after a lovely summer of flip-flops and cheapy converse, I'm not sure what to do with my feet this winter. am thinking about leather converse with socks? not convinced. I want comfort and casual...maybe some flat boots? not really sure which way the fashion at the casual end of things is going. Interested in your thoughts :-)

I want to know too! I walk a lot so need comfort. Leather converse sound good though ...

crje · 26/09/2014 00:41

Chelsea boots

bishboschone · 26/09/2014 06:28

I'm still wearing flip flops .. I hate shoes but will wear my ugg noira again as that's ally feet willl allow me to.

KristinaM · 26/09/2014 06:53

Now I'm wearing loafers and lepo flats

Next month I will graduate to ankle boots and will probably not take them off until Easter Wink

helloitsme · 26/09/2014 06:57

thanks! two questions: 1. what are lepo flats? (have even googled it, but still not sure) and 2. what kind of ankle boots? (apart from chelsea). I feel I am so in the sticks, I really just have no idea what's in, and what will be a durable look which is still fairly 'on trend'. (am googling chelsea boots now)

I have tan long boots. Ballet flats and converse for jeans.

And uggs for days when I'm not feeling too "fashion" (think all winter!! As they're so warm and cosy)

desperatehousewife21 · 26/09/2014 07:06

I've got my uggs, brown leather riding boots and dark brown leather Dune ankle boots ( love ) from last year.

I want some new black biker boots this winter. Can't find any yet but will scour the shops.

buttercrumble · 26/09/2014 07:09

Chelsea boots and loafers here Smile

CambridgeBlue · 26/09/2014 07:27

I'm wearing flipflops, Converse or ballet pumps at the moment but think it will be time to break out the boots soon. I've got tan knee highs, black sheepskin-lined bikers and brown vaguely Marant style ankle boots, but am on the look for some black ones as well. I also bought some chunkier high tops with buckles and zips (bit like Ash ones) last year and they were surprisingly useful - a nice half way between comfy and cool.

CambridgeBlue · 26/09/2014 07:27

Oh and brown leather brogues :)

KristinaM · 26/09/2014 07:51

They are leopard skin print flat shoes

Can't link as they are about 3 years old

helloitsme · 26/09/2014 09:34

ha ha Blush feel a bit silly about the 'lepo' thing. I totally thought it must be some cool new type of shoe I had never heard of! OK, I'm seeing that most people just have more shoes than I do! The idea of having both brown and black boots seems totally extravagant! But very useful.......am googling....

Fly London boots
Converse still
"Smart" ballet pumps with tights

CambridgeBlue · 26/09/2014 09:55

I do feel a bit extravagant reading that post back but in my defence I need black boots for to go with my one pair of smart work trousers and all of my other boots are at least a year old, some I've had for ages.

msfreud · 26/09/2014 10:14

I have lots of shoes and boots so there are many options indeed! I keep most of my shoes/boots for years though because I have so many pairs that none get particularly worn out.

Clarks Orinoco Club (burgundy leather), Dr Martens Meg biker boots (black leather), Dr Martens Haley long boots (purple leather), Dr Martens Cath ankle boots (brown leather), brogues (tan or teal), New Balance trainers (black/grey/yellow), Josef Seibel trainers (grey) or if it's not cold, then some of my ballet flat type shoes...

NickiFury · 26/09/2014 10:38

Uggs

Love them. Have two leather pairs, black and brown.

andsmile · 26/09/2014 10:44

ALl the blooming 'dress' boots I bought last winter (6pairs all different styles) - cant seriously justify buying anymore - may stretch to a pair of brogues - naice tan ones withmy tweedy coat and berry scarf!

Also buying snow boots but very undecided about these dont know whether to get branded/which ones/cheaper as dont wear them much

andsmile · 26/09/2014 10:45

Oh and I have two pairs of 'winter trainers'

Navy fur trimmine hi tops
Grey mid rise converse with a bit of tweed/grey

MarshaBrady · 26/09/2014 10:49

Shearling lined ankle boots, I'm converted, very snug.

TheHoundsBitch · 26/09/2014 10:52

I have tan sheepskin converse, dark brown glitter converse (not sure about these Confused), black bikery uggs and brown cowboyish ankle boots. I might get some black chelsea boots or some lace up combatty style boots.

helloitsme · 26/09/2014 12:35

hmm, thinking a lot about boots - too much??? by the way, cambridge, didn't mean it as a criticism, more that it was a revelation to me! georgina, are they comfortable? I think i need to be clear about what style i'm really shooting for....comfort is important, flat is important, ok in the rain is important, and looking absolutely fantastic is important...possible all in one boot? let's see....

OP posts:
helloitsme · 26/09/2014 12:36

think i'm going to get some loafers and some boots and see whether my summer converse see me through any part of the inter or not...does anyone ever wear their converse with socks? can anyone link to some nice winter high tops? or are high tops really over? (need to stop thinking about this one so much I think...)

LadyHamiltonsPussy · 26/09/2014 13:05

these

moggle · 26/09/2014 13:10

normal canvas converse can be winterised to an extend by getting some nice warm insoles - I buy these and they are so cheap and you get two pairs for the price. I suggest getting a bigger size and cutting down to size. For the first few weeks they feel unbelievably luxurious and squidgy and then they squash down a bit but still keep you nice and warm. I put mine in last October and was able to keep them in all through the summer; they are still fine but am thinking of buying some more for this winter for the extra warmth.

I always wear my converse with socks TBH but that's because I don't wear skinny jeans so you don't really see the socks or my ankles anyway. I am no fashion queen!
