A pretty ring, but not an expensive one. In fact, a very budget one.

I want a ring. It's not an engagement ring or anything like that Smile, just a ring. But I would like it to be something for the long term, not something I will be bored of in a couple of years.

The budget is about £150, so I know we are not talking about a timeless, valuable piece of jewellery, but that isn't important to me.

But I have quite a specific brief. I have tiny hands, so it needs to be a very fine ring. It needs to be small, because anything 'costumey' or 'cocktail ring' just looks crazy on my wee hands. And it needs to be almost flat, because I can't bear the feel of wearing a ring that isn't flat (even my engagement ring is flat). And it has to be gold in colour, because silver makes my hands look awful.

Does my dream ring exist?

What type of stone would you like? Colours? Etsy always a great place to start.

treaclesoda · 23/11/2014 16:05

ooh, that's a good question actually. I'm not entirely sure actually - I have this idea that if I see the right thing then I will know it when I see it! That's not very helpful is it? Grin

What about an antique or vintage ring? You can get some for good prices, and you can get some very small ones.

treaclesoda · 23/11/2014 16:15

I'm having a look at Etsy and there is some beautiful stuff available, right up my street. I think the sticking point mind end up being the colour - I can see loads in the style I like, but they are silver.

Twinkle how would you go about searching for an antique ring? I'm clueless!

Alex Monroe does a gorgeous one that is very simple and gold that says 'love', about that budget, they may do others?

mowglik · 23/11/2014 16:20

Have a look at rubover rings set with a semi precious stone..very understated look but I like it!

It's probably lovely but it conjures up images of a ring from Argos with the word mum or nan on it!!

treaclesoda · 23/11/2014 16:31

I've seen that Alex Monroe one and unfortunately it's not really my style, but I do appreciate the suggestion.

Lots of the sellers on Etsy will work with you to customise something, if it's in silver, I'm sure there would be no problem to make it in gold. Put in the word 'dainty' ring and it should bring something up. Or maybe even tiny ring?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/11/2014 16:41

Look at church house jewellery website, lovely stuff by Jeremy Heber.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 23/11/2014 16:43

Or comissioning something. If you get something simple in gold or even in silver then you could get something. Really lovely for that price. I recently had a ring made by a silversmith called Helen Quenet. It's just what I asked for and was an absolute bargain.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 23/11/2014 16:45

Or folksy, it's the british version of etsy

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 23/11/2014 16:48

Sorry just reread and missed your bit about gold.
Still doable though

MirandaWest · 23/11/2014 16:49

I was going to mention Jeremy Heber as well - he made me a lovely engagement ring :)

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 23/11/2014 16:55

Or how about a wooden ring www.wooden-rings.com/wooden-rings-inlays-gemstones.php

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/11/2014 16:57

Miranda - I have one three of his rings, love it them

CointreauVersial · 23/11/2014 16:59

Here's your dream ring (well, it's certainly mine at the moment):

in gs Monica Vinader Riva Hoop Ring

treaclesoda · 23/11/2014 17:03

So many great suggestions here, thanks everyone.

Jeremy Heber looks amazing, although a bit over budget. Gorgeous stuff though.

Those wooden rings are fantastic, I've never heard of anything like that before, and they look so comfortable to wear.

I follow simply wood rings on facebook but they're american and dearer. The site is the first one I found with a quick google. I'm sure there are others.

TapDancingPimp · 23/11/2014 17:10

Ooh Cointreau that's a beauty.

I can but dream Grin

treaclesoda · 23/11/2014 17:15

Cointreau do you work in sales? You've done that classic sales thing of taking the budget and then suggesting something that is just slightly over it in order to tempt me Grin

CointreauVersial · 23/11/2014 18:20

Why, Treacle, I do!

Actually, there's a yellow gold version which is £10 cheaper, but isn't the rose gold sooo much more lovely? Grin

ShebaQueen · 23/11/2014 18:33

I love Monica Vinander and I already have that ring on my Christmas list!

FreeButtonBee · 23/11/2014 18:43

I have a MV ring and love it. It feels solid but the ring piece is nicely delicate.
