I want something new for DD's christening. I'm looking for something not too formal, appropriate for the summer (optimistically hoping for nice weather) and suitable for breastfeeding. Which of the following options would you choose:

Option 1 - Joules V neck dress

Option 2 - Baukjen skirt paired with shirt one tee for feeding

I should say that I'm a bit anxious about mummy tummy in the skirt!

I think the dress is better for a Christening.

dexter73 · 21/06/2014 16:36

I prefer the skirt, I don't like the dress much.

Vikkil1 · 21/06/2014 16:55

That Baukjen skirt looks like you'd have to do some careful rearranging as you sat down, so as not to bare both legs and flash you knickers, but apart from that, if you have the figure, and with the right top and shoes I could see that working. At a push, but it would def be informal.

I don't mind the style of the dress, its a classic cut and I can see being in jersey would make it less formal. But I hate the colour and the print, very mumsy and frumpy. You could find better in the same style.

If you like Baukjen, I have the Jersey Drape dress, and it has proved very useful as it can be dressed up with heels and big jewellery, or made more casual with flats or wedges and more understated jewellery. I have it in black, but the bright pink or cobalt blue are available in all sizes, whihc would be lovely in summer. It's double layer jersey and the ruching can be rearranged to hide or flatter where needed, the top can def be moved aside for bfeeding, and the jersey material won't make it too dressy.

Definitely dress.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2014 17:46

I like both - no help! The skirt is great though.

Yama · 21/06/2014 17:49

The dress. By a long way.

lifehasafunnywayofhelpinguout · 21/06/2014 18:33

The dress. Xx

Eliza22 · 21/06/2014 18:57

Dress. But love the skirt (for a different occasion) at that price.

ShutTheFuckUpBarbara · 22/06/2014 07:12

Go for the dress, much more practical and you are more likely to wear it again.

BikeRunSki · 22/06/2014 07:16

Dress. But not keen on any of the prints.

MsVenus · 22/06/2014 07:45

A dress but the Baukjen dress suggested as it's more formal and modern looking.

polyhymnia · 22/06/2014 08:14

Definitely a dress. That skirt looks good for holidays but too diddly for a christening, when you won't want to worry about adjusting it etc.
The dress print is a bit too pretty-pretty for my tastes but the style looks right for the occasion and, if you like the print, I'd go with that.

polyhymnia · 22/06/2014 08:15

Fiddly, not 'diddly'!!

SanityClause · 22/06/2014 08:25

That dress is very low cut. It looks fine with the model's tiny bust, but your breast feeding bosoms are likely to be all on show. You will probably want to wear a camisole, which will mean you have difficulty breast feeding in it.

Vikkil1's dress is better.

justaweeone · 22/06/2014 09:11

The dress

lurkingaround · 22/06/2014 10:30

The skirt.

twostepsister · 22/06/2014 12:36

The skirt is lovely for a night out but I would worry about a gust of wind exposing more than is neccessary. The dress is suitable for the christening.

Fairylea · 22/06/2014 12:42

Dress. Not keen on the skirt at all sorry!

IsItFridayYetPlease · 22/06/2014 12:51

Of the two - option 1. But agree with others about the dress neckline and ease of BF problems.

CatteLady · 22/06/2014 12:51

Dress. More useful afterwards too!

kaykayblue · 22/06/2014 15:38

I like either the dress that Vikkil suggested or the joules dress in the dark blue

MrsBungle · 22/06/2014 15:40

I much prefer the skirt outfit. I don't like the dress, too mumsy for me.

I'd go for the dress. Although I personally prefer the near-identical version in cream: www.joules.com/Women/Dresses/Halton/Womens-Wrap-Cotton-Dress/Creme-Autumn-Rose?id=R_HALTON|CRMROSE
