Being past 35, my mini-wearing days have gone, but having become SAHM since dd2, determined not to succumb to "mum's uniform" of jeans/trousers all year round. Splashed out on a really nice skirt last spring in White Stuff new season White Stuff (Fat Face Fat Face have similar) - dusky green colour, good with jumpers in winter & boots, t-shirts and flatties in summer. Per Una in Marks (never thought I'd shop there) have some that are good too. Key thing is check the label so it goes in the machine - haven't possessed anything dry-clean-only for years!!!

You have all given me oodles of confidence.

Tamba - Psycho aged you a year Remember to throw some foul language at her next time she's online

Gonna dig out my boots, skirts and fishnets... and buy some more tights.

Where is good for cool but cheapish tights??

Ok, if you wanna skirt challenge.. find me a skirt/outfit that I can wear with confidence this winter...

I never never wear skirts but would love to, I am 28, about 5'8 have pretty good legs, never wear flat shoes, size 12-ish, have a reasonably flat stomach, I am chunky around the top of my thighs and have a little cellulite but mid thigh to ankle could be shown I guess. I am naturally a readhead but am masquarading as brunette at the moment. I would not be conftable showing my midrift and don't like anything too low slung as I have some faint stretch marks around the top of my hips towards the back. I am a WOHM, in a fairly conservative office environment and if you could find me an outfit I could wear to go shopping/pub/out for coffee I would be bloody happy..

I can't think of anymore information that you could possibly need...

Mmm I've been thinking about this skirt: denim skirt but (1) it is out of stock in my size with no sign of returning (2) is it really "mumsy"?

This is nice too: embroidered skirt but also out of stock - grr.

FluffyOHaraOfSnugglesville · 27/09/2006 15:28

that first link doesn't work..

florenceuk · 27/09/2006 15:33

bugger try this: denim skirt

florenceuk · 27/09/2006 15:36

if you zoom and click on lifestyle you can see the skirts as modelled in the catalogue - I really like a lot of their skirts, and think a basic a-line shape works well on most people with, say, fitted top and boots. Why I didn't buy this immediately when I got the catalogue I don't know!
