Elsa (Frozen) dress for a wedding? Dd and her crazy ideas.

Following up my other thread (wearing trainers to a wedding), I got Dd's ( dress and matched with sketchers twinkle toes on the website and realised her dress isn't ideal for a day wedding in the summer (deep navy colour almost black).
So instead of buying another one she had the idea of going with her Elsa dress. She is 7.
Opinions please.

I wouldn't mind a child wearing that to my wedding. It's fun

I wouldnt buy cheap shoes for everyday wear, but id suspect there'd be some pretty sandals that a child could wear for occasions surely? Id not even looked until recently (inner snob) and plesantly surprised.

'bridesmaids/flowergirls are the ones who get to be mini princesses for a day not other guests'

We'll be having Flowergirlzilla threads on here before you know it!!

'AIBU? DD was a flowergirl at a wedding. A 7 year old turned up in her Elsa dress. THE DAY WAS RUINED FOR MY PRECIOUS, ALL EYES SHOULD'VE BEEN ON HER'

I have an aunt who was so peeved about her daughter not being a bridesmaid at a close relative's wedding that she dressed her in a bridesmaid style frock and bought her a posh of flowers to carry.

Who wants to be that kind of a woman?

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 24/07/2014 13:00

It happened at my mum's wedding wine. My dad's younger sister (about 14 at the time) was so upset at not being a bridesmaid, their mum went to the dress shop, found out which material they were using and ordering the most hideous meringuey dress, completely opposite to the style of the bridesmaids, as well as a bouquet of flowers, and his sister pushed herself into the group of bridesmaids to walk down the aisle Shock

But the Elsa dress doesn't look like a usual bridesmaids dress... and as long as the colours are different to the bridesmaids colours, it won't be that bad?

Wineandcakes · 24/07/2014 13:02

Not posh, posie. Flipping auto correct!

Wineandcakes · 24/07/2014 13:04

Wow moomin that really is horrific yet very funny.

dirtyprettything · 24/07/2014 13:07

I would be 100% fine with that at my wedding but I wanted my guests to enjoy themselves and feel relaxed...
I can't see that it's inappropriate at all, she's 7 not 17.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 24/07/2014 13:29

TooTired my friend is asking that too - is it the same wedding? Shall we have a signal Wink

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 24/07/2014 13:37

I don't think navy is an issue at all. What fabric the dress is made out of is though especially in this heat. A pretty navy summer dress can be accessorised v nicely with sparkly trainers and I see lots of children going to weddings in fancy trainers. From a parents perspective, while a nice pair of Mary Janes might be deemed "more appropriate" if they will never be worn again, it's just a waste of cash in an already expensive day.

Sorry but I also think it is inappropriate and assuming it's made from polyester, she'll boil.

I dont think there is going to be a flower girl at the wedding. It is a very low key one. Dd would definitely be a flower girl if the bride was to have them.....

I would be thrilled if she came like that to my wedding!

But I'm planning an odd wedding where everyone is invited to the church and maybe bubbly/cake in the hall afterwards then we'll have a small family-only meal afterwards. If any children want to be bridesmaids/pageboys then they can - I'm suggesting the parents buy them a nice outfit they can wear again and that suits them and they can come up the aisle with me i'm secretly hoping I get at least one boy fairy

GoMe · 24/07/2014 13:47

We are coming purple.
