Knickers that don't ride up my bum

Fourarmsv2 · 13/07/2014 07:50

Have lost a fair bit of weight recently so have knickers ranging from sz 12-20 but none are really comfortable. I also could do with some that hold me in slightly as my skin has some toning left to do.

Any ideas for a pair of pants that will stay put!?!

watching with interest.

i hate pants shopping. can't wear them too high as stuff falls out the bottom. i have lost weight too but like you have excess skin.
can't wear anything too low in fear of over hang.
somewhere in the middle pants that don't create a tyre would be great.
but not tight but with actual elastic round my bum.

i have issues don't i Grin

GretchenWiener · 13/07/2014 08:07

You're buying the wrong size. Whichever you are wearing

spookyskeleton · 13/07/2014 08:07

I have some from M&S which are fantastic and comfortable. They come in multi packs and have a lace band around the top. I like them because they come up quite high and I can tuck my tummy into them Blush

NightFallsFast · 13/07/2014 08:27

spookyskeleton I think we wear the same pants Grin. They're fab!

Fourarmsv2 · 13/07/2014 08:29

They can't all be the wrong size! I have all sizes! M&S high legs are my pre weight loss favourite. Maybe I need some more of those in a 12?

I recently bought some Bamboo short and bikini style pants from Aldi.

They were reduced from 4.99 to 1.99 for 2 pairs. I bought them for economy reasons but oh lord they are the most comfortable knickers I own. They are soft and comfortable and stay put .

The only drawback to them is that they take an age to dry on the line but thats a minor thing really.

JetJungle · 13/07/2014 09:06

I think short style are the answer.

Fourarmsv2 · 13/07/2014 09:12

Sloggi would be a good bet- they have support type ones too (Matalan)

Also throw out old ones, even if the right size as they may have stretched

If I was a 12 I would probably buy a 14 for comfort

Fourarmsv2 · 13/07/2014 09:18

Or these spooky?

Sloggi no good sadly - need a cotton gusset as anything else = instant thrush :(

They dont ride up on me - its because they fully cover my bum, I think.

And because of the cut you dont get a VPL either.

ThatBloodyWoman · 13/07/2014 09:58

M&S high legs or sloggis.

Fourarmsv2 · 13/07/2014 10:05

Maybe my bum is bigger! Saying that I haven't tried them since losing weight so worth a go :)

Have some high legs ready to check out.

The best ones I've found for not riding up are from GAP. Not the shorts- it must be the knickers with elastic around the leg holes but quite deep sides. I find that the leg holes GAP ones are sufficiently low cut to prevent any escape of cheeks!

Olaffles · 13/07/2014 10:48

Best I've found are from Primark, with the added bonus of being cheap too!!

Olaffles · 13/07/2014 10:48

Should add I'm really fussy about pants and can't bear them riding up, and Primark beat m&s for me hands down!

Fourarmsv2 · 13/07/2014 10:56

Can you get the GAP pants in the UK jasmine?

Olaffles - will take a look next week. They don't sell online do they?

Sorry posted and ran

these

Comfiest knickers ever Smile

Jbck · 13/07/2014 11:22

Shorts wearer here too, much comfier, no VPL and hold you in a bit without being spanx-tight

Branleuse · 13/07/2014 11:23

high leg pants ALWAYS rise up on me. im pear/ hourglass, so gigh leg knickerz are like stretching an elastic band on a cone, and expecting it not to move and ping off.

different body shapes need different sorts of knickers, and a lot of it is individual preference.

I think most people need to size up for knickers or even go two sizes up in some cases.
A plain basic thong thats one or two sizes more than your dress size is super comfortable, but not necessarily pretty or sexy, or a full coverage short, again, size up, and dont be fooled by the funky trendy range of boy shorts with their teenage micro gussets and finishing halfway up your arse cheeks

gerbiltamer · 13/07/2014 11:28

YY to M&S high legs. My personal bugbear is Brazilian knickers which cover half my cheeks and ride up all day :(

Kittykat7 · 13/07/2014 12:04

Short style no vpl are the best.

VivaLeBeaver · 13/07/2014 12:06

I agree that Primark do fab pants.

alemci · 13/07/2014 12:22

I hate the low rise shorts in M&S but the normal shorts are good with the lace trim which come higher up in the waist.
