Do they make you look younger?I am thinking of having one and haven't had one in years but am hoping it will cover the lines on my forehead and stop me being tempted by botox

i find that chin length works for me

noddyholder · 09/10/2006 16:11

that could work for me too

I was wondering this too. I've got an appt. for a haircut tomorrow with a view to having something different done , although I have no idea what! I've not had a fringe for years but might get one done.

Will watch this thread with interest

noddyholder · 09/10/2006 16:18

My hair is very long and I nearly always wear it up in a bun thingy so think a fringe might make me do more with it

Lact8 · 09/10/2006 16:21

I love mine! Took some getting used to though as it looks so different than before

Go for it!

Lact8 · 09/10/2006 16:23

Mines quite long too and I can't eb arsed doing it every day but don't like the scraped back look either(made me feel like I should be wearing a tracky and big gold earrings )

I've found mine looks more 'done' now when its tied back

cupsnakes · 09/10/2006 16:23

I've got an appointment on Friday and might get a fringe too.
It's an autumn thing.

BettyBatShapedSpaghetti · 09/10/2006 16:24

noddy -mines similar in that its long and I wear it up a lot as it gets in the way.

I need to find a good site for pictures of hair styles and plough through it so I can take a few pics with me to see what they think.

Are you just thinking of a fringe or a shorter style as well?

noddyholder · 09/10/2006 16:39

I am thinking of long and layered with a fringe so that I can wear it straight or a bit messy iykwim I have had plain long hair for too long My dp loves it though but as he is bald and I have no say in his I don't think he can comment!

Have a look n This site for ideas, there's 100's! Scroll down abit and there's a 'search for a style' section.

Furball · 09/10/2006 16:47

betty - what about something like this?

Furball · 09/10/2006 16:50

Betty - or this? - but I think your hair would look better than that as it's quite thick isn't it?

I have had one cut in and I love it (look younger instantly). Apparently they are very in due to the hairstyle of Anne Hathaway in The devil wears prada here

BettyBatShapedSpaghetti · 09/10/2006 17:07

Noddy -it does sound as we're in the same predicament and are going to end up with similar styles

Thanks for the links furball -I'm going to have a look now until I find something and print it off.

I don't want to wander into the hairdressers and try and explain what I do/don't want when I really haven't a clue -thats what I usually do which is why I've had virtually the same hairstyle for years

Lact8 · 09/10/2006 17:07

Wow incy, that is my hair!

But had mine done ages before that Hathaway woman

incy · 09/10/2006 17:10

Lact8 you are a style leader - make sure everyone knows it was your look first when all copy your hairstyle in the coming months

Lact8 · 09/10/2006 17:12

Too bl**dy right I will be. These film stars'll steal the credit from anyone, no morals if you ask me!

noddyholder · 09/10/2006 18:46

incy that is exactly what I want.I have a small forehead do you think that matters?

OP posts:
Lact8 · 09/10/2006 18:50

And now noddyholder'll be copying too!

I've got more of a threehead so having quite a full fringe has made it look like an average forehead under there

incy · 09/10/2006 19:10

noddyholder - I think it would look good - I have a big forehead but if you ask a hairdresser they can normally tweak any style to suit the individual face shape. Does make me look younger so I would recommend.

BettyBatShapedSpaghetti · 10/10/2006 12:13

I did it! Got a fringe cut (and quite a bit off the length too). I keep catching a glimpse of myself in mirrors and windows and wondering who it is, and can see the fringe a bit which is very odd.

Definately recommend it though!

Furball · 10/10/2006 12:57

well done!

probably will have grown quite abit by the next time I see you.

BettyBatShapedSpaghetti · 10/10/2006 13:39

furball -did you used to be a hairdresser as I'm sure I've seen you on a few hair style threads and you know where to look on the web for the right sites? Not to mention your perfectly coiffured hair!

Furball · 10/10/2006 17:16

No I'm not a hairdresser. Thank you for saying mine always loooks 'perfectly coiffured' thats not how I would word it!

I like hair and different styles/colours etc and yes I always seem to pop up on hair threads
