Hi all you georgeous people, I need some help please if you'd be so kind.

I have a date, with a very lovely man. I'd like to impress. Also, we are going to the savoy and shoreditch house in London. I'm a teensy bit intimidated.

The issue is i'm a bit of a chubster. However I have 3 weeks and a little bit of cash to throw at the problem.

I'm 5'8, size 14 and 27. I've dark sort of ombred hair (i know its going out of fashion) green eyes, naturally pale but fake tan. best feature is my legs/boobs, worst is tum. dont want to wear too high heels as he's not much taller than me.

Any ideas? Thank you so much for any help!

Well firstly at 5'8" and a size 14 I suspect you don't look remotely like a chubster, so cancel that worry out.

What sorts of styles do you like?

Sounds like a fab date venue! I would definitely go understated rather than OTT somewhere like that.

Hopefully · 17/07/2014 19:11

Hmm, saying that, the savoy does demand a certain level of dressing up, doesn't if?

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 17/07/2014 19:15

See thats the confusion... I'd want to go classic glam for savoy (even though it says no dress code) but trendy and understated for shoreditch. eeeek!

I'm definitely chubby- saggy mum tum with stretchmarks, proper apple shape too :( I've got visions of being surrounded by model types and feeling like a sack of tatties

What about something from the Whistles Limited Edition collection?

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 17/07/2014 19:29

Off for a look, i do like whistles

Hmm. Tricky. Shoreditch House is not dressy in the way that the Savoy is. Shoreditch is low key, louch, expensive style. I've worn jeans there mostly. But you can't wear those to the Savoy (well, it depends on which bar your drinking in. Deffo can't wear them in the American Bar - think that's the one).

I'd go for a dress with heeled ankle boots / gladiator style sandals but heeled ones. I know you don't want to wear massive one but you could do a mid heel.

Good blow dry, subtle make up, good lingerie and a smile!

What great first date locations.... I like him already.... Check out mint velvet, beautiful fabrics and understated cool/stylish,(IMO)

Let us know how it goes :-)

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 17/07/2014 19:36

We're eating in the grill so jeans are ok... Staying at shoreditch so might just go back there. He'll probably wear jeans. Planning a blowdry at cowshed as i'll get there first.

SinglePringle · 17/07/2014 19:37

I like Mint Velvet but it's not right for Shoreditch. Have you got good legs? Shorts and heels would look great in this weather.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 17/07/2014 19:43

Good legs :) I'm never sure about shorts though, always feel like they accentuate my tum for some reason.

Ps. meant blowdry there and nails at cowshed

Its not a first date, hence the overnight but its his birthday so a special one and we live at opposite ends of the country so dont see each other much and both know it cant really go anywhere. He booked Shoreditch, I booked dinner :)

Get shorts that do up on the hip - smoother line over the stomach.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 17/07/2014 19:50

What would you wear with them?

Laska42 · 17/07/2014 20:02

iI think this is gorgeous cool a bit quirky and and very flattering.. I want somewhere to wear it to....

Laska42 · 17/07/2014 20:05

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 17/07/2014 20:08

Of those I like the last 2, think middle would suit me best

Laska42 · 17/07/2014 20:23

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 17/07/2014 20:26

I tend to wear a silk vest with 'evening' shorts. I have a cream one and a black one and wear with a pair of blue, black and white shorts from Zara and a black and white pair from French Connection. I usually wear a blazer also. Heels and a clutch. Done!

Those dresses are nice but not right for SH or Savoy IMO.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 17/07/2014 20:48

Any tips on a decent silk vest? Not sure i could get a pair of zara shorts shut... I have a pair of nude louboutin simple pumps- too ubiquitous for SH? (I can walk in them and they dont make me too tall)

OP posts:
Laska42 · 17/07/2014 20:56

blimey I've just looked it up..(not knowing what it was) totally out of my league.. (now i realise t hat my dresses completely not the thing.. sorry.. am not stylish or trendy.. )

SinglePringle · 17/07/2014 21:06

I got my silk vests from Massimo Dutti, French Connection, Zara, DKNY and online (Outnet).

You go could for a pair of cigarette pants with a vest and lightweight blazer also. A coloured pair? That would look lovely - understated but cool. And would work for both venues.

Honestly re the Louboutins? They're a touch too Essex / Kate Midd for SH (especially in nude). Sorry...

SinglePringle · 17/07/2014 21:07

And take swimwear! The pool is fun (mostly populated by beautiful gay men!).

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 17/07/2014 21:54

Thanks SP! Will need footwear help too... they are my failsafe. I'm a bit KM style wise, but fatter, maybe its just the wrong venue for me.

Loving the beautiful gay men though!
