWarm · 07/02/2015 22:23

I see you're 5'2 - they also do both regular and shorter leg lengths which could be handy

Rosieliveson · 07/02/2015 22:25

Next denim leggings (really just skinny jeans) fit my big tum and wobbly bottom nicely Grin

KnitFastDieWarm · 07/02/2015 22:28

I tend to wear longish but closing fitting jersey tops - too loose and I look like a little tent/like I'm 6 months pregnant...

I have a lot of phase eight tops - like these but plainer colours (can't link on phone but m.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/phase-eight/tops/evie-print-top/301620395) that have some neckline details to balance out my shape but still show off my waist

Postchildrenpregranny · 07/02/2015 22:30

At the other end of the price spectrum Not your Daughters Jeans are brilliant .John Lewis sell them but they are about £150 .Half that in USA .you need at least two sizes smaller .If I ever get to my target healthy BMI weight(sighs) I am going to buy another pair .They do all styles and several shades of blue plus black and white .
They are long wearing; I put on weight ,gave mine to my curvy Dd1,who wore them (two pairs) almost daily for two years (that sort of job but they started off quite smart) lost a lot of weight and gave them back .Ibhave lost some and they are now too big for me ,so have gone to charity shop as still Ok .Bit of an investment though.I might try Tu ! Am in Monsoon at present but I am really between their 12and 14.,,

KnitFastDieWarm · 07/02/2015 22:30

This kind of shape is quite flattering on hourglass ladies - close fit but not too clingy

please recommend jeans trousers for curvy bum and tum
KnitFastDieWarm · 07/02/2015 22:31

I second not your daughter's jeans if you're feeling flush! They are fab Smile

KnitFastDieWarm · 07/02/2015 22:35

TU are great post and I say that as someone who can't usually buy cheap jeans due to being voluptuous of bum Blush - definitely give them a go. I also like the fact that they are properly dark denim without those fade lines in the legs that make my thighs look highlighted down the middle (which is NOT what they need, trust me!)

Bunbaker · 07/02/2015 23:39

Another vote for Tu jeans. Mine cost me £14 last year and they haven't shrunk in the wash and they fit properly (my waist is 12" smaller than my hips)

Suttonmum1 · 07/02/2015 23:52

Another vote for Sainsbury's. I spent ages trying the NYDJ in John Lewis but found the sainsbury's ones much better.

lotsofcheese · 07/02/2015 23:57

M&S jeans are great - i'm only 5"1' & they are high-waisted & have different leg lengths. They wash well & don't stretch.

Found Tu jeans a waste of money - stretched a full size after 1 weae

Bunbaker · 08/02/2015 10:13

I find that M and S jeans shrink - not in fit but leg length as well.

doasIsaynotasIdo · 08/02/2015 10:21

I have a similar problem OP, and discovered that Evans jeans fit me well. They start at a size 14, come in three different lengths and a variety of styles. I almost cried with joy when I put a pair on and they actually fit! (This was after a very depressing morning spent trying to squeeze pair after pair of jeans from 'normal' shops past my knees and not getting any further than mid thigh). They are comfy, affordable, wash well and no one can tell they are from a plus size shop. They also have a petite range for women 5' 3 and under. The petite range does not have jeans, but they do have other trousers if you are also looking for Jean alternatives. Evans jeans

doasIsaynotasIdo · 08/02/2015 10:22

Fwiw, I am 5' 6 and a size 14/16 on the bottom and 14 on top.

zipzap · 08/02/2015 11:23

Another vote for Sainsburys jeans - they've fitted and lasted much longer than the ones that I had from m&s.
They also do great cords which are fab when it's cold outside and you want to be a bit warmer!

NoMoreCake · 08/02/2015 14:58

fab.
yep, it will be a revelation to find trousers that come in at the waist!!

i can completely understand your changing room moment doasisay!

agree about the light/washed out stripe done the front, im not a fan either.

although Im short i need regular length trousers, so length shouldn't be an issue.

unfortunately Next seem to be the worst for me.especially for the gaping at the back.
i tried m&s jeggings 35pounds, really nice, but ideally need trousers/jeans at the moment.

luckily i have sainsbury's TU department near me. so will be there on monday morning! Then i'll be off to evans and river island!

you have all given me hope Smile thanks!

If you have a TK Maxx near you they might have some Levi curve jeans in at a knock down price. I have some Levi demi curve and they fit in all the right places as well.

NoMoreCake · 08/02/2015 20:32

its not the best tk maxx, but ill give it a shot. Ta!

as i think ill need a few pairs, to kick of my new look, i dont think i could spend 150 on not your daughters jeans. But ill keep them in mind in case someone i know is going to the states.

Another vote for N YDJ here. Have lots of pairs and wouldn't wear any other brand. Just got a couple of pairs on NYDJ site clearance section for half price.

dexter73 · 08/02/2015 21:11

Levi's still has it's sale on with free delivery and returns.
