Anyone had their teeth improved? What did you get done? Were you pleased?

I love looking at celeb's teeth Grin

My teeth are ok, fairly straight but I have lots of fillings Blush

What would I need done? I hate smiling as you can see black fillings. I've had a few white fillings but they look terrible?

I sound attractive, don't I?

Have you done anything to improve your teeth?

I had a retainer as a child, which my sister took me for because my parents are both terrified of the dentist so never go. One of my front teeth protrudes slightly and I hate it but I don't know if I'd be suitable for invisalign, and if I were I'd want it and probably couldn't afford it, so it's not something I've checked out.

I've just looked at those clips on veneers ^ I've seen some good ones but, ye gods, they're weren't those ones Grin

Thanks - going to ask for an estimate at my next appointment I think Smile

I got braces when I was 38 - brilliant.

I've whitened mine this year. I bought the tray/gel from the dentist, cost £260. Two week course and enough for a top up every couple of months. Only problem is I really can't cope with 2 weeks of it! I have to do one night on, one off, as it makes my teeth hurt so much.

I need a crown on my front tooth, but I'm worried about it. Has anyone got one? Just worried in case it breaks or falls out.

I had Invisalign and zoom laser whitening. Best thing I've ever done and money well spent. I used to hate my smile and never felt comfortable being photographed, it really got me down. I spend a fair amount of time in Los Angeles on business and I feel so much more confident going to meetings etc with my lovely teeth. If you can do it, do it.

I just had two crowns replaced on my front teeth yesterday. I also have veneers on the next two. I cant stop smiling today, they good so nice. I had the previous ones done 15 years ago whilst pg so I wasn't charged for them, but they only had a limited choice of colours. For 15 years I have walked around with two front bugs bunny teeth that were a totally different colour to the rest of my teeth. I have never liked my photo being taken as all you could see were two horrible front teeth which didn't suit my face. Now today, I am doing big smiles that show my teeth, because I can! Grin I cannot tell you how much this has changed me in one day!

I am paying it off to the dentist, but I don't care, its money well spent...

I got braces at 43! Invisalign.
Took 16 months for perfectly straight teeth.

Also had them whitened.

mycatlikestwiglets · 05/11/2014 10:43

Had whitening recently using trays and gel bought from my dentist. Cost £199 and I did it overnight for 9 nights in a row. The extreme sensitivity was horrific but I didn't want to draw it out any longer so I put up with it. Teeth are lovely and bright now (although weren't terrible previously).

Am considering Invisalign or six month smiles for some minor overcrowding of my bottom front teeth but did the whitening in the meantime.

I find celebrity teeth fascinating because so few have their own teeth! There are veneers everywhere in celebville.

OOAOML · 05/11/2014 11:52

I have front top crowns BreakOut they have lasted really well. I think they are about 20 years old now and I was told they would last 10-15 years. Starting to talk about replacements with my dentist but they're holding up well.

I want to get my lower teeth straightened and whitened before I get the upper crowns replaced. Will have to save though!

Ladyfoxglove · 05/11/2014 12:48

Oh god, the money and time I've spent on my teeth over the years (in my 40s now). Must be over £15,000 by now. I've had dental implants, crowns, veneers, bleaching (trays and in chair), white fillings, amalgam fillings, porcelain inlays, gum trimming, root canal work, gum grafts. You name it, I've had it. My teeth are lovely though and I often get complimented on them (if only they knew they're not mine!)

I would say though that if you're thinking of having any dental work done, pick a good, renowned, award winning dentist and be prepared to keep up the ongoing care and work because once you start, you have to maintain no matter what you do. fillings need replacing, gums recceed, crowns may cause your other teeth to move, your bite may need constant adjustment depending on various factors. Bleached teeth will need re-doing every five years (bear this in mind if you get crowns/veneers in a lighter colour - after five years of no bleaching, your own teeth won't match if you don't). It's a very expensive (and sometimes painful) game.

Good luck.

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/11/2014 13:06

So have my trays and bleaching stuff - it is the 'enlighten' brand - not sure what others have used.

They're not overnight just one hour a day. I've also been using colgate pro- relief toothpaste for the past few weeks to help with sensitivity.

So have done 2 sessions so far and think I can already seen an improvement and no real sensitivity issues as yet.

Mine was over £500 though - envious of people who got trays for a lot less.

MyVegasBaby · 05/11/2014 14:42

Does anyone know what happens when veneers need replacing, do you wait until one falls off and then have them done (and what do you do with veneer less tooth in the meantime??) or can they be taken off and new ones put on? I've had some done for 10 years and realise at some point something will need to be done and am dreading it (hate dental work and associated pain!). Confused

I8toys · 05/11/2014 18:30

Would love to improve my teeth - very self conscious - its just the cost. Its seems selfish of me to spend so much on myself. How did everyone afford it?
