Am thinking of chopping my long layers into something a bit cooler... Hope would you describe this hairstyle and what do you think of it.... Should add I'm a similar build to the model but without the glorious bone structure..(and I've probably got 20 years on her Grin)

I would just take the photo in, to be honest. Describing a look can go wrong in so many ways.

hettie · 09/10/2014 17:38

Oh yes was planning to do that too... but wondered if this is a 'type' of haircut (ifykwim) so that I can look up a few more examples....

Maybe a choppy mullet Grin

hettie · 09/10/2014 17:50

hugoagogo · 09/10/2014 17:51

I'm not sure that's a haircut that would suit many people...

HolgerDanske · 09/10/2014 17:54

Was noisy kidding about the mullet thing, I hasten to add!

I'd love an edgy haircut but i wouldn't have the patience to style it properly so haven't taken the plunge yet.

HolgerDanske · 09/10/2014 17:54

Uh only kidding*. No idea why autocorrect did that...

hettie · 09/10/2014 18:09

Maybe I think I'm edgy in my head... but would end up looking daft (ponders)... I've found a smilar/slightly longer blond version...
How do figure out if it will suit me?

That second photo looks like rats tails to me. the first one is a mullet.

hettie · 09/10/2014 18:20

Rats tails Grin.... bloody hell

OP posts:
Milmingebag · 09/10/2014 19:37

I would describe that look as the awkward growing out a pixie stage aka raggity mullet

hettie · 09/10/2014 19:38

You all love it then!

ouryve · 09/10/2014 19:40

That could so easily be a wonderful shaggy cut.

Or a mullet :o

TheDoctorSandshoesAndGrandad · 09/10/2014 19:41

Try googling 'choppy bob'

mooth · 09/10/2014 20:36

These haircuts are not going to look anything like this on a person who isn't a model. They won't even look quite like like this on the model herself when she's down at her local on a Thursday night or standing at a bus stop in the rain.

ouryve · 09/10/2014 21:41

I knew it reminded me of something

hettie · 09/10/2014 21:43

Mooth... I think you may be the voice of reason Grin but I want to look edgy stamps foot

OP posts:
hettie · 09/10/2014 21:44

Ohh dear god no... I will end up looking like bloody jamie oliver won't I (sobs into wine glass and forgets ever being edgy and settles for boring mum bob)

OP posts:
mooth · 09/10/2014 21:51

Boring Mum bobs can be ironic!!

If you want to look edgy just stick some Biker boots on, like the rest of us!

beavington · 09/10/2014 22:30

Yes its so hard relying on photos of celebrities / models for haircut inspiration. Part of the reason i hate going to the hairdressers is i dont notice whether my hair looks any better, just that ive still got a shite face Grin it is most disappointing!

JoyceDivision · 09/10/2014 22:32

I have found my haircut courtesy of sheila hancock in this months sainsburys magazine!

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 09/10/2014 22:39

I immediately thought "mullet".

Then thought "Oh no, I can't say 'mullet', must think of something more tactful"

Then saw that other MNers had been there before me.

So I now feel emboldened to agree that it is a mullet. And now I can't unsee Jamie Oliver either.

What type of hair do you have? What's your face shape?

Milmingebag · 09/10/2014 22:40

I think much shorter hair might get you the look you are after. Google pictures from wip-hairport pixies. Now they do edgy.
