Fimbo · 12/09/2006 13:54

NO, no, no. The only look good if you are under 12. Return them darling please.....

Fimbo · 12/09/2006 13:55

Or morph yourself into Sienna Miller

sorrell · 12/09/2006 13:56

ballet pumps and a shortish, loose dress with a low waist. But only if your legs are long and skinny.

expatinscotland · 12/09/2006 13:56

Take 'em back unless you're enrolling for a ballet or dance class.

They are a REAL no go on anyone over 19.

CountessDracula · 12/09/2006 13:56

use them to tie your phone to your head

sorrell · 12/09/2006 13:56

Or a sweater dress. The skinny thing goes double for that.

nailpolish · 12/09/2006 13:56

right

ill take them back

we always used to wear them under yukky ripped jeans so our bums wouldn't show through (er in 1984)

katierocket · 12/09/2006 13:58

LOL CD - it still makes me laugh when I remember that 'tips' thread.

nailpolish · 12/09/2006 13:59

are patterned tights alright with you ladies

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 12/09/2006 14:05

I don't wear them myself, NP, b/c I am short and feel they are not a propos for my frame and age.

BUT they look fab on some!

Iklboo · 12/09/2006 14:07

Used to know an old lady who called gthem "F*ck-less" tights (she also said bokkle, kekkle, cackalogue).
I thought she knew something I didn't - you wear them, you don't get any!

Iklboo · 12/09/2006 14:08

I'd look like Sharon from Kath & Kim if I wore them

Carmenere · 12/09/2006 14:12

I bought some the other day knowing full well that mumsnet don't approve I don't care as I am not in the habit of dressing myself in teenagers clothes so I trust myself to wear these appropriately.
I shall wear them with a full black jersey skirt so I can wear my peep toe pumps with them.
Nailpolish, wear them if you want to.

nailpolish · 12/09/2006 14:12

i have a flippy kind of dress, its plain black, thought i would wear patterened tights for a change, quite like the diamond apttern ones

forget it

Aparently knitted dresses are in this season. If you really want to keep them you could try that look

nailpolish · 12/09/2006 14:14

carmenere, i havent even tried them on yet, bit worried cos if i try them on i cant take them back!

OP posts:
nailpolish · 12/09/2006 14:15

i saw a knitted dress in warehouse, but they mostly seem to have these cowl necks, which ihate

OP posts:
Carmenere · 12/09/2006 14:18

Try them on and if they dont fit you can wear them on freezing days with socks, were they really expensive? Mine were £3 in TKMaxx

nailpolish · 12/09/2006 14:19

nah, they were only £4.99

i would wear them, i suppose, on snowy days under trousers if nothing else, youre right

Nailpolish - You should absolutely, definitely wear those footless tights, at least once. Then you will know if you feel good in them or not. Fortunately, I have advice on just such a question as yours straight from September's Marie Clare. They are, apparently, "a great way of updating a transitional outfit. Are practical as the September chill descends ... wear them with high hemlines ... MaxMara teams them with a fabulous gold sequenned minidress, slouchy blazer and pointy patent heels (mmmm, please post a photo if you do this),. Or they can be worn with a knee-length skirt or dress, but ensure that you keep the look simple and unfussy." There is no reference to age restrictions. Wear and be proud.....

southeastastra · 12/09/2006 14:30

i would have thought they would look nicer with long flowing skirts

Flamesparrow · 12/09/2006 14:31

I want some, but don't have an appropriate skirt, and can't afford one right now

And also don't care about MN approval - you lot hate most of my clothes anyway

NotAnOtter · 12/09/2006 14:32

how old are you naily?
