Best everyday "my lips but better' lipstick

Just that really! I'd like to treat myself to a nice lipstick that I can wear everyday. Not too bright/too nude (worried that my teeth might look yellow!), sort of my lips but better. I'm darkish blonde, pale but pink undertones, green eyes. Sorry don't know if cool/warm, I find that v confusing. Don't like gloss at all.

Maybe a mac one as they seem to have the widest range of shades?

Thanks :)

Thank you everyone! The Dior lip glow really appeals to me but it's soooo pricey...

Chubby sticks don't last

I'm dark blonde, swear by Clarins 'my pink' lip balm crayon. It's gorgeous and adapts to your natural colouring - very natural, but you can see the colour. Texture is just like a lip balm, very moisturising. The colour stays put too.

JoolsSchmools · 08/08/2014 12:34

Clinique Black Honey for me or Mac Patisserie

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 08/08/2014 14:08

I love the Soap and Glory Motherpucker stick, very nice colours, neutral and looks lovely on.

prettywhiteguitar · 08/08/2014 18:04

I like Neals Yard in pomegranate, cheaper so doesn't have the longest wear, smells lovely though

Petal02 · 09/08/2014 09:39

I looked at Dior Lip Glow in Boots, it looks pale pink in the tube, does it just go varying shades of pink depending on your colouring? If so, it's no good for me - I need non-pink shades (dark blonde, brown eyes, yellow undertones).

Shia · 09/08/2014 10:14

On me, dior lip glow is a pale barbie pink. Looked ok when I had black hair, now I have brown hair it looks like a child's first lip balm.

The best match is to open your mouth and the colour of the inside of your cheek should be the colour you're aiming for.

You can find a lipstick that is the right shade but too intense and blot it and then follow up with valentine lip therapy, or a lip balm of your choice.

I have a lovely dior lip balm in a round pot. It's not expensive and lasts ages.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 09/08/2014 10:21

I really like No7 Sheer Temptation in Caramel Kiss. It's lovely on, quite sheer so doesn't look overly made up and the colour looks natural, plus it makes my teeth look whiter.

Shia · 09/08/2014 10:37

Dior creme de rose is the name of the pot.

It's a little pot of loveliness.

Is not shiny, but gives lips a lovely moisture look. Great worn over blotted lipstick.

Collection 2000 vintage rose is a lovely shade on me. Far superior to the new Mac lipsticks.

Sweetasstevia · 09/08/2014 10:42

I like No7 Moisture Drench in Sugar Plum - it's a pinky brown and I have red hair, blue eyes and fair freckly skin.

I was also going to suggest Clinique Black Honey. It does look almost black in the stick, but goes on sheer and is moisturising. Mine's nearly run out and I can't afford another :(

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 09/08/2014 12:52

Laura Mercier sheer lip colour in Healthy Lips.

Walnut8 · 10/08/2014 09:20

Lancome beige couture (#218). I have quite full reddish lips (which sometimes look ridiculous with lipstick) but this neutralises them to a soft pink.

Cereal0ffender · 10/08/2014 09:39

Burt's bees lip shimmer

TomatoSorbetWoman · 10/08/2014 09:40

black honey is a bloody weird colour imo

Leviticus · 10/08/2014 10:07

Mac Shanghai Spice for peachy or Loreal nudes in Julianne (Moore) for pink. I'm fair and they are both lovely and natural - eyes look brighter and teeth whiter effect.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/08/2014 10:39

Safmello-another way is to test the lippie on your finger pad, if it looks right, it'll look right on your lips too.

Safmellow · 10/08/2014 12:00

Thanks Dame save me from having to injure myself every time I lipstick shop :)

GoWestcountry · 12/08/2014 11:32

Another vote for Nars Dolce Vita here, the only neutralish shade I've found that doesn't look odd on me and I sound like a similar colouring to you.

I also like Korres lip butter in quince I think which is a similar colour but obviously doesn't last as well as a lipstick.

canny1234 · 12/08/2014 12:43

I'm naturally dark blonde but with grey/blue eyes.I find Burt's Bees lip shimmer in Watermelon fantastically natural and barely there. Also Cliniques Chubby Sticks in Jasmine ( a limited summer colour) is lovely for a bit more colour.

Cheesymonster · 13/08/2014 06:12

Thanks for everyone's input. After looking at a few swatches online (shops near me don't stock them) I've narrowed it down to MAC Patisserie, NARS Dolce Vita and Dior Lip Glow.

Would love to know how you go Cheesy especially with the NARS.

Shia · 13/08/2014 09:20

Mac patisserie has glitter in it and is very drying. It sits on your lips, greasy at first then becomes drying.

Clinique cream nude is much nicer.

applecrumbleandcream · 13/08/2014 22:46

I use MAC Patisserie with a slick of Boy Bait over the top.
