Quick poll…do you wash your hair even if stuck in for days on own (to feel better rather than how it looks)

Have come down with flu very quickly
Looks like I'll be holed up for days, no one's going to see me, DP's doing 12 - 14 hour days so only him late at night or first thing
So, do you wash hair when feeling poo, more for feeling fresher rather than for looks? I mean if you are literally not leaving house and no one visiting
I feel like not bothering as it would make me so dizzy and exhausted to wash and dry. But I also know i'll regret not doing so in the next 48 hours! Dry shampoo makes is feel a bit cloggy and manky (i.e. still greasy, but can't get a comb through it)

Im tying it up (fairly long) but that makes my head a bit achey (achier) and it's quite long

After 4 days it would need a wash but I have probably scraped it up and left it for 5 before Grin

ThatBloodyWoman · 02/06/2014 21:33

Mine is long and it gets tangly when due a wash, so yes, I would, because it stresses me when its knotty.

HerBigChance · 02/06/2014 21:33

I wouldn't if I felt dizzy, but I would if I could manage it. It would make me feel better and less manly overall. I can't cope with my hair getting greasy.

frankietwospots · 02/06/2014 21:33

I wash my hair every day no matter what. Even the morning after a C section when I could barely walk, I still washed my hair. Get better soon!

Bearandcub · 02/06/2014 21:33

No I don't

HerBigChance · 02/06/2014 21:33

Less *manky, not manly!

SummerSazz · 02/06/2014 21:34

Actually I have just worked out that I last washed mine on Thursday morning Blush

EBearhug · 02/06/2014 21:34

I would if I felt up to it. Clean hair can make me feel a lot better. However, if I felt dizzy or that there was any risk I might keel over in the shower, I might not bother.

Edenviolet · 02/06/2014 21:34

I hate the feeling of dirty hair, it makes me feel horrible.

Usually I wash mine every other day but always spend the second day feeling yuck and wishing it was clean. The last three days I've washed it everyday and although I've heard that will make it greaser it makes me feel better!

If you can wash your hair then do it but if you feel really ill then leave it.

ThatBloodyWoman · 02/06/2014 21:36

If its only what its going to look like and you think it'll make you dizzy, leave it.

Hope you get well soon Flowers

JuniperTisane · 02/06/2014 21:36

I probably would, but only when I felt up to it, possibly after some medication. It would be a very quick job though.

FoxyHarlow123 · 02/06/2014 21:37

But your nearest n dearest are seeing you, so it's not exactly being holed up with no one seeing you, surely.

alltoomuchrightnow · 02/06/2014 21:37

if my hair was dry i'd leave it. i have dry ends but greasy roots get greasy v easily
i will try tomorrow if less dizzy and feverish
it's already feeling ugh
Mine gets knotty too thatbloodywoman which feels awful…. so it needs regular conditioning as well as the degreasing (conditioning ends only)
I have never found a product to slow down time before washes
(what a waste of money you were, Living Proof prime style extender from Space NK…grrr)

alltoomuchrightnow · 02/06/2014 21:38

well it's only DP, who will get up early then come home and collapse. but yes i don't want to look too gross for him (though he's bald so should be jealous of any hair , clean or not) Grin

OP posts:
bouncinbean · 02/06/2014 21:39

Usually the answer is yes - would wash it as it makes me feel better to be clean, but the only time I don't give a stuff is actually when I'm ill. If I don't want to get in shower then I know I am really ill.
There comes a point where you're still ill but fed up of 'feeling ill' and I find a shower helps - or often a sit in the bath with the shower on because I'm still feeling too frail to stand. I have long hair and it feels so exhausting sometimes and I feel jealous of DP's short back and sides!!!

Revised · 02/06/2014 21:39

Yes. I shower and wash my hair everyday without fail because i feel awful if i don't. fine not to style it or do make up etc but it feels so much better to be clean. i would have to be physically unable to do it to skip.

kelper · 02/06/2014 21:40

I can tell if my depression is rearing its head as i totally lose interest in washing my hair/myself.
If I'm physically ill (flu, cold etc) then i do try to have a bath because it makes me feel better. hair will get washed but probably not dried properly, which makes for mad bed hair ;)
Hope you're feeling better soon x

alltoomuchrightnow · 02/06/2014 21:42

I had a cool minty bath earlier which helped as i felt so feverish but couldn't be bothered to hold head under shower spray, i knew i'd probably keel over
don't like thought of washing it lying down in bath either, am fanatical about rinsing
i don't feel well enough to stand under shower for long

Twice a day for the next few weeks Shock - but that's to remove pollen, and keep my hayfever under control

Shopgirl1 · 02/06/2014 21:49

I would wash mine every second day at least just to make me feel better, hate the feeling of greasy hair. Didn't wash mine the morning after c section, but did the next day and I would want to be in a very bad way not to wash it.

alltoomuchrightnow · 02/06/2014 21:53

poor you LadyMud!!

I'd have firmly been in the yes camp until I got pregnant and developed hyperemesis at 6 weeks. 36 weeks pregnant now and after more than two months in bed or in hospital my hair seems to have "reset" and I am now washing it once a week. Every day I dry shampoo and wet my fringe to blow dry it with Aussie leave-in conditioner. My hair has honestly never looked better or felt cleaner.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/06/2014 21:59

You know I'm ill when I have manky hair as that's the only time I let it get greasy. Do what you feel like OP, if you feel like washing it go for it but not if you feel dizzy.

Get better soonThanks

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 02/06/2014 22:20

When I had flu - I was comatose for the first week in bed. I can't remember any of it. I definitely didn't have a bath or shower but was helped to the loo and my then DP basically gave me bed baths as well as he could. No hair washing

I did feel better the second week so was able to have a bath at the beginning and he washed my hair but too ill to dry it etc. kept washing it but only started to dry it at the end of the week. I hate washing my hair and leaving it to dry naturally so I felt a total skank by the end of week two. By the end of week one, if sweated so much that my hair was nearly starting to go into dreadlocks.

If I was at home and was well enough to wash my hair, I definitely would. It was always the thing I was most desperate to do after giving birth
