Am thinking of chopping my long layers into something a bit cooler... Hope would you describe this hairstyle and what do you think of it.... Should add I'm a similar build to the model but without the glorious bone structure..(and I've probably got 20 years on her Grin)

Loved some of the wip-hairport styles...
For one day only I am putting a pic on my profile..... As I'm not too sure what my face shape is Confused... It's wavy and medium thickness....

Have a look at Pinterest.

LOADS of ideas there. search for something like short hair, or shoulder length hair, or layered haircut.

It'll come up with loads I predict.

I think this would suit you.

shortaris1 · 10/10/2014 11:07

OOh yes. What seasalt said. When I saw the first pic I thought:

Goodness, Pat Sharp has gone out without his brolly

but waited for someone else to use the M word Grin Happy haircut!

PrimalLass · 10/10/2014 12:04

It's not great - definitely mullet territory.

The Freja Beha Erichsen hairstyle is like mine when I leave it to dry - I've accidentally got it right then Grin

hettie · 10/10/2014 12:10

I love seasalts suggestion, thank you Grin

I think a jaw length choppy bob would suit you and also more of a fringe. For edgy could you play around with the colour? Maybe go darker and have some flashes added. Perhaps like the second picture down on this link

I'd love to have the cash to colour.... But sadly don't....(not sure at home streaks are going to help)

your face is lovely, I thought short crop pixie style when I saw your eyes, would really suit you.

squoosh · 10/10/2014 16:25

It's a matted mullet. Also known as a mallet.

squoosh · 10/10/2014 16:26

Not to be confused with a 'Timmy Mallet'. That involves a day glo baseball cap.

hettie · 10/10/2014 18:01

I had a crop/pixie many moons ago... Not sure of that at my age Hmm... Despite you all telling me to steer clear of the mullet/mallet (thank you sqoosh for classification) I am strangely drawn to it. Maybe I should get a mullet wig to try it out?!

Another one who was thinking of polite ways to say 'mullet'!

You've got a lovely face (good placement of features within its perimeter), lovely skin. Is that your day-to-day style in terms of clothes? If so, you could totally pull off a rock-chick look (do you own a leather jacket?!). Think Chrissy Hynde in her younger years (let's see if this link works):

Young Chrissy

CrimeaRiver · 10/10/2014 19:09

BUT, the key is the long fringe and gloss. If you can't/won't do those, it could just end up looking like a rocker's mullet (as opposed to your average Joe mullet).

Chandon · 10/10/2014 20:26

Ask for a choppy mullet

gamescompendium · 10/10/2014 20:46

You've got a long neck from that photo which is very good so you should show it off, agree with pufflemum about a jaw length bob with a strong fringe (I've finally got a fringe again after about 25 years and I've had so many compliments it's great). My hairdresser (who is seriously fab, I just let him do what he wants with my hair since he knows it better than me) says you should always work with your hair, not against it. So show off your curls as well.

hettie · 10/10/2014 21:38

Umme, well I took the selfie in the loo at work Blush, so my work clothes are a bit more conservative. I've got a leather jacket, and mod like parker for winter... It's defo my inner style (lost my way a bit when kids were tiny).. Think I need to take a range of these mid length choppy style pics to my hairdresser and ask him to work with them/my hair..
Crimea.. What do you mean by gloss?

OP posts:
myrtleWilson · 10/10/2014 21:45

I think you look like Juliette Lewis so maybe take some photos of her choppy (longer than bob) styles in - think a full fringe would really suit you and frame your face with choppy lengths...

CrimeaRiver · 10/10/2014 21:51

Gloss = shine. General healthfulness. So basically, you need to eat lots of kale and chia seeds if you want the look Grin

hettie · 10/10/2014 22:05

Mme not chocolate and caffeine then Crimea
.. Juliette lewis... Will google...
