Here we are again.....

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 30/10/2014 16:31

Have cheered up a bit after a walk in Brockwell Park with DH (so lovely in the autumn sun) and a coffee at the café - lovely memories of so many happy days spent there with the DC.

Am planning to go into town to browse Selfridges tomorrow - anyone around fancy meeting up for a drink - coffee or something stronger?

motherinferior · 30/10/2014 16:37

would love to but can't!

NUFC69 · 30/10/2014 16:53

MI, I quite understand, don't worry about it from my pov (easier said than done, I know). Have you any support at home?

BTM, sounds lovely - it's murky here and the washing was hanging limply when I got home.

DH is up his step ladder again and I am nursing my finger which I somehow ripped on tin foil and which has bled profusely. I am a whimp at the sight of my own blood which necessitates putting my head between my knees. So stupid. Blush

lalsy · 30/10/2014 17:14

BTM, Brockewell is stunning at the moment isn't it? I am in town tomorrow too, but volunteering (madness in half term!).

NU, I managed to cut my finger on a box of tissues recently....those serrated edges are dangerous. Crem, you stay away from tissues and foil you hear?

bigTillyMint · 30/10/2014 17:22

It is stunning - my favourite London park, particularly in Autumn.

That's a shame MI and Lalsy.

hattymattie · 30/10/2014 17:51

It's so dark this evening that I've shut all the shutters and feel like going to bed and it it's only 6.50. I really hate winter!

bigTillyMint · 30/10/2014 17:57

Hatty, that is something I love about France - shutters! I wish we had them hereSmile

herbaceous · 30/10/2014 17:57

Inspired by a continual pop-up thread, I was wondering if we should, or indeed could be arsed to, do a crepeys Secret Santa/Satan thing! One organised person could collate addresses of anyone who wanted to take part, and give one out to each crepey. We could then send each other an (in)appropriate item, to a predetermined value. Such as £5. Or with the stipulation that it has to be from a charity shop. Or Sainsbury's. Or similar.

bigTillyMint · 30/10/2014 18:09

Only if it means we exchange them at a Christmas Meet-UpWink

QueenQueenie · 30/10/2014 18:10

I liiiike it Herbs.
I think between us we might manage to organise ourselves...
Or we could hand over our secret santa pressies at a pre-Christmas drink?!

bigTillyMint · 30/10/2014 18:11

Great Minds, QQ!

QueenQueenie · 30/10/2014 18:11

Great minds BTM... Wink
Would love to swan around Selfridges with you but sadly no can do tomorrow.

hattymattie · 30/10/2014 18:17

Ha - it would have to be Monoprix here Herbs - the French aren't big on charity shops (despite what you may have been led to believe on The Missing).

I found myself alone with DS today so I took him up to Montmartre as he said he'd never seen the Sacred Coeur (he had but had forgotten). Still it was a beautiful sunny day but he would not let me rummage in all the material shops up there and thinks the area is too dodgy. I think he is very "old" for a 12 year old and has no spirit of adventure. He just wanted to get back to his computer.

Ooh, The Missing. Not sure it was a good idea to watch it as the parents of a five-year-old boy only child. With brown hair. We both had to go up and make sure DS was still sleeping soundly in his bed.

Blackduck · 30/10/2014 19:27

I'm up for drinks and secret Santa.....

MontserratCaballe · 30/10/2014 19:32

I LOVE Secret Santa. Please count me in. I still do it with my ante natal girls (the babies are nearly 6 now though!) and with my girlfriends at school. I would love to meet up, but if we exchange at a meet up, what about our far flung crepesters who can't join us? Can we have Christmas / festive drinks and a postal SS as well?

hattymattie · 30/10/2014 20:01

I despair - DS is watching Snog, Marry, Avoid.Hmm

Blackduck · 30/10/2014 20:12

Hatty Grin ......

(BTW when are we going to meet?)

MollyAir · 30/10/2014 20:27

I'm up for any Secret Santa-ing. Can't meet tomorrow, btm, sadly, although I'd love to. MI, my dad was taken to his cancer treatment in a hospital car, driven by a cheery volunteer. It was very sociable - the driver went round collecting all the people going in for radio and they had a Good Chat about side effects and the like.

MrsS, I hope you're feeling better after your op. Thanks I remember having a mole removed in Paris when I was but a gal. I think I was awake and aware for it. Poor you. Can you treat yourself somehow?

herbaceous · 30/10/2014 20:30

I too am otherwise engaged tomorrow, BTM, in my case with halloween merriment - carving a pumpkin, then a picnic in the forest complete with treasure hunt and Jolly Games. We may even go trick or treating later, though I don't really approve.

beachyhead · 30/10/2014 20:32

We have fleas too.... Dylan brought them with him Hmm

Wow, my house sounds inviting, wasps and fleas! The flea situation has sent dh"s floor OCD into overdrive and he's frantically hoovering and spraying. We are being herded from room to room....

Rose, i would love to meet up for coffee but I fear you are heading back to town soon. I would love to do Secret Santa and/or meet up nearer Christmas.

bigTillyMint · 30/10/2014 21:00

Ah well, I guess I will be snarfing my free JL cake and coffee on my onesSad!

So when will the Christmas meet-up be?

MollyAir · 30/10/2014 21:03

Dd has gone off to a Halloween party in Guildford, wearing hardly anything. Mothers of dds know what I mean. But, great joy, PFB is coming home tomorrow night for the weekend. So we'll be grilling him about his experiences in the first term. Hattymatty, he's at one of the unis you may be interested in - begins with a w. If you want any info, or indeed a lovely friendly guide when visiting (in the shape of my ds), just let me know.

Fleas, I hate 'em. Posts upthread have made me realise that our ddog looks just like Hairy McClary.

bigTillyMint · 30/10/2014 21:07

Molly, did no one tell her Halloween's tomorrowHalloween Grin
How lovely your DS is coming back for a visit!
