Quickest way to get rid of spots?

Dh has an interview this week, but has developed a cluster of nasty spots, big, red and yuck! What is the quickest way to get rid of them, i.e. in a day or 2?

He's been putting Oxy gel (spot gel for men) on them since Saturday, last night I advised toothpaste, which he did. They do look slightly better this morning. Anything else he can do?

I find if you work a bar of soap into a lather and put it on the spot and then leave it there to dry - don't wipe it off. That really dry's spots up quickly

A beauty therapist once told me but I havent tried was liquid anadin capsules, burst the capsule and put the liquid right onto the spot.

what type of spots are they? Cystic and under skin or have they a head?

I would avoid oxy gel etc either way to be honest. Most 'big name' spot treatments are designed for teenage rather than adult skin and can sometimes make adult skin worse.

a good clean (not too rough) with a clean warm flannel morning and night. Clean bedding and pillowcase tonight and if you really need to put something on them try something like this

If he has long hair keeping it off his face as much as possible will also help.

oh and under no circumstances is he allowed to touch them. At all. Ever.

If they have a head then pricking the head and draining does help take some of the 'angry' away. But if they are just red and cross with no pus then I agree about drying them out. I'm sure I red about someone putting anti inflammatory cream on them.

Witch hazel is good for reducing redness and swelling. The Boots things Westmorland suggested are good.

Origins do a spot gel I find really helps, it's a bit pricey at£14 though. It seems to massively reduce the time I'm stuck with spots for iykwim?

I alsways find tea tree oil to work, put on a lot of it several times a day

Another vote for tea tree oil here, and he could always dab some concealer on :)

lush do a foot scrub thing , it contains clay and is a pale beige colour. i dab that on over night. it also works as an exfolliant.

As an adult I still suffer the odd break out. I've used lots of different treatments but have found the Clinique blemish gel to be the most effective at calming spots down. Literally reducing my spots overnight or within a couple of days.
Again, it's pricey but last ages as you only need a small amount.

Sudocrem!! I put it on at night and the zinc in it reduces redness and spots so well

This is great, put it on as you feel the zit coming up and it'll go away. If they're already there it flattens them within hours.

I use sudocrem or calamine overnight. Soothes the area and reduces the swelling for me.

I had a really bad outbreak a couple of years ago and tried all sorts of lotions and potions to no avail. Went to get my hair done to make myself feel better and got the best advice from the hairdresser. She said that while it's tempting to try lots of things out, the absolutely best thing you can do is to leave it alone and touch it as little as possible. All I did after that was gently wash my face twice a day then not touch it nor put on any creams. Started to clear up within a couple of days

Magnesium sulphate paste will dry them out quickest. Smear a thick layer over and then put cotton wool on top secured with micropore tape (a plaster will do if it's just the one spot) and leave overnight. Obviously that's not really suitable for being in public, so during the day ibuprofen gel will take down the redness and inflammation.

Then use Quinoderm to get rid completely. However this will cause the skin to peel so best not to use until the day before the interview and then use a cleanser with salycilic acid (same stuff as aspirin) to help get rid of the peeliness more quickly and keep future spots at bay.

Vosene medicated shampoo works for me on spots; it has salicyclic acid in it. Just dab some on neat out the bottle and leave for a while; it'll dry them out.
