BTM, good news: I luff my little learner and he luffed my Minecraft-based HFW activity. Grin And sundry others. I did not cry, unlike various fellow students, at any other point during the day. I am taking these both as good omens. Feel free to remind me of this when I am whining in a couple of weeks' time. Grin

Seriously, I am a bit very Shock Shock at the weediness of some other people. I have long thought I was weedy. Perhaps not. My CBT counsellor thought not. Maybe he has a point.

Beachy, I'm sorry to hear about your DFIL. I hope you are all doing OK.

Stropperella · 11/11/2014 22:35

Curly girl didn't work for me or dd, but we have extremely fine, curly hair. I steer clear of anything with silicone stuff in it. Surprisingly, Holland & Barrett do a good range of shampoos and conditioners which are really good. (Not sure how much that may help Hatty, though).
Gah, am just being shouted at by dd because her skin is 'terrible' and me suggesting going to the doctor as a solution is apparently proof that I am 'grumpy'. Now I suddenly feel grumpy. Funny, that.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/11/2014 22:45

Stropps, you are not remotely weedy! Glad it is going well. Smile

DD2 found that Curly Girl worked well up to a point, but then she felt like it needed a damn good clean with shampoo. Her hairdresser here told her only to shampoo the roots, and not to put any more on the length, than ran through it when you rinse it off. This seems to work well for her.

lalsy · 11/11/2014 23:00

Aww, that's fab Stropps, you non-weedy bin-breaker you Smile.

Stropperella · 11/11/2014 23:03

Grin Grin MrsS and Lalsy. Thank you. Grin

Blackduck · 12/11/2014 06:31

Stropps you mat be small, but weedy? No way :)
Here ds didn't go to bowls (yes seriously) because of a run in with another boy - pointed out that by not going he was letting the other boy win. Tough growing up really particularly when you realise some adults don't behave that well either.

hattymattie · 12/11/2014 06:34

Stropps - well done on your course and on the Minecraft activity.

Mrs S - I'm off to buy some Schwartzkoff Gliss and associated products. Thank you.

We tried curly girl but not too successful - I think it may have required too much concentration.Wink

bigTillyMint · 12/11/2014 07:12

Stropps, that's brilliant. I have never thought of you as weedy. How could someone who does circuits and jumps on bins be described as weedy?!
Great that you've found something that he likes - always useful when you need to motivate them in some way!

BD, bowlsGrin Is it Crown Green? My DGodF plays CG. There seems to be a lot of drinking involved, so be warned!

DD gave DS a right old talking to last night and we have unearthed a pile of work that he hasn't done, so he will have his nose to the grindstone big time at home!

NUFC69 · 12/11/2014 07:29

Stropps, well done on your course. Never having met you I can't definitely say that you aren't weedy, but the impression I get is that you're a feisty woman. Never having jumped on a bin I am more likely to be the weedy one! Joking aside, I am really impressed with your commitment to changing your career path - not an easy thing to do.

Knee is playing up again today after the trip to Newcastle yesterday - not helped by coping with DGS's epic tantrum. He is usually good so I had almost forgotten about DC's habit of throwing themselves to the ground and going all floppy. A visit to a friend calls today plus Costco and making the Christmas cake.

Auriga · 12/11/2014 07:30

Beachy, sorry to hear about your DFIL. Condolences to you & your family.

Stropps, well done. Glad you are finding out you're not weedy. Bit of reality testing Smile

NUFC69 · 12/11/2014 07:30

BTM, good luck with motivating DS - I so remember that problem.

bigTillyMint · 12/11/2014 07:36

NU, sympathies on knee - I did something to mine last night at circuits and it hasn't miraculously got better overnightAngry

And I am planning to remember to make my Christmas cake on Sunday.

Rudy, what is plopping?!

Rosebag · 12/11/2014 08:36

MrsS that is good news re troublesome team member! I was thinking mid morning rather than lunchtime…would that work for you? Care to suggest a venue/coffee house? Anyone else?
Stropps good omen indeed…Not weedy…crepey maybe but we are not weedy!!
NU Wish your knee better. I am not sure I'd want to be coping with toddler tantrums, especially when we still have teen ones in this house!
Tilly strength to you and DH. DD came home yesterday with the spectacular result of 33% in an RE end of unit test that she didn't tell me about, hence no revision was done. I went ABSOLUTELY MAD. Not because of the poor grade but because she ignored the fact that there was an impending test, allegedly because she was "busy" Confused Angry
What a horrible grey day. DS2 has just sent me a list of links to TopMan sweaters he wants. Hmm

Blackduck · 12/11/2014 08:38

BTM re bowls - no idea! He loves it Hmm - a friend described it as large marbles :)

Here I have someone telling everyone (including me) that something can be done, it's not difficult blah blah. Don't you just love it when someone who is not going to have to deliver tells everyone else its easy?

I very nearly quit yesterday - I did tell my boss I couldn't work like this.

hattymattie · 12/11/2014 09:36

Yeah Rudy what is plopping? Having trouble with charging up my tablet - the lead doesn't seem to work.

bigTillyMint · 12/11/2014 10:25

Oh BD, sounds like you have come to the end of your rope with it all. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?

lalsy · 12/11/2014 13:38

BD, my dh used to say "it won't take us long will it?" - made me see red. And clients do it too, if you are in any sort of editorial, sending you unreferenced load of badly written cliched old codswallop and saying it won't take long (MI and Addle, am sure you recognise?). Sympathies.

BD, you have my every sympathy.

Big Boss summoned me into his office rather furtively this morning and said "Quick! What can we give her that is self contained, time consuming and will keep her out of everyone's way?" Grin So she is now doing the budget and funding and the weekly report. We had a full team meeting, where the shift in roles was explained and she was utterly vitriolic about all of us "I told Mrs S to do this, and she failed to deliver, I told Mr G to do that and he fucked it up big time, Miss J can't be trusted to do anything and I have to do it all over again by myself." It was like watching the death throes and we all sat there and watched it, impassively. It is very clearly a huge demotion to get her out of the way, as she was supposed to be the team leader before. Self appointed team leader, that is.

I am utterly pooped. But a quick S & B item for you, crepeys. I was in M & S at Oxford Circus earlier, and they have loads of bargains. Lots of Pruner shit, but nestling coyly among polyester ruffles and sequins, were cashmere jumpers - pale lilac v neck, plus some other colours and styles (nothing startling, mostly pastels) for £33. They also had some black, long cashmere cardigan/jacket things that were quite nice, for £88. It is in Forgotten Corner, near the shoes.
