How can Hackett have it SO WRONG and still survive?

There is one on the corner of the rd I work in. Never anyone in there

Just walked past on way back from coffee shop and they have this toe-curlingly awful window display with some naff thing saying "wear your rugby shirt with your dinner jacket" and such horridnesses.

Errr, no. Everyone will think you are a twat if you do that.

WHO is this aimed at?

Um, Hackett has gone the way of Burberry, I think. I used to think they were sort of ok, but they just have the wrong associations now, I think ...

NOMurDErousPLUME · 17/10/2006 10:25

There is a lot of Hackett stuff in a shop in town. Really minging, but the c**vs (sorry) love it, it looks especially stylish with adidas tracky bottoms tucked into Rockport boots, topped off with a fetching baseball cap.

Good look, no ?

CountessDracula · 17/10/2006 10:25

sorry the chavs like wearing rugby shirts and dinner jackets?

Not round us they don't!

loved hackett in the 80's

NOMurDErousPLUME · 17/10/2006 10:28

anniemac, that rugby shirt/collar up/pearls look sounds like the archetypal Sunday Sloane

NotQuiteCockney · 17/10/2006 10:29

Hmm, don't think men in rugby shirts look thick to me, so much as gang rapists ...

ooh yes

FIL once dragged me to Twickenham for some dreadful Rugby game, I saw more horrid shirts, nasty trousers, dodgy shoes and bloody Drizabones in one afternoon than I had in the rest of my life put together

It's the polo shirts that chavs love.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 17/10/2006 10:40

Have you seen the kids' stuff - even they look embarrassed to be wearing it.
