Elsa (Frozen) dress for a wedding? Dd and her crazy ideas.

Following up my other thread (wearing trainers to a wedding), I got Dd's ( dress and matched with sketchers twinkle toes on the website and realised her dress isn't ideal for a day wedding in the summer (deep navy colour almost black).
So instead of buying another one she had the idea of going with her Elsa dress. She is 7.
Opinions please.

I like the dress but not the trainers! Depends on how formal the wedding is if they mind the children coming in fancy dress/play clothes.

How do did you get the shoes to sparkle on that photo?

Erm no I personally wouldn't let her wear that. I don't really think fancy dress is appropriate for a wedding, even for a child. Trainers with a different dress would be ok. I realise I may be alone in that view though! Other folk might not notice or care.

If you feel the dress is ok (my daughter has it and loves it but it does scream fancy dress) you could get white plain mary janes or something to tone it down a bit?

I'm sure she'd look adorable but it's not appropriate. She's going to a wedding, not a play date or summer scheme. I think seven is old enough to appreciate that you should wear something suitable for other peoples' big days.

The whole point is wearing a party dress with fancy trainers in her crazy 7 year old mind.
I am tempted to take the frozen dress for her to chance into later on but not for the reception/dinner tbh.

I don't think fancy dress is appropriate for a wedding either.

I think if you took the dress for her to change into in the evening, and have a slightly more... reserved ... dress for the daytime events, you'll be fine. Are you close enough to the bride or groom just to check with them? If anyone other than them disapproves, fuck 'em it's none of their business

A friend of mine has asked all of the children to come in fancy dress to her wedding-Think there will be a few Spider-men & probably a few Elsa's too! Not sure I would let mine do fancy dress to a normal wedding though!

You can't let her wear that the whole day, no. TBH, the trainers are taking it far enough already - do get what she's on about though. this is very cheap and pretty too - would go with the trainers. This would work too but the silver is probably more what she's after.

Why not wear that to a wedding? She is a 7 year old not a debutant.

I think at 7 people would judge fancy dress for the ceremony and photos.

Let her put it on in the evening for the dancing.

You can tell her she doesn't want to wear it all day, as it will be very hard to wash.

As for the trainers, let people judge. Little girls grow out of shoes too fast and run about too much for stupid occasion footwear.

Also she will fry and boil wearing that Elsa dress. The wedding starts at 1.30pm.

If she was 3 maybe, but at 7 it's going to look very weird turning up in a disney princess dress.

Before he started school, DS2 used to wear his trainers to weddings. No one actually expects you to buy a small child shoes specifically for a wedding. Now he's got school shoes he can wear them (like his brother).

My 7 year old would wear an iron man costume to a wedding if I let him. I wouldn't though. I don't think you should send her in fancy dress.

I will probably take the Elsa dress for her to wear in the evening after everyone gets drunk. Otherwise, not much chance to wear in this hot weather.

Personally I wouldn't give tuppence - if your DD wanted to wear it I'd be happy. But I'm old and old fashioned- a wedding is for us to pledge ourselves to each other in the presence of friends and family and to part after to celebrate! Wear what ever you like but come- that's the important thing to me.

We've done school shoes but I was amazed how cheap supermarket shoes are if you're just using for a couple of occasions.

Trouble is cheap shoes are absolutly fine for DD2, who has always been comfortable in anything. She has an Emelda Marcos sized trug of primark and other cheap pumps and sandals bought with her pocket money.

DD1 is like me, very few shoes are comfortable, cheap ones never are!

Trainers with a pretty dress, fine. Fancy dress costume not so fine in my view. I agree that the bridesmaids/flowergirls are the ones who get to be mini princesses for a day not other guests. Yep, by evening photos will be over and everyone will be too drunk to care!

What about the Lelli Kelli glittery shoes? There are some left in the sale, although maybe not in a big enough size.

Although I think dark navy, maybe with a wee white cardi and a white sash, would be fine.
