Anyone had their teeth improved? What did you get done? Were you pleased?

I love looking at celeb's teeth

My teeth are ok, fairly straight but I have lots of fillings

What would I need done? I hate smiling as you can see black fillings. I've had a few white fillings but they look terrible?

I sound attractive, don't I?

Have you done anything to improve your teeth?

I never even notice people's fillings! Pretty sure I have some but would have to check in a mirror!

I got braces at the age of 39. Had to have the brackets and wires rather than Invisalign (the clear moulds that cover your teeth and aren't so noticeable). Had always been self-conscious about my wonky teeth; a year in braces and I was much happier. They're still not celeb-teeth perfect, but good enough for me. And I got teeth whitening thrown in for free.

It was a lot of money for me, but I don't regret a penny. I much more now.

I finished a 9 month course of Inman Aligners and clear Aligners last year. My two front teeth were being pushed outwards by the next two teeth back and I looked a bit like Mater from Cars. Cost nearly £3000 to do but now I smile and talk normally without hiding my mouth behind my hands so it was worth all the money and discomfort.

Ps if you just want your black fillings replaced with white surely that wouldn't be too difficult? Ask for an appt with the dentist I reckon and ask them.

The enamel was really eroded / pitted previously and I wasn't a suitable candidate for whitening
Best thing Ive ever done, now I can actually smile for photos with my mouth open !

Has anyone had whitening? Is it dangerous? Is it painful? I guess it is.... expensive?

I'd also like to know about people's experiences with whitening. I want to get it done but it's expensive and I'm worried that my teeth will be sensitive afterwards.

I'm not sure how much my whitening would normally have cost as it was free as part of my orthodontic treatment. But between £100-£200 I think. You have to lie in the chair with your mouth held open and the light zapping at your teeth, for three stints of 15 minutes. By halfway through the second one I was in so much pain! Kept getting twinges the rest of the day; it really hurt, but after that I was fine.

Since then I've used Crest Whitestrips.

I had veneers and crowns at 27. Best £5k I've ever spent. Seriously. I wish I'd done it sooner.

I had mine whitened - gel in a gum shield at night for a week and then an hour I think being zapped at in the chair. Not painful at all. Things might've moved on though - that was 6 years ago.

I've had all sorts of things done!

• metallic braces as a teenager
• teeth whitening twice (ten and five years ago; should do it again soonish)
• changed my (just one) black filling for a white one
• had a tiny dent on one of my bottom front teeth filled, and had one of my top front teeth's edge squared
• had Invisalign

The funny thing is that even with all this work my teeth don't look "Hollywood". They just look as if I had nice teeth naturally, which is exactly what I was going for.

I had veneers to replace some really old ones which had moved and looked horrid. It cost ££££ but it was worth every penny.

I've got veneers on the top 6 teeth at the front. Worth absolutely every penny.

I will be making sure my DC get proper dental and orthodontic treatment when young instead of getting to adulthood with wonky teeth.

If you can afford it, get it done. I'm thinking of getting the bottom ones done too.

I have around 8 or 9 veneers and crowns all along my front top teeth.. My teeth were slightly crooked, went in a bit and one was dead and grey after root canal issues.. I probably spent around £3,500 but money well spent! They're lovely, straight, natural white

I had my two top teeth capped (think that's the right word) basically built up so they weren't shorter than my two eye teeth. I have weak enamel and a funny bite, so they'do just eroded away over time. I am very happy with them and they cost about £60 because my dentist felt it was a dental procedure rather than a cosmetic one.

I got bottom braces (railway tracks but with clear brackets) 18 months ago. Just had them off last month. It was a hassle, but very pleased with the results. My bottom teeth were very crooked and now lovely and straight.

I'm treating myself to whitening for Christmas. Had them whitened 3 years ago and it was a great confidence boost.

I'm going to pick up my whitening trays from the dentist later. It is costing about £500.

Will update as to how it goes - need to use them for 2 weeks and then have a follow up appointment for some in surgery whitening.

And then my dentist reckons if I use the trays once every three months for one night it will keep them nice and white.

My teeth - not a great quality photo as had to zoom in from existing photo but you get the gist... Very happy with them.. They've given me so much confidence..

But I do know it's better to try braces rather than veneers/crowns if you can as this preserves your own teeth...

I had braces at 26, I wanted Invisalign but they weren't suitable for my teeth. I had to have 4 teeth taken out too!

I'm happy with my teeth now but I think having braces has slimmed my face down a little too much. Not so much an issue atm lol but when I am skinny my face can look a little gaunt

How did people find living with braces? I'm thinking of getting this done for my overcrowded bottom teeth (and cross that it wasn't done when I was a child).

I had Inman aligners too when I was 32. I had them on for about six months - just on the top. I now have a metal wire behind them keeping them in place

It was worth every penny and although I still haven't shaken feeling a bit self-conscious about my teeth - I was bullied about them - I often get compliments now.

It's never too late!

P.s it wasn't great fun having them, I'll be honest! And they were noticeable as they stick out some my lips stuck out a it, even though they are supposed to be quite 'invisible'. Also, my teeth ached like crazy every time that I had it adjusted.
Still worth every penny and it cost a lot of them!

I had mine whitened about 12 yrs ago using the gel in the little gum shields from the dentist.

I couldn't do it every night as the sensitivity was extremely unpleasant. Just breathing in was awful. It did wear off eventually and they looked v nice afterwards.

I'm pretty sure things have moved on - my current dentist offers a one time whitening for $99 (about sixty quid). It's designed for sensitive teeth. I'm going to see about getting it done.
