Does anyone who wears glasses know some good stylish brands?

I've not worn my glasses in years, I'm short-sighted, and I think my eyes (and sight!) are suffering especially when doing computer work and driving Blush. I plan to get my eyes tested again and want to get some frames. I've no idea where to start with the frames, as in what would look good, what will last etc! Any advice please?

Thank you.

i have about 5 pairs of reading glasses according to my outfits.
Current ones are really weird like the old NHS ones in clear plastic. people love or loathe

So i would look LESS at brands and cost and more at what looks cool

Look at my weirdy ones

Tom Ford has a women's range - I'm wearing a pair!

Most glasses brands Tom ford, Chanel etc are made by the same company luxxonica or something - one of the biggest monopolies no one knows about.
Personally get your eyes tested somewhere reliable boots etc then take the prescription and shop around.
Personally I want some cubitts next. www.cubitts.co.uk

A recent article said simple online glasses eg low under -5 have very few faultsGrin

yes my brown ones are that style. It suits some days...

Last two pairs have been Chanel, which are lovely. Also have one pair of actual hornrims from some Swiss brand, though sadly they are so unbranded that I can't remember who made them.

My last couple of pairs have been Face a Face

And Oliver Peoples

And definitely agree about shopping around and trying to figure out what suits you, I wear glasses all the time so I figure it's like buying a new nose.

Gucci frames - brilliant !

MyFirstName · 01/10/2014 08:24

From what I understand you will look best in something that is the opposite of your face shape - so:
Square face? You need curves in your frames. Try an avoid anything too boxy or rectangular
Round face? You need angles in your frames. Harry Potter circles will just emphasise the roundness of your face.

So I would not worry so much about the "brand" or name - just get the right frame.

Thank you everyone. Really helpful! I have quite a long face so will be interesting to see what suits me (if anything!).

If you find a good optician they should be able to help you find something that works with your face shape - I was surprised by how just small changes in width/angle/squareness made the difference between "looks great" and hugely unflattering.

Tom Ford. I was sold by the brand (vain) but agree it's the shape the matters really. Shop around independent opticians as well as the chains.
