What's the most gorgeous and longest lasting perfume ever?

Ok so the most gorgeous is gonna be subjective but would love to know what you guys think! Long lasting would be good too but obviously all fragrances fade. I quite like Issey Miyake or rose scents but am very open minded.

Any ideas, you lovely fragrent ladies..? :)

I like Rose by Paul Smith, it lasts longer than most on me.

Maybe, thanks for that site, very helpful.

Just wanted to share this review of Tom Ford's Black Orchid on Makeupalley. Made me laugh!

"For me this is THE perfume to wear with a black tuxedo on a naked body with hair swept back in a sleek bun and red lipstik burning on the lips. Kim Basinger turning up in front of Rourke, wearing a suit with a fake moustache in 9 1/2 weeks is this scent's ideal visual portrait. "

I was told that there are two types of perfume.

Diagonals which smell different in the bottle to the way they smell on skin.
And different on each person, and vary from when you first put it on to when it's been on for a while.
And therefore fade eventually.
Someone mentioned Mitsouko, my all time favourite, this is a diagonal.
I would guess perfume formulated before the 60s would be a diagonal

Then there are horizontals which smell the same in the bottle as they do on skin, anybody's skin, and they last a lot longer.

Lovely subject Smile

Wish I'd had the olfactory sensitivity to delve deeper.

OP, if you want to emulate Basinger in 9 1/2 weeks, I'd go with the ice cubes rather than the fake moustache Grin

Haha yes I agree with the ice cube bit! Reminds me of that famous quote about Marilyn Monroe when asked what she wore in bed and said, nothing but Chanel No 5...:)

Another vote for Flowerbomb.

Chanel No. 5 would be a diagonal Wink

Downward slide? Grin

Bewitched it was me that mentioned Mitsouko. I've never heard of diagonals before but that is very interesting - one of things I like about it is the way it changes and is so multi-layered. Isn't it beautiful Smile?

And, ten hours later I can still smell both of them on me so they definitely pass the long lasting test!

Clinique Aromatics every time for me, people always comment on how lovely it is whenever I wear it. Love it.

Try this website if you're undecided on which perfume to choose and want to learn more about fragrance/terminology etc. //www.perfumesociety.org I haven't trialed their fragrance boxes but I'd imagine they're good value.

Aromatics is commentable though as it's pretty pongy. I've got used to it as a mate has it but it's so pervasive you can't avoid saying something

Can't believe I can still smell the Clinique on my wrist the next day! I know I said I wanted long lasting but this is ridiculous! Has been an interesting adventure into the complicated world of perfume...:)

If you like rose scents, try Serge Lutens "Sa Majeste La Rose" (a straightforward, elegant but ridiculously good rose) or "La Fille De Berlin" (a spicy, peppery rose). House of Fraser, Harvey Nicks.

Scents are terribly personal, so this is ABSOLUTELY not a criticism, but I don't know that 'gorgeous' and 'long-lasting' always go together.

There are several very powerful scents that I've tried and have found horribly difficult to get rid of quickly.

I was in M&S earlier and tried some of the Shay & Blue fragrances in there - really lovely and they are still quite strong on my wrists now so assume long lasting! Fragrance/beauty seems to be the one thing M & S is getting right at the moment Hmm

YY to M&S. Finally they get something right!

Zara perfumes are quite lasting and nice. Sorry but I cannot remember the names. I just squirted the samplers as I stood in the queue for the till.

I tried the new Jean Paul Gaultier Intense the other day (gold booby corset bottle) and I could still smell it the next day! Funny as I was totally meh about the original, but this one is totally different!

I've worn Lolita Lempicka since I was a teenager and still love it - it lasts forever and is so distinctive. Pretty sure you can get it in House of Fraser or big department stores, but it's LOADS cheaper on eBay.

Today I am wearing and love love loving this scent below from 4160 Tuesdays. I've copied the perfumers description as she does describe it very well:

The Dark Heart of Old Havana

Tobacco, fruity oriental
It’s the smell of a walk through Old Havana in the evening, from the Hotel Sevilla to the Caseon del Tango for a dance lesson with Ketty and Felix.

Wafts of coffee and tobacco, sweet, sugary desserts cooked with baskets of oranges and mangoes. The scent of peaches beginning to turn overripe, and citrus peel going squishy in the gutter.

From a dark doorway a handsome man in white whispers, “Do you want a Cuban boyfriend?” and I speed up a little, squeaking “No! Thankyou very much for asking all the same!”

And then the old Cubanos at the tango club greet me with smiles, songs, rum and kisses.

top notes: orange/peach/grapefruit/sugar
heart notes: tobacco /bergamot/tonka/jasmine
base notes: vanilla/musk/ black pepper
