Best, cheap moisturiser for the older woman...

Can anyone recommend something cheap, but good.

I'm 40, I'm used to using very expensive stuff, but I've got zero money at the moment, so I need something cheap, I'm talking supermarket brands...

Olay total effects 7 in 1 stuff is good and is less than a tenner. Is that cheap enough?!

Boots Botanics is fantastic.

There are about 4 ranges, I buy the organic one- it's about £8.99 full price but they often have offers on. The non organic ones are about £6.99.

I've also started using their eye cream. Again I really like it.

Do they sell the botanics stuff in the smaller boots or just the large ones, do you know?

I've gone back to the trad Nivea (about £3) & it's fab. Used to use the no 7 serum (spent £50 on a box of about 6 diff creams - night, day, eye, serum etc) which made no diff, but the Nivea appears to be doing the trick.

I really like Simple Regeneration Age Resisting Day Cream. It's non-perfumed and has an SPF of 15.

It's often on offer. It's currently £4 in Tesco and Waitrose at the mo.

Loreal revitalift. It's amazing - slightly dry, pale skin. I look loads younger.

I have seen it in some smaller boots branches, so it's worth a look.

I've just gone back to nivea which I love although I have to say revitalift is fantastic stuff.

OP Nivea soft is brilliant. I've been using expensive brands, serums, day and night creams etc. for years.

I have been using Nivea Soft for about six months, I think my skin has improved, it certainly hasn't deteriorated. I use on my face an body. It's fab.

I have come to the conclusion that there is no bloody difference (other than different smells) with the expensive stuff. It's just a marketing ruse playing on our insecurities and helping us part with our cash.

Can't see me falling for it again.

My gran swears by Nivea. Says she's used it every day since she was very young.

Yep, big blue tub of Nivea is brill. I can't use it in the morning though as it is too greasy. I use Boots cucumber moisturiser in the morning, it is about £2 I think, and it smells really nice!

Just remember SPF unless you're putting that on top. Last moisturiser I bought on a poor week was garner moisture match the yellow one for normal skin it's illuminating and SPF 20 and only cost a few quid it's been great but as I don't wear anything on top I could do with something SPF 30 while the weathers like this

I have a feeling I might have a tub of the blue Nivea in a cupboard, I think I might have got it for dh when he had dry skin... Ummm... Will investigate later.

I saw a programme a while back where a dermatologist was talking about all these fancy anti-wrinkle creams.

He said that the only thing that really mattered was that the cream had a decent SPF.

My foundation has spf25, so I think that's ok, thanks though :)

I am a complete cheapskate when it comes to cosmetics but still want good quality. I remember watching the American equivalent of the dragon's den when one invester refused to even consider investing in a cosmetics pitch because he said it was the most competitive industry due to the highest profits from a legal business!

Anyway I use nivea soft with vitamin e gel from holland and baratt added and/or rosehip oil followed by sunscreen, depending on the time of year.

I use Nivea because a lady who I know, who is not so young but looks very young, uses it. Good stuff!

Is that the flat tin? I think I have that too. Is it very greasy ?
