Final (desperate) attempt at something to wear for night out (with pic)

Spidergirl8 · 18/12/2014 15:23

Recently posted how I have no social life and therefore nothing to wear. I have an imminent night out to go to and have spent most of the afternoon feeling rubbish and trying things on that make me feel frumpy, flabby armed etc.

This is my final hope I think. If anyone can let me know what they think, but perhaps unlike some comments on one of the other post be nice Blush I'd rather not have the comments about my dress style being rubbish as I feel very self concious posting a picture.

I think the dress is lovely, the tights work, it's just the shoes that look a little off. Do you have any with some colour, or maybe a more dainty heel?

Spidergirl8 · 18/12/2014 15:30

Thanks for that nabootique. I don't own any heels, other than those boots and court shoes. So a bit stuck!

Agree with pp- looks fab except the shoes!
I think anything a bit more dainty should work. Love the dress!!

2LittleFishes · 18/12/2014 15:32

Court shoes might work- post some pics of what you've got Smile

GiantGaspingSatanicCyst · 18/12/2014 15:32

I think the outfit looks great :) In an ideal world I'd probably put some slightly different boots with it as Nabootique said, but the ones you have certainly don't look out of place. Have fun!

emeline · 18/12/2014 15:35

It's a good outfit. I like the boots and tights with that dress. You look ace! You must be mad thinking you have flabby arms!

GiantGaspingSatanicCyst · 18/12/2014 15:37

Where is the dress from, I really like it.

Christmasbargainshopper · 18/12/2014 15:38

I think you look good. Its your posture that lacks confidence. :( Remember if you don't like your arms to hold them out from your body, though I personally don't think you have a problem.

Do you have a nice cardigan to balance out the outfit?

Spidergirl8 · 18/12/2014 15:40

Thank you again for comments- really appreciate it. I literally have no one else to ask and don't want to make a fool of myself. The courts shoes are terrible 90s style square block heel that I haven't worn in ages. Won't embaress myself by photographing.

I used to have loads of lovely heels but gave them all to a charity shop when I was feeling rubbish- because I don't have a social life! Don't ask, I know it's a selfish and self pitying concern to have, was post baby etc and think I may have had baby blues.

Looks like you have nice hair too! Good you can get a reality check here.

Sometimes I've tried on everything I've got and nothing looks ok. It's all to do with nerves and low mood, not yer actual reality!

Reality is you look good. Hope you can relax into it and have fun. You deserve it.

Spidergirl8 · 18/12/2014 15:50

Thanks Emeline, that's a lovely message.

Have fun

WipsGlitter · 18/12/2014 15:53

Love the dress, where's it from! Shoes are a bit clumpy but if you are sitting down no one will notice. I had to walk to a night out recently so had biker boots on but reasoned no-one would see as my feet were under the table all night!

OnlyLovers · 18/12/2014 15:59

I think you look amazing from head to toe! Daintier shoes would look frumpy, IMO; I love the contrast between pretty, flowing dress and the 'harder' look of the boots.

Have a great night!

Cluffyflump · 18/12/2014 16:01

I like your outfit!
You have great legs and I can't see how on earth you have a problem with your arms!
Put on a big smile and have a fab night Xmas Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/12/2014 16:37

Have you got a little black jacket that you could pop over the dress? It might help to balance out the boots. Not sure about the bare arms, black tights plus those boots.

Milmingebag · 18/12/2014 16:43

I think you have a great figure and that dress is too big for you. Love the boots.

What sort of night is it? Could you perhaps go down the skinny jeans, nice slouchy top with those boots and a standout necklace instead?

RoRoRosie · 18/12/2014 18:35

Must be time to get my eyes tested - I can´t see any flabby arms Grin.
Love the dress.
Want to swap legs? yours look long and lean in the photo!
Dress looks like it will look lovely in motion too - swingy and confident.
Have a great time out ! Smile.

Spidergirl8 · 18/12/2014 19:46

Thanks everyone- you've made me feel so much better. I love MN for all the lovely people on it- makes up for the odd troll!

It's relatively informal, dinner and then a live band. I just know that some others are going to be making an effort so didn't want to be the odd one out.

Hippychickster · 18/12/2014 20:22

I think you look lovely! You have great legs and I really like those boots with it. I think a pretty dress with boots looks very rock chick. And like others have said, I can't see a problem with your arms!

Enjoy your night out! Hopefully it will be the first of many!

Cocolepew · 18/12/2014 20:25

You look great! No sign of any flabby arms Hmm

passmethevino · 18/12/2014 22:24

You look lovely! The dress is gorgeous, such a nice colour. Have a great night Smile

burnishedsilver · 18/12/2014 22:51

Nice dress. Is it monsoon?
The boots are fine but if you could make it to primark or new look and pick up a pair of heels it would work better.
You'd never know from looking at you that you feel rubbish and flabby armed. I think that what you see when you look in the mirror isn't what other people see when they look at you.
Enjoy your night out.

januaryjan · 18/12/2014 23:00

You have a great pair of pins missus.

The boots are killing the look though. A daintier shoe would perhaps suit the dress better and a dressy shawl thrown casually over your arms would keep out the chill but still look fabulous.

The dress really suits you. Colour is gorgeous.

Amethyst24 · 18/12/2014 23:07

You have lovely legs and I like the dress. I think the boots are okay, actually - you have such slender ankles that they don't look as clumpy as they would on someone less blessed in the pins department.

Agree a little jacket or cardigan even might help with the opaque tights/bare arms thing, but there is nothing wrong with your arms so don't feel you have to cover them.

One thing I would change if you can is try getting your hair off your shoulders, in a bun or half-up do or just a messy chignon. I think it's cluttering up the detail at the neckline of your dress and not doing your boobs any favours. Also can look a bit more dramatic for a night out.

Finally, I'm sorry to ask this, but have you been bra interventioned? Your bra doesn't look like the most fantastic fit.
