Does anyone who wears glasses know some good stylish brands?

I've not worn my glasses in years, I'm short-sighted, and I think my eyes (and sight!) are suffering especially when doing computer work and driving . I plan to get my eyes tested again and want to get some frames. I've no idea where to start with the frames, as in what would look good, what will last etc! Any advice please?

I always go back to Boots, I can't argue with advantage points and 2for1!! I have two lovely Prada pairs at the moment.

I have some lovely D&G ones. They are looking rather weary now though, I've had them a few years.

I have a pair of Guess and a pair of Vera Wang. Both are lovely and I always get nice comments about them. I got them from Tesco Opticians on a 2 4 1 deal. Was spoilt for choice.

I've worn Prada for 6 years, they are perfect.

Specsavers are amazing for value and choice, and 241. Went to buy one pair, came out with 3 for about 300 quid and I just love chopping and changing them.

I'm wearing a lovely Dior pair at the minute. Got them at Vision Express, and they came with a second pair free, which are a nice Valentino.

I bought mine from my campus opticians using my university staff discount. I got a french designer pair called Anne et Valentine. My last pair where Jai Kudo & bought from an independent retailer.

Specsavers do a good range as do most independent opticians.

I have 2 for 1 from specsavers, one pair is Red or Dead and the other is Replay, I love them both. However rather than recommend brands, at specsavers (and presumably other places) they are trained to give you advice on what will suit you. They spent ages with me suggesting different things and looking at them on, then if I liked a particular colour or style, the guy would shoot off and find something similar, but that suited me 100 times better. He really knew what he was doing.

It was amazing as he was an older bloke and didn't come across as style conscious, then suddenly he was going "hmm no, you need a slightly wider bridge, and a more pinky purple will work better with your skin, I know the very thing!" :o like my own personal gok wan.

So don't worry, go in and get the test, then they will help you choose styles.

I have a Karen Millen pair from Specsavers that often gets compliments. Tortoiseshell arms and matte black at the front - love them! I always choose mine by trying on lots of pairs at the opticians as it really depends on your face shape, colouring, hair style etc. what suits.

My next pair will be from www.baileynelson.co.uk not outrageously expensive and stylish. They were recommended in Red magazine. Or Bobbi Brown has some nice styles. My currents ones are Prada.

I've got Raybans at the mo, which seem to be popular.

If I had more to spend on them I'd go either Tiffany or Prada - they had some lovely ones when I was looking, but sadly out of my price range!

I've also had Ted a Baker ones in the past, and been pleased with them.

I had a fantastic pair of Kliik glasses until DH drove over them . Replaced them with a pair of JK London frames which I like nearly as much.

You must have struck lucky with your SpecSavers then Space. Three times I went in umming and ahing, nobody was any help at all whatsoever. Well a woman picked up various random frames and said 'do you like these', which I was actually fine with asking for myself. I brought my kid in with me and let him decide in the end. He's my young sticky whistle test

I love my oliver peoples frames. I don't do glitter, logos, jazzy arms etc. my OPs are just a really good shape frame.

Bought 2 pairs from Specsavers recently - a Karen Millen pair and a Red or Dead pair (bogof). Really stylish, quality frames and I got lots of help choosing which I needed as found it very hard to get styles that actually suit me Probably depends on branch of SS as like any chain it'll vary in range and helpfulness of the staff!

..oh and go for the lenses that have anti reflective coating to reduce glare if you are using for computer use or driving. Has made a big difference to my eye strain at the end of a day in front of a PC at work!

I have Marc Jacobs ones from Boots , for when I can be parted from my contact lenses !

I wear men's Tom Fords (he doesn't do women's) and they are great - not too big. Din't just look in the women's section. Vision Express have a good range of designers.
