When I am bored, I read Boden reviews and mark them ALL as unhelpful.

Especially the ones containing the cliche "dress it up dress it down" ( which I recently saw in a review of some pleather trousers - HOW do you dress them down?!)

'I love all things boden but these were too tight in the calves and would not go up any further. I am a 14 in most boden clothes but these are not true to size.'

LADY - you are a 16

Comments about Boden Women Skinny Jeans:
Perfect!

SOMEONE has taken time to write that. "perfect" - for what? Chicken igloos? Sex games? Paintball?

for years my friend designed for them and it makes you a bit more positive
she doesn't now...

Did she say what the three line whip was, design wise? " thou shalt not be sexy'? "there shall be no lycra in Pencil skirts'?

The fit was great but I'm sending it back because I already have a top in this colour. Three stars.

Browtox · 29/09/2014 14:39

SNORT

thanks for that morris. What was the point of that?!

There are some helpful reviews on there - eg, which say whether an item comes up big/small etc in relation to other Boden items, or that a particular colourway looks different from the image on the website, with details of why.

And then there are remarkably unhelpful efforts - often just obsessed with the writer (eg, 'I got lots of compliments'), without explaining at all why the item is a good (or bad) buy. Particularly annoyin are those where the writers wax lyrical about what a lovely colour a garment is, then don't tell you which one they bought!

Browtox · 29/09/2014 14:41

'Really unusual fabric'

Haha - I have to go to work but i want to be doing this instead Sad

polyhymnia · 29/09/2014 14:43

Oh, and there also seem to be a lot of people who praise the 'bright cheerful' colours of pieces I've immediately ruled out as horribly garish.

Browtox · 29/09/2014 14:43

agree pOly - they can be good. I also hate the ' my husband says' ones.

Browtox · 29/09/2014 14:43

and Poly " cute squirrel design'

( I am imagining a hoard of squirrels with design boards and pencils behind their squirrelly ears)

OP posts:
polyhymnia · 29/09/2014 14:44

Oh goodness yes - some of those make me wonder whether feminism ever happened.

Browtox · 29/09/2014 14:45

Right I TOO need to work. Grin

The DH ones, not the squirrel ones - though the love of cute animal patterns among those reviewers does seem to be much greater then mine. One garment I've just reviewed was like by everyone else and only I out of dozens thought it looked as naff in RL as I'd feared.

BranchingOut · 29/09/2014 14:47

I wrote some trying-to-be comic ones once (even though I love boden) and complained when they were not accepted. They denied all knowledge!

I had said that a particular shade of beige cardigan had made me look as if I should be sitting in an armchair sucking a Werther's Original.

Browtox · 29/09/2014 14:51

yup - comedy buttons are a MINUS for me

OP posts:
RonaldMcDonald · 29/09/2014 17:05

brow

often they made lovely things...some hugely hugely flattering but they were decided to be not boden enough and ended in a friends bedroom
nicest jeans I had for years were Boden throw aways. far better than baxters. somehow made my sliding no arse look like an arse and legs longer

BettyMoody · 29/09/2014 17:07

but what were the rules form Johnny?
